Chapter 3 - Goal Set!
“Greetings. Visitor from another world.”
The strange floating girl that was right in front of me had beautiful white hair and bright, glowing skin. Literally. She was emitting a slightly dim glow. Did she consume some uranium?
“I’m system 566. You must be confused as to why you’re here. To put it simply; it’s because of your father.”
“Wait. This is quite a plot twist. Wait, no, it’s too early. That went from 0 to 100 too quickly.”
“Plot twist?”
“Never mind that. My father; do you know where he is?”
“No. Your father being chased by it. Not even the Goddess knows his location.”
“What’s it?”
“I don’t know either. I’m simply relaying the message sent from the Goddess.”
“What? I’m confused.”
“It’s obvious that you are from your facial expression. I’m currently tasked with supporting you. I can’t believe I’ve fallen so much to be tasked with such a trivial thing though. Meet me at the cave of Orjan once you wake up. I will be waiting. Be quick!”
The girl disappears, a blinding flash appeared again, and I opened my eyes to the roof of the room I was staying in. It was quite humid, and sweat covered my back. Maybe I should take a shower, but I doubt I can get one considering I’m in what seems to be medieval Europe.
“Oh! I should go to the adventurer’s guild or something like that. I need a form of identification.”

After taking 15 minutes to get out of bed, I exited the inn and jumped into the bustling streets of the town. It was noon already; I slept for about 6 hours it seems. After bumping and apologizing to random people for a few hours, I gave up and asked a local for directions to the adventurer guild.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So… This is the guild.”
It was more like a bar than an adventurer guild, and it reeked of alcohol.
I enter the guild, fully preparing to encounter anyone picking on newbies, but nobody even notices me entering. How sad. But it might be because I have good stealth? Yeah right, as if that’s true. Hahahaha.....
After carefully trekking through the crowd of buffed, sweaty men armoured with heavy metal and chainmail gear, I arrived at the reception desk. The receptionist was an average guy, too average in fact. With blonde hair and blue eyes, the receptionist was at least a hundred leagues above me though.
“Excuse me. I would like to register please.”
“Ah, sorry sir, can you speak a little bit louder?”
“Can I register?!”
“Oh, yes. Please write your name, age, birthplace, and desired class in this form here.”
The receptionist magically took a piece of paper and a quill out of nowhere and gave it to me. I took a quill from the receptionist and wrote down my credentials. I felt so excited but yet, so anxious. The receptionist told me it will be ready in 2 hours. Now, I have nothing left to do.
I sat down at an empty table to the back of the guild and waited for the receptionist to finish my registration. Wait, since this is like a bar, I can play something, right?
I swam back through the ocean of sweaty muscles and returned to the reception desk. I asked if I was allowed to play something, and I was permitted to play. I returned to the table I was at before and took out my guitar. I could feel some curious gazes directed at me, but I'll just ignore them.
“Ahhh.... what should I play…”
I muttered to myself, with hands shak- no wait, my entire body was shaking. What is this feeling?
What should I play? Maybe Country Roads, after all, it kind of fits the bar type of mood. It could be that, or I just watched too many western, cowboy movies.
Slowly, I began playing. The number of stares increased, and my hands began to shake more violently, causing me to mess up some notes. But, slowly, I feel the warmth of the music wrapping around me. This feels like Deja Vu.
I began to lose focus of my surroundings and entered a half-conscious state of just enjoying the music, along with the satisfaction of sounds being produced from each string being struck.
Before I knew it, I began playing other songs. After some time, I realised that my surroundings were too quiet. What happened? Did something bad happen?
Whilst panickingly fearing that I did something bad, clapping began to spread amongst everyone in the bar.
“What’s going on?”
I was quite confused. Did they enjoy my performance? Is there someone important, like a noble, entering?
“That was quite the performance. I have yet to hear such a fabulous piece in my whole life! The melancholy it brings, It makes me feel like visiting my grandchildren after so many years. Ah, I apologise for going on a rant. May I inquire about your name, young sir?”
“M-me?”
“Indeed.”
“It’s.. Umm.. Furgaku Osimasu.”
“Nice to meet you, Sir Osimasu. I’m the general manager of this branch guild, Jurl. I look forward to seeing your future. Mardin, have you prepared the guild card yet?”
“Yes! It’s right here.”
The guy, Jurl, was around 155cm and had deep grey hair. There were a few visible wrinkles on his face, and he had a massive scar on his cheek. He was very muscular and had an intimidating aura, especially with the suit he had on. He kind of looked like my boss, from when I worked at a company a few years before starting my music career.
“This is your guild card. If you want to play something in the guild, just contact me via the receptionist, Mardin.”
“O-oh, um, thank you?”
Just like that, Jurl left the building, and the atmosphere returned to a rowdy bar. I hastily exited the guild to avoid any more awkward situations like the one before. I feel like definitely messed up somehow; I should’ve used more formal speech for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Haaaa…”
I heaved a sigh as the sun begins to set in the distance. As I walk down a street, I felt like I was missing something.
“Ah, yes! Of course, I need a goal! My goal should be… To eat dinner! Let’s go!”
Just like that, I went off to a nearby street vendor and bought some food using the little amount of money I had left. But, something else is definitely missing. Oh well, if I forgot about it, then it was probably not something important.
