Chapter 20

"There are so many people."

"I think that person just stole the woman’s purse."

Celia and the twins were looking at the scene outside the caravan curiously.

"You guys have never been outside before?" Celia asked.

"Maline said it's dangerous."

"We used to go outside when we were little, but I can't remember a lot."

"Mom used to buy us green peppermint cake."

Celia hesitated for a moment, then said it in a reassuring voice. "I'm sure you'll be able to go wherever you want someday."

"Yeah."

"Maybe."

Noel and Leon replied glumly.

Isaac looked at the walking people with an unfathomable gaze. Berko and Orion had probably been in the capital plenty of times, so they weren’t as curious.

Seth was interested and excited as well, but he had to control his expression. ‘The 'me' right now should be familiar with the sights of the capital as I’m temporarily living in the capital.’

The people on the streets saw the people leading the horses in front and suddenly shouted.

“Wah! It’s Agnes! The Knights of the Order!”

“Agnes, look at me!”

“My angel, give me a handshake!”

The Knights of the Round were famous for their exceptional combat skills and remarkable achievements. Whether it was winning a war, slaying S-grade monsters, or killing demon nobles, they stood out as the Kingdom of Melianor’s formidable defenders and assets.

Accompanying Agnes was Haeseong, the hero. While the official announcement that a hero’s summoning was successful had yet to be made, rumors of the event had spread quickly in the kingdom. The commoners’ voices buzzed with excitement.

"It’s the hero! Our savior!"

"Oooh, the most handsome man on this whole planet!"

"He's looking this way!"

On the other side, some people didn't like him.

"This is the hero that everyone has been talking about?"

"He looks too young. I can't feel reassured leaving the fate of our world to a youngster."

Seth could see Haeseong and Agnes talking with each other in front, but he couldn't hear their conversation. Haeseong glanced at him with the same judging look that hadn’t disappeared since a while ago before he departed from the group. He only needed to guide Agnes to find Seth.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the Marquess estate. The mansion was surrounded by an expanse of well-manicured gardens with neatly trimmed hedges and flower beds. Marble pathways meandered through the gardens, leading to a grand mansion made of polished stone.

It was a three-story structure crafted from white stone. The exterior was covered in tall, arched windows, and a pair of dark mahogany doors served as the entryway. It was topped by a gilded crest with the family crest of the Marquess.

Seth was astonished by the sight of the Marquess’ estate.

The marquess had land on his own in the east of the kingdom. The mansion in front of him was only a temporary stay for when the marquess had a business in the capital.

All of them got down from the rides near the entrance.

Servants were rushing as they stood in line before the estate and shouted in unison. "Lady Agnes, young master Seth, welcome home!"

Seth could hear Celia muttering to herself, “Wow, is this how nobles are usually treated?”

‘No, it is not.’ he replied inwardly.

Agnes took a step in front and asked one of the servants. "Where is the marquess?"

The butler, dressed neatly in a black tailcoat, stood at the front of the welcoming party. With a respectful bow, he replied to Agnes. "His Lordship is currently at the court. Lady Agnes, the crown prince has summoned you. He said you should go to him immediately once you return."

The crown prince and Agnes have had a close relationship since they were young. As the heir of a marquess, she spent most of the time working by his side whenever he had to go to other places for important businesses.

Agnes’ expression shifted with a subtle frown. “Is that so? Then it can’t be helped.”

She turned to face the people behind her with a bitter smile. “It's unfortunate, but I have to go first."

Seth could feel her gaze, which was stuck at him for a moment. She seemed to be hesitating about saying something. Even without her saying anything, he knew that she wanted to spend more time with her brother, who just got home.

"Mr. Richard, they are our guests. Please treat them with the utmost care."

"Of course, Lady Agnes."

Seth watched as Agnes rode on the horse and then left the estate before turning back to look at the butler. Before he could say anything, Seth spoke first.

"Celia and Isaac will be staying in the guest rooms temporarily. And these two merchants, Berko and Orion," he gestured to them. “I bought some things from them. You settle everything. I have other things to do.”

He did not have time to take care of them, as he needed to settle the twins with royal bloodlines first. He was afraid of others discovering them.

Richard seemed surprised as he looked at them but quickly regained his composure. “Young master, you brought so many guests. I’ve never thought that you can make a lot of friends.”

Seth gave him a cold glance. “What did you say?”

Richard pretended that he didn’t hear him. “Dear esteemed guests, please follow me.”

"You." Seth stared at a random maid who stood behind the butler.

Upon calling her, she was startled. "M-me?"

"Where is the estate mage?"

"U-um, I think he's in the west building."

"Bring me to him."

Seth looked at Celia and she gave him a questioning face. He moved his gaze to the space beside her, which he assumed was where the twins were. They were hiding under the Invincible Cloak so no one could see them.

Celia understood what he was implying and patted the air for the twins to follow him.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

‘I didn’t know that we had a good tacit understanding.’ Seth joked as he pretended that nothing happened between them.

Before he left to follow the maid, he forgot something. He turned back to Richard and said, "Oh, yeah. Don't forget to send generous gifts to the village chief in Tudela Village. He'll know what to do with it."

“Huh?” Richard was confused, but Seth didn’t elaborate further.

He left them without looking back. The female servant seemed to be frightened of something as she led the way in a hurry.

She moved swiftly in the hallway, almost breaking into a run. He kept pace with her in long strides. However, the twins struggled to keep up, and their steps echoed loudly in the quiet hallway.

“Hey, you-”

Before he could tell her to slow down, the maid suddenly stopped and said, "It's here."

The door was already open.

"Okay, thanks?"

The maid flinched and then ran away.

He recalled Seth’s personality. He had a short temper and would throw objects at servants whenever he was angry. The maid might be one of his victims.

A circular room with high ceilings decorated with glowing runes. Towering bookcases lined the walls of the room, and a circular table covered in magical paraphernalia, including crystal balls, vials of weird fluids, and various enchanted tools, stood in the middle of the space.

“Young master Seth? What brings you here?” The estate mage was wary and hesitant as he asked.

Seth closed the door behind him and locked it without turning around.

Upon seeing his action, the estate mage became more vigilant and nervous. He had a foreboding feeling that he would be the victim of Seth’s vent of anger for today. He didn’t think that he could escape his fate.

“You two don’t need to hide yourselves anymore.”

Under the Invincible Cloak, Noel was hesitant. “Are you sure, mister?”

Leon was also wary of the middle-aged man in front of them. “What if he tattles us to the king?”

“What’s going on, young master?” The estate mage was confused, as he couldn’t see anyone besides the two of them.

Seth ignored him and spoke to the twins. “Yes, it’ll be fine. I promise you.”

There was no movement for a while before the twins finally revealed themselves. The mage was surprised.

“Huh? Oh, there are other people. Red hair, yellow eyes… aren’t they…?”

The twins flinched and became more wary of the mage.

The mage was knowledgeable enough that he recognized the two.

“It’s as you thought. I’m here to ask you to change their appearances.”

“Change their appearances? But they are the children of the king! If the king finds out-”

“Just do what I said. Don't ask any other questions.” Seth said it sternly.

“But young master…” The mage was still hesitant as he looked around, fearing that there might be members of the king's army concealed somewhere in the room. He felt like what he was doing was taboo, and he could get punished at any moment.

“Are you loyal to the king or the marquess?”

“Of course, it’s the marquess. That’s exactly why I’m worried that hiding these children will harm the marquess.”

‘Along with me,' he continued in his head.

Seth walked to one of the tables and took a look at the vials. “You know their identity, but you don’t seem to know the conflicts going on between the royal family. I brought them here because they’re in danger of being pursued by the other members of the royal family. How can you have the conscience to let them get captured? Do you know what will happen to them?”

The mage wasn’t the slightest bit convinced as he looked at the twins and then at the calm young man. ‘That’s the last thing I expect from him. It’s impossible for him to care about someone else.’

The mage hesitated for a moment, but eventually, he agreed. “If they find out about this, the manor will be in danger.”

“As long as you do your job seriously and keep this a secret, no one will know.”

The mage went to grab a staff on the table and muttered some incantations. With a flick of the staff, their appearances changed, concealing their identities effectively. The color of their hair and eyes turned brown, and the beautiful, sharp look of their faces decreased significantly. They looked more like background characters that didn’t stand out amongst the crowd.

"It’s done. I’ve used the best Disguise Magic that I could. Only those with a trained eye for detecting magical disguises or someone possessing a magical ability specifically designed to pierce through illusions would be able to see through the Disguise Magic."

Seth walked to the children and examined their appearances. They were still dirty and hadn’t changed their clothes, but he couldn’t recognize them as the children he found in the Cursed Village.

He took a glance at the mage and praised him sincerely. "Good job."

The mage looked at him warily and spoke with trembling lips. “Young master, even if you have interests in children, kidnapping the members of the royal family is…!”

“Stop! What the hell are you talking about?!”

He immediately shut his mouth.

Seth got goosebumps from his baseless accusation.

“I’m not as despicable as you think.”

“I’m sorry.”

Even if it was the original Seth, he didn’t go as low as the mage thought.

"Ugh. I’m leaving. Noel, Leon, let’s go."

"Brother, you look so different!"

"Our face isn't so bad, but the previous ones are still better."

"Yeah, we resemble more like mom."

As they left the west building, Seth felt like a string had been untied from his mana core. He looked out the window and saw Richard sending Berko and Orion off.

He immediately approached them.

"Young master, I've settled the debts you owed them," Richard noticed him approaching and said deliberately.

‘Yeah, I know.’ He felt his mouth twitching.

Berko also saw Seth. "I thought you wouldn’t see us off.”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

Berko smiled. “Young master Seth, it was nice having business with you. You can use the ring to contact us anytime."

"Do you also give the ring to other customers?"

"Nope. It's only for you."

"You are a VIP customer, meow!"

They both winked at him. Seth was satisfied with their preferential treatment and bid them goodbye as they left with the caravan.

"Who are these children?" Richard finally voiced out his curiosity as he looked at the children following behind Seth.

"I picked them from the streets."

Leon burst into anger. “What did you say?!”

“Mister?” Noel was slightly offended, but then, remembering that that was how they met, she kept silent.

“It’s true, though?”

Richard was speechless for a second. He put his fist in front of his mouth and coughed in embarrassment.

“I see… But which street did you get them from? Are you sure that they don’t have any family members left?” The children's filthy appearance led him to assume that they were homeless, and somehow, they managed to draw the young master's attention.

‘Has he taken up a new hobby?’ Richard feared for the children's future when they were in the hands of the second young master.

Seeing the calculative look in Richard, Seth simply replied. “They don’t have any.”

As they returned to the building, a kid stood at the front door. He was taller than the twins, and he had blonde hair with bangs covering his blue eyes. The kid looked at Seth as though he was in shock.

Seth had three siblings. The first was Agnes, followed by himself, and then the last was this child, Elliot. Their mother passed away after giving birth to him, and her condition deteriorated, and she finally passed away. So, Seth hated him more than he hated his sister.

Seth didn't have the chance to approach Elliot before he ran away. Richard gave him a strange smile after Seth looked at him.

As they entered the building, Richard asked, "What are you going to do with these children?"

"They are our guests. Let them do whatever they want."

It took a few seconds before Richard replied. "Understood."

Seth did not care whatever was going on in the servant’s mind.

Richard smiled as he got closer to the children. “You guys are twins, right? What’s your name?”

The twins looked at Seth, waiting for his answer.

“Noel and Leon. That’s their name.”

There were many similar names like them, so Seth wasn’t worried that people would assume they were from the royal family.

“They are really cute. Young master, you should bring home more children in the future.” The twins avoided the hands of the butler, who tried to pat their heads.

"I'm tired. I want to rest in my bedroom. Take care of them."

The twins looked at him reluctantly, as they didn't want to be separated from him. However, he had to familiarize himself with the surroundings and adapt quickly.

"Of course, I'll treat them nicely. Come, Noel and Leon."

Seth stopped Richard before they could leave. He didn't know where his bedroom was.

"Go to my bedroom first. You lead the way.”
