Author’s Note:
Hey everyone, thank you everyone who has recently followed me on my blog. Was pretty surprised at how much of you followed recently. Again thank you very much! Also, I’m thinking of another idea for another novel. You can go on my blog and click on current projects at the top or this link –> Current Projects if you want to see my idea. If you have any ideas that you are willing to let me hear about you can comment it there or just message me. Also if I make another novel, I might just make it exclusive on my blog, so make sure you follow me.
Thank you Nasir05 for telling me that I forgot about the real life to game time relation. It’s answered in this chapter. If there are any errors in this chapter tell me, I’ll try to fix it right away. Although I tried to proofread it the best I could already. I hope you enjoy the chapter!

True Identity
Chapter 9 – To Be Expected
The pickaxe broke in half. The FUCKING pick broke…. ‘I looked at the amount of iron ore I’ve collected so far.’ I have only mined 25 iron ore and I still need 25 more. What the hell am I suppose to do now….
…
There was many more iron ore to be mined in the room but seeing that I had nothing to mine it with, I just returned to the pathway in order to check out the path on the left. The path on the left also led into a big room and just like the other room there was iron ore everywhere. Except the room was distinctively different than the other one.
This room is well lit by many torches but still dusty. The biggest difference was that there was a boss standing in the middle of the room. The boss had the red name Calic in big bold letters over his head indicating that it was a boss.
The boss was a dwarf that was clearly stronger than the rest of the dwarf’s in the mine. He looked so strong that he could possibly even match Ferron. Calic wore big plated armor and was dual-wielding two 1-handed axes.
Calic [Rank: 1 Boss]Level:18Health:750 / 750Attack:???Defense:???Abilities:[Mighty Blow] [Enraged Axes]
‘Out of habit I started to analyze the boss.’ It looks like the boss is too high level for me to gather all his stats. Calic has a lot health, 3 times the amount of the greedy dwarfs. But just by looking at those huge muscles, his attack must be high. And his defense also must be pretty high because… well because he’s a boss of course.
I didn’t know if I could beat Calic solo but I decided I would try anyway even though beating him was highly doubtful. I have nothing to lose except a level and my dignity…. I charged the boss full of confidence planing to use the technique that defeated the other dwarves. Concentrating mainly on my defense and attacking when there was an opening. Imagine epic slow triumphant music while I charge the boss, you know the ones from the movies. I’m about to fuck this boss up!
{BAM! The boss rapidly hit me when I came near.}
60!
56!
63!
And I died…. Well, that was anticlimactic….
Author’s Note: Did you think my character was going to be OP, FUCK NO. Unlike those other novels, it’s unrealistic that a player that has hardly any experience in fighting can solo a boss!
There’s no way I can beat this boss without at least a tank and a healer. The boss’ attack will just overwhelm me every time.
After suffering a miserable and quick defeat, I looked at the time and it was already 7 am in the morning. ‘I logged off.’ I wonder if it’s really true that the time in game is the same as in real-life. I feel like I’ve been in there for about 12 hours when I was really in there for about 19 hours. I guess it’s true that time moves faster when you’re having fun….
Since it was 7 am, I had to eat breakfast and go to my part-time job soon. ‘I went to the bathroom to clean up.’
When I looked at myself in the mirror, I wasn’t surprised at what I saw. My eyes were bloodshot and I had bags under my eyes due to sleep deprivation. I’m particularly used to seeing this kind of face because I’ve had to pull many all nighters before. This is because I either had to work or I had to study in order to keep my grades up. But now the ironic thing is that now it’s because I was playing a game.
Well, it’s nothing a good warm shower can’t fix. After I took a quick shower, I felt and looked much better. ‘I walked to the kitchen.’ When I entered the kitchen, just as expected, Haley was sitting at the dining table with breakfast already waiting for me.
While eating breakfast together, all Haley and I talked about was AA, but that’s also to be expected.
“James, what are you doing in-game right now and what’s your in-game name so I can add you to my friends list.”
“Umm, my in-game name is Axle and right now I’m facing a boss in a god forsaken mine.”
Excited “Oh, you’re facing a boss! How many times did you die?”
Bitter “Is that the first question that comes to your mind? Shouldn’t your first question be something like how did you kill it or what loot did it drop?”
Sarcastically “Yeah, yeah, just tell me how many times you’ve died so far.”
Embarrassed “Twice….”
Haley started to laugh and I couldn’t help but join in afterwards.
“What about you? What are you doing in-game.”
“Oh, my friends and I partied up and now were leveling up in a dungeon but we decided to take a little break at the moment.”
Sarcastically “Oh ok, so nothing special….”
Jokingly angry “HEY! What did you just say?”
“Haha, I’m just joking, calm down.” Ah, I like this much better, I remember that our conversations didn’t alway use to be this enjoyable.
“How about you James, do you have any friends in the game?”
Slightly arrogant “Who needs friends when you can go solo?”
Disappointed “Well, I guess it’s your choice but I would still prefer if you made some friends.”
Surrendering “Fine, I’ll see if I meet anyone interesting enough to be friends with….”
“Great!”
It was about time for me to go to work so I finished my breakfast and left.
Author’s Note: I put how each person acted in italics because I thought it would make the conversation better. I am hoping it makes it flow better and you guys get a better image of it in your minds. Tell me if you guys do, if you do I’ll keep doing this.
…
At my part-time job in the grocery store, almost everyone was talking about AA. Again, that’s probably to be expected. Some of the conversations were about how cool the game was, what level they were, what quest they were currently doing, and even whines about how they couldn’t afford a VR Headset or how the store ran out of stock.
Some of these conversations interested me. I overheard someone say that she was currently level 12 which was 5 levels higher than mine! I’m only level 7 but on the other hand, I have also died twice….
I was also asked about AA but I just decided to tell them that I wasn’t able to get a VR Headset and a copy of the game. I just don’t really want to be associated with these people…. Sorry Haley.

…
After work I went out to eat lunch at a Chinese restaurant with Nick. I tried to invite Haley but she said she was too busy EXP farming with her friends. Again as to be expected, Nick and I mostly talked about AA.
“James, what starting kingdom did you choose?”
“I chose the Kingdom of Edilath, the north one.”
“Oh that’s too bad, I chose the Kingdom of Salia. The kingdom in the west. You know what would have been smart? If we called each other beforehand so we could start at the same kingdom. I guess we were just too excited to play the game, haha.”
“Yeah, that would have been smart…. What class did you choose?”
Proudly “My character’s name is Orion and I’m a barbarian monk. I want to be the tank of the group!”
“Hmm, that’s an interesting choice. Jokingly But aren’t monks suppose to be the masters of hand to hand combat? With the skills you showed when we were fighting those gangster, I don’t know if you can become a good monk….”
Author’s Note: Jokingly isn’t what James says, It’s only there to express what James is acting like while saying the things after it.
Flustered “Shut the hell up. That was in real life, this is a fantasy world. With my barbarian physique, I’ll be unstoppable! Anything’s possible!”
Acting unconvinced “Hmmm… well, whatever makes you feel better about yourself.”
We talked about AA some more than moved onto a different topic.
“Nick, have you been studying hard? The test for Atlas University is in 3 days.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ve been studying everyday except for last night.”
“Alright good, let’s make sure we get in together.”
“For sure!”
Nick and I talked some more while finishing our food. When we were done, we split the check and went our separate ways. ‘I walked home.’
…
When I got home I decided to take a look at the AA forums to see if any new information could be of any use to me. Apparently most of the players that decided to stay in the kingdom in order to hit a fucking scarecrow got tired of it and stopped. I guess their dedication wasn’t high enough to stay with something so… pointless. But there are still some people hitting scarecrows hoping for something good to happen, eventually…. I also found out that many people also have the skills Swordsmanship and Understanding The Enemy. And here I thought I got something special. Nooo, I’m just a scrub like everyone else :(.
Author’s Note: I told you, I forbid my character from being OP. He has to earn it first! :P
There was a very popular thread asking if anyone had gotten a skill that would identify items. But apparently nobody had gotten it yet. This thread was so popular because people were complaining that going to the Classify Shop in order to identify their items was way too overpriced. The Classify Shop was basically a monopoly.
There was also a problem with establishing guilds. supposedly in order to establish a guild you need to buy a guild mansion first. And however many people your guild mansion can house, that’s the amount of people who can actually join your guild. But a guild is allowed to buy several guild mansions that are under the same guild name. This will allow your guild to expand the amount of people who can join your guild. The smallest guild mansion can house around 150 people while the biggest guild mansion can house around 2,500 people.
Then even after all that, you also have to pay the kingdom a monthly rent for the guild mansion. If you don’t pay the monthly rent, your guild gets evicted from the mansion. Then if your guild doesn’t have anymore guild mansions, your guild gets disbanded. The rent varies depending on how many people the mansion can house.
Due to these tough requirements to establish a guild and the limited amount of guild mansions in each kingdom, there is a competition to establish the first guild. Many groups of people are participating in the competition. Groups like [The Brotherhood] from Edilath, [DEFIANT] from Zarevia, [Vengeance] from Prilian, [Purge] from Salia, and many other groups are participating in the competition. These groups believe that the first guild to be established will get some kind of reward.
Author’s Note: This is the system I thought of for establishing a guild in my novel, took me a while. I didn’t want to make it easy for people to make a guild but I didn’t want to make it too hard. I thought of this system from thinking about college dorms. Tell me what you think about this system, I think it’s pretty damn original.
What really intrigued me though was a thread discussing about pets. Nobody has gotten a pet so far but there was many rumors about how to get one. Of course you couldn’t trust any of the rumors because they were just rumors. I want to get a pet so badly, maybe a pet that looks cool, like a dragon or something.
‘Next I went to the AA leaderboards.’ There were many different leaderboards. Leaderboards for the highest ranked players, the best weapons or armor, the highest ranked guild which was currently empty, there was even leaderboards for the most handsome guy and the most beautiful girl but it was based from the votes of players…. There was also an option for the leaderboards, you could chose all of AA or a specific kingdom. What I specifically looked at was highest ranked players in Edilath Kingdom.
The leaderboard showed the highest ranked players in Edilath #1-10. And to my disappointment, I wasn’t there…. This was the the leaderboard
Kingdom Of Edilath Top Ranked PlayersRank 1Ares (Knight)Rank 2Faye (Healer)Rank 3Zorian (Assassin)Rank 4Xavier (Necromancer)Rank 5Leon (Monk)Rank 6Lyssa (Healer)Rank 7Zephyr (Ranger)Rank 8Riona (Mage)Rank 9Giselle (Assassin)Rank 10Iris (Warrior)
Damn, so these are currently the best people in Edilath right now. I’ll have to beat them and rise to the top!
After looking at all the information on the forums, useful or not…, I put on the VR headset and got ready to start playing again.
[Do you want to connect to Absolute Authority?]
“Yes!”
…
Swish
…
{Ching! Clank!}
What the hell is that noise? While I was connecting to AA I heard a lot of noise near me. It sounds… it sounds like fighting!
