Chapter 12 Making Someone Snap

Chapter 12 Making Someone Snap

In a blink of an eye, two months had passed since Jackson was dragged into the world of his novel.

He spent his days hara– teasing Ash, running away from the assassin who was dead set on completing the contract, and comforting the teary eyed Gilleon when he was beat up by Hubert.

Jackson settled into the daily routine at the Kurton manor. After a while he noticed that his body was beginning to bulk up. His runs began to take less time to complete, he began to dodge more of Hubert’s attacks, and he was able to put up a fair fight against the young trainee knight much to his satisfaction.

“Thats all thanks to my efforts, you fucker of a liability!”

“It’s my strength too gahahaha!”

Well. It was more like Ash gained the strength from training and Jackson was enjoying the fruits of his labor on the side.

Regardless, the author was quite satisfied with the progress that was made.

After taking over Ash’s body post training, there was a mischievous glint in the lazy author’s eye.

It was time to enact his next exhibit of entertainment. Stroking his abs, he felt confident he could accomplish what he wanted.

Hanging upside down from a tree outside Corvina’s room after escaping from Hubert, Jackson was beginning to question his long forgotten morality once more.

But. To see his creepy heroine in action would be well worth it. With a pair of binoculars he snatched from Noah’s office, the boy eagerly dangled and lied in wait to see Corvina’s treasure trove of ‘young master’ worship in action.

“AA-ack!”

With a vibrant smile affixed to her face, Corvina grabbed Ash by his feet after appearing out of nowhere.

Jackson was hung midair, and the author felt the dire circumstances of the situation as he flailed around. He flapped his arms around in hopes the inertia would help him to no avail. After panicking in fear, he began swimming in the sky as if would help him, before resuming to flop around like a fish out of water.

“Jackson~ what are you doing with my young master’s body?”

“C-corvina…”

A saccharine smile was plastered onto the typically reserved maid’s face. Chills ran down Jackson’s back as he watched her dangle him, her hands being the only thing between him and the ground 30 feet away.

To fully understand Corvina’s beef with Jackson, we will have to go back to several days before this incident.

----

Standing in front of the door to Ash’s bedroom, Corvina had a vibrant smile on her face as she greeted her young master.

“Young master, how are you today?”

With a honeyed voice dripping in sweetness, Jackson felt the pain of dealing with a certain brat fade into nothingness.

Ash got closer to the woman and clasped her hands tightly.

Corvina widened her eyes and trembled. Her dark black eyes glistened in the morning light. Her bangs covered the outer half of her eyes, but it brought Jackson’s attention to her dark eyelashes that fluttered nervously as if she were eagerly waiting in anticipation to what he would do.

With a shy demeanor, Corvina looked around in embarrassment and with the delicacy inconsistent with her customary behavior.

“Y-young master…”

“Corvina. Did I ever tell you how beautiful you are?”

With a small smile on his face Jackson widened his pink eyes and tried his best to appear angelic. He knew the maid would be overly pleased with the compliment, and would likely begin to blush and become endearingly shy. This was from her ‘lovely young master’, the apple of her eye after all.

“…”

The maid froze in place.

After a brief moment where she turned her head down, Corvina raised her face once more with a dangerous look in her eyes. The shyness had evaporated at once.

“T-to pretend to be the young master, and to say those w-words to me….”

“A-ack!”

There was an insane look in Corvina’s eyes that seemed like whirlpools of resentment and gloom.

“T-to mock the young master!!”

From underneath her skirt, Corvina skillfully flipped a knife into her hand and raised it at Jackson.

“P-pay for your crime with your life.”

“...Corvina?”

The author was bewildered and fearful all at once.

“Out! Out!! How did you know?!”

“Hubert kindly informed me against the young master’s hijacker. Now die.”

Crap. He got ahead of himself and got exposed.

“W-wait! Remember, this is Ash’s body too!”

“T-then…”

She briefly hesitated for a moment in which the dangerous glint had faded. But it was too early to rejoice. With an reignited insanity, she walked closer to Ash as he desperately backed off.

“Although I can’t touch the young master’s precious body…”

Her eyes flashed brighter.

“I can still mentally torture you for daring to posses the young master.”

With a crazed smile at odds with her typical calm front, Ash crawled away and hid behind the bed frame.

“Wha–”

The crazy woman walked to him with the listless energy of a swaying zombie, but the look in her eyes was anything but composed.

“EE-EK! Get away from me!”

It was to no avail. The zombie continued to creep onwards with that dead look in her eyes. He squeezed his eyes shut and scrambled to think of clues. His thoughts churned over and over for any possible methods of coaxing her, before a sudden idea came to mind that caused him to open his eyes quickly.

Wait, wait, wait. He almost forgot an obvious detail.

“Corvina! Your young master can see and hear everything that I do, s-so don’t do anything stupid.”

The woman stopped in her tracks immediately. A desperate hope began to light in Jackson’s heart.

“T-the young master…can see everything?”

“Yes, yes!”

Jackson desperately prayed for the maid to get as far away from him as possible.

“The young master…”

After repeating her words in a trance-like state, Corvina’s insane glint seemed to have departed little by little.

“How embarrassing…to have lost my cool. I’m sorry, young master.”

Her cheeks blushed into an endearing shade of red. Feeling a little victorious, Jackson nervously smiled after realizing his defense was fool proof. With Ash on the line, Corvina wouldn’t be able to touch him.

It wasn’t how he expected. But the end result was still a blushing, bashful yet beautiful sight for sore eyes.

“Hehehe–heUH?”

Suddenly, Ash felt as though Corvina was looking at him as if he were a dead man. Her dark pupils appeared like two voids that threatened to envelope his mind. Her lips widened across her face before curving into a mockery of a smile, as though the maid was expending all her efforts to maintain a semblance of her usual state.

“Yet. To have made me show such a face to the young master.”

Her morphed expression began to correct itself into a gentle smile as Jackson pulled himself closer to the bed frame.

“I will never forgive you.”

With that ‘calm’ expression on her face, Corvina turned away and left the room. She stopped at the exit. And gave a long, lasting smile in Jackson’s direction– before gently closing the door like she usually did.

Frozen as a statue, the author continued to hide behind the bedframe and thanked the lord that Corvina had her inhibitions for Ash.

“C-corvina? What the hell…”

Seems like the rose colored glasses of the first crush of his mini protagonist ended. Well, Jackson had originally written that Ash had discovered Corvina’s temple of worship, so it was only a matter of time…

“Surprised, my little protagonist? This is the real face of the woman you had a crush on, you sis con.”

He couldn’t help but be sympathetic to the foolish brat. Regardless, Ash was too fun to tease. “Shut up! You fucker caused all of those mess in the first place! Shit, shit shit!!”

Thinking back to the incident in which the author was exposed, Jackson felt a sense of dismay as he struggled midair as he was hung by his leg.

“Please, please please pleaseeeee….let me off?”

Rubbing his hands together in prayer, he used his secret weapon.

“You fucker!”

His Ash face card.

With a sad begging expression on his face, Jackson’s pink eyes glittered pitifully as they became teary. It was like a sad puppy being left out in the rain, and the effectiveness was supposed to be high. After all, he practiced in the mirror for a day like this.

Jackson’s cheeks were suddenly pressed together with an angry smile on Corvina’s face.

“Jackson. Do not morph the young master’s lovely visage into someone unrecognizable.”

“...Corvina…”

“Er gwipping too had…”

Jackson's heart and head hurt. Well, technically the ache was more of a disappointment. What happened to having beautiful women fawn over him?

“...my apologies, young master.”

With a yelp Jackson was gently carried off the tree by and lightly placed onto his feet.

“...”

It worked out one way or another.

Jackson will await the day, where he could rip through the battlefield and assassinate a variety of fellows for money. Until then he made do with his current weak teen body that was easily carried and manhandled by the maid on steroids.

Corvina thoroughly observed his body with a concerned look on her face, before sighing in relief and patted off her maid apron. After readjusting her bonnet, she turned away as if she couldn’t bear to look at the imposter any longer.

“Don’t forget my words. Jackson. If a single hair on Ash’s body is harmed by you…”

The crazed maid’s eyes began to darken.

“I will rip your mind apart.”

With that smile still on her face, Corvina walked off and left Jackson with cold sweat.
