Chapter 1. The Rift

Chapter 1. The Rift

A young child woke in a strange humid cavern with no recollection of how he ended up here. He immediately started checking his immediate surroundings and realised he was trapped with no exit, so he checked for any signs of movement. He didn't dare make any noise; he may only be in the Mortal realm, but he was not without training in many different things.

Despite being 10, he knew many things from Alchemy to Assassination. There were few things he had not trained to the level of Grand Master if it were any other child of his age training any skill to the novice rank would be a great achievement however for this child, he could master a skill within mere weeks!

His learning speed superior to any Genius recorded in any of the Lands at any point in time.

In front of this child, any Geniuses learning speed was nothing, but it came at a price...

A huge price, his meridians made him unable to cultivate!

Stuck at the Low Mortal Realm it wouldn't be hard for any Middle Mortal Realm to crush him, but this doesn't mean he would go down without a fight!

Only after making sure he was alone in this old cavern could he relax and look around for anything that would help him to escape as of right now, all he has are the clothes on his back.

At this point, even a strangely shaped rock would ignite hope in this young boy's heart. Unfortunately, all the oddly shaped rocks he picked up, pulled on or pushed in ended up just being regular old rocks.

Until he pressed one rock oddly shaped like a fist into the wall.

*Click* The sound of mechanics echoed around the cave!

Slowly, a piece of the wall started rising into the ceiling of the cavern revealing an old wooden door that instead of a handle had a fist sized hole.

As soon as he saw this, his eyes glittered, but he didn't rush up. Instead, he slowly tiptoed up to the hole and peeked inside; only he couldn't see anything when he looked into the hole it was as if he were blind!

His could only open the door and hope for the best.

As soon as he tried to open the door, he heard an aged voice.

"Child, I have no idea how you entered this room, but since you managed to open this door, I suppose I can let you through."

The voice sounded ancient but with that voice came a feeling he didn't even feel from the top Cultivator in his City! Could this voice be above The Heaven Realm?!

The young boy entered the room, a lot less cautious than before because if someone even close to the God Realm wanted him dead no matter how far he ran his entire being, soul and body would cease to exist with just a snap of his fingers!

Upon entering several things came into view, a clear glass full of a thick red liquid, several bottles of multicoloured potions, glowing holy weapons, weeping devil weapons, old scrolls, many books and even a small open rift!

As the child saw these things he knew what every item there was, apart from 4 of the 10 scrolls and the red liquid, but he could somehow feel that the liquid was some unfathomably strong person or beasts blood!

"Child, I can see in your eyes that you actually know some of these things! Impressive! For such a young age you're pretty talented! Alas, with your meridians your barely a match for normal Mortals! Forget about the mortal realm, Hahaha! Am I right in thinking that you wish to fix them? Hahaha..

"I suppose you could take one thing from this treasury! I recommend you take the blood, hehe, take that and I assure you will have meridians that are above everyone but me! Well every human that is hehe of course if you take that, I can't say that you will survive and even if you do live through the process I would be shocked if you kept even a little bit of your sanity! Hahaha..."

As soon as the young boy heard that his meridians could be fixed, he was overjoyed even after he heard that he might die or lose his sanity!

In this world the strong rule and the weak serve, even if he carried on how he was he would never rule over the city at most he would have to protect whoever his sister would be forced to marry when she was of age!

He blissfully skipped along to the red liquid in a highly happy manner.

"Haha child before you drink that, what's your name?"

"Sir this little one is called Lief" Lief bowed.

"Lief, huh. Well a word of advice child, if you survive past the first hour, drink every single potion in your view! Even the poisons!"

"I will do as you ask, Sir! " Lief promised.

Even though Lief was concerned about consuming the poisons, when the time came, he would do it without any hesitation if it allowed him to gain power.

However, if he could see the voices face, he wouldn't be so trusting. On that ancient, wrinkled face lay an insane smile, hanging ear to ear."

Without hesitation, Lief drank every last drop of the blood, although it was slightly hard to swallow it didn't taste that bad and he only felt a slight stab in his stomach as if pricked with a needle.

He started to feel as though the voice tried to trick him into choosing something else when an unbearable pain assaulted his entire body!
