Tuatha 322 Book 4 Chapter 15

There was only one step left to complete the Quest I had been given that had sent me to this Universe. One final step was needed to wake the Tuatha de Danann. Athena would need to be given the [Eye of Odin], and Loki would need to be gifted with [Zeus's Thunderbolt].

All of this while under the auspices of Coyote and Set's gaze.

I had managed a few advantages in the agreement Athena, Loki, and I had reached when setting the terms for the Quest. A Sidhe's gift for language allowed for small obfuscations and deceptions. It was almost a given that any contract with the Sidhe would tend to favor their side. This congress of Gods presented a unique opportunity to take advantage of those small advantages.

The Athena and Loki of this multi-verse were here in attendance, and although they were the originator of the Quest, the multi-verse considered them the same as the two who had issued the Quest. In order for most Gods to rule across the multi-verse, they would splinter themselves into a reflection of the idea behind their [Domain].

The multi-verse identified each God- each Athena and each Loki as cells of the body that stemmed from the original concept and idea of that God writ large.

Each God could know what a reflection knew across the infinite number of universes they held sway. They could share knowledge, strategy, and their understanding of the Divine. So, while the Athena and Loki of this Universe were not the originators of the Quest, they were still Athena and Loki.

[Justice] had acted to leash Zeus's power, but she had acted after Zeus had attacked and I had claimed his [Thunderbolt]. It made me wonder if she might be placing her thumb on the [Scales of Justice], weighing the events past and present to allow for [Justice] long denied, to be realized finally.

It had never been fair for the Tuatha de Danann to be locked in [Sleep]. The spurious charges against the Pantheon and the blackmail that ensued to force them to accept the judgment of a different conclave of Gods should never have stood.

And it wouldn't have if [Justice] had been in attendance. Maybe that was why she was here this time. I might have limited System access while in this Universe, but I had enough while immured in the energies of these Divine Realms that the System could act.

And with [Justice] serving as a witness, no one could gainsay the veracity of today's events and that the conditions to complete the Quest I had been given had been met.

The other Gods who had been shouting and arguing had stopped when [Justice] had encased Zeus in a prison of Divine energies. A prism of reflection that contained his Divine energies and reflected his attacks and attempts to escape back at him. He had been trapped in a containment field that was powered by his own Divinity.

"Athena. Loki," I said, breaking the silence that had permeated the area. "I have been tasked with delivering an item to each of you, an item that needs to be delivered while Coyote and Set observe.

"If [Justice] would allow, I'd like to deliver those items now while tensions cool and this assembly considers the ramifications of Zeus's actions."

[Justice] didn't reply, but she made her approval apparent by opening passages between the areas we had been sequestered within. Five passages that allowed each of us to meet in the middle of the chambers and stand before [Justice] and the gaze of every Pantheon as the exchange was made.

Loki, Athena, Set, and Coyote hid any emotion or thought they might have had as they gathered, although Coyote was hard-pressed to hide that spark for deviltry and tricks he was well known for.

I removed both items simultaneously. I knew I wouldn't be able to hide the divine energies they released or what each item was from those assembled, so I thought it best to gift each God at the same time.

Before anyone could act to stop me.

It was only a matter of seconds before Athena stood holding the [Eye of Odin] while Loki tried to contain the power of Zeus's [Thunderbolt]. The watching crowd began to stir once more, whispers of surprise as God after God identified what had been revealed.

Coyote and Set were unable to hide their astonishment at my actions.

Partly that I had managed to obtain each item, mostly that I had given them away. If I had absorbed the energies contained in the eye and lightning bolt, I might have been able to ascend and reach [Rank: SSS God].

But that would have meant contending with Danu for her position as Pantheon leader, and I had no interest in embroiling myself in a battle with a presence that had blessed me and my awakened people.

Danu might have her faults. I wasn't there when she had been forced to accept the conditions that had placed the Tuatha de Danann at such a disadvantage. To allow herself and the Pantheon to be trapped in [Sleep] had been an egregious failing. But she had also been forced to add a weakness to the Sidhe.

Her intentions might have been made for the most selfless reasons. Her actions had protected the Sidhe. But it weakened the Sidhe, allowing the other races a real advantage that allowed them to keep our people locked to one planet in the [Nexus Universe].

Embracing [Sleep] had been devastating enough, but she had also allowed the bane of iron to be introduced to every Sidhe. She had agreed to this weakness to maintain Sidhe's immortality. Without her agreement, the Sidhe would have been wiped out by a [Host of Heavenly Tribulation] unleashed on our people.

We would have been cut off from [Fairy] and [Wild Magic]. And without our connection to harness those magics, our bodies would have been unable to exist. We might have survived the [Tribulation], but we would no longer be blessed without the ability to access the magic of [Fairy]. The [Wild Magic] would be lost if we lost our immortality and our ability to heal.

The deal had been struck, and what I did here today to fulfill the Quest I had been given would see them freed. Freed without the consequence or the ability for the other Gods to threaten the Sidhe's immortality again.

They had nothing to do with their awakening. I had worked around the agreement that had been forged and signed in Divine blood and energy. It wasn't the Tuatha de Danann or Sidhe that had been the harbinger of this Quest.

Athena, Loki, Set, and Coyote had been the architects. It was their combined will that made use of System mechanics to orchestrate what would happen here. Now that the final step for completing the Quest had been made, the Tuatha de Danann would be freed.
