“Hum? It’s already that late?”
The knight in black armor woke up. He looked at the sky and saw that the twin moon were already high in the sky. At his feet, a squirrel was sleeping. It had two tails and three eyes. Seeing the man move, the small beast jumped on him and posted itself on his shoulder.

“I know idlu, I should hurry home.”
He stood up, took the claymore and went in direction of the village. It took him a few hours to reach it. The village was simple. Since it was far from the front and small, they had no problem with warrior and bandits. As he entered the village, a few kids rand to him and tried to catch the small squirrel.
The small animal tried its hardest but got caught in the end to the greatest pleasure of the kid that were now sitting on the ground petting him. The knight saw his small companion and smiled. The houses were made of rock and wheat. One could call those house simple and they would be right.
After a few minutes he finally reached his house. It was made with greater effort and was really different from the rest. The walls were made of pure stone and the ceiling with wood and wheat. Since this man was a knight sent here for retirement, they made him a decent house and left him to rot here.
Inside a woman was cooking with a small girl in her arm. The knight took of his armor and went behind her. He hugged her and kissed her cheek.
“What did you make?”
The woman smiled and kissed him back.
“stew. How did it go?”
The man took his daughter and while hugging her frowned.
“I couldn’t found him. Even with the scroll his highness gave me this dragonkin is undetectable.”
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Upon hearing this, his wife came next to him and rested her head on his chest.
“You don’t have to worry, after all he never attacked anyone or made contact with us. Even when I saw him, he was just drinking at the river and when he sensed me, he disappeared.”
The knight raised an eyebrow.
“I didn’t know you saw him, why didn’t you tell me?”
The woman sighed and took back her daughter in her arms.
“I …. I don’t know. When I saw him I thought it was a child that lost his way but when I approached him, I remarked his tail and pupils. I wanted to ran away but then he saw me. The way he looked at me… It was full of disdain… “
“Then why didn’t you tell me?”
“He looked so much like a child….”
The man hugged her again and sighed. His wife was full of good intention and way too caring with others.
“I know, even the description made it to be a youngling. That’s why we must catch him before a slave trader do. Dragonkin are extinct, if we let them catch him, who now what would happen to him, even worse, how would the demi-human alliance react. While we never had good relation it would worsen it to the point of being at war….”
The both of them looked at their daughter. They didn’t want for her to experiment war. The man took a chair and sat.
“Enough bad thinking for today, how did it go while I was away?”
The two began to speak about the state of the village and the future marriage. Unknown to them, the dragonkin heard everything.
