‘What was this insane amount of pain I was feeling right now even after I had died. Don’t’ tell me that I had arrived in hell???’
My eyelids felt heavy as I slowly forced myself to open them and look at the darkness spread out in front of me. This doesn’t look right. There’s no demon, Cerberus or anything even remotely familiar that you would see in the afterlife.
Moreover, the pain assaulting my body continued to ensue even when there was nothing around. Could I have been injured?
“Damn it all, am I not even allowed to pass away in peace?”
Getting up to my feet, I was surprised to see small puddles of liquid scattered around. I would have thought that It was my blood, due to how much pain I was feeling however there was just one problem. It was purple.
Fast forward a few minutes, I was still standing in the exact same position. Stunned and trying to figure out my situation.
“Hmm, it seems unbelievable that this place could be either heaven or hell. But I was sure that I had jumped off that skyscraper. There was no way that I could have survived that, so what exactly is happening right now?”
Suddenly, a realisation came to me. IT seemed unbelievable, but I recalled that during my highschool years I had been obsessed with reading light novels. One particular plot that was omnipresent in most novels was what was known as transmigration.
“There’s no way that I had transmigrated, right? It can’t be reincarnation as I am clearly injured and not a baby… So it is most likely that I had somehow crossed over to this place, that is probably not Earth.”
Years of experience being a solo gamer had allowed my mind to be calm when facing tense situations. These injuries had probably come from travelling through dimensions, but if so then how the hell could I even be alive in the first place. Looking down at my body for the first time, I exclaimed:
“HOLY SHIT! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?”
Insanely grievous wounds were present on my purplish pale skin which was lacerated with cuts and slashes. There was not a single patch of skin that had not been filled with blood and the mere sight of the state of my body was enough to almost make me puke.
‘Why does this body look so familiar? …. Wait. This is the body of Demon King Azaroth!! My in game character for Auora Online.. How was this possible?’
I felt conflicting emotions as that sudden realisation came to me. It was not only once that I had dreamt of becoming my in game character in real life. My design of him had been the ideal type of person I had wanted with overpowered strength, domineering looks and a sculpted body reminiscent of a Greek god.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Standing at a height of 2 metres, pale purple skin, a topless upper body half covered in a large dark blue tattoo of a snake like dragon as well as silver ram horns protruding from my head. Long, silky silver hair flowed down past my shoulders and blood red pupils shone in the darkness. Anybody that looked at me would probably think the same thing. ‘Demon King!’, or something similar.
“Now that I’m in this body, that means that I should still have retained my powers.”
My body was regenerating at rate visible by the human eye evident due to my characters powerful healing abilities so I thought that now would be the appropriate time to test out my combat ability.
“Nether Flame”
A small bluish silver flame appeared on the tip of my fingers as I quietly chanted out the name of a spell only usable by me. Seeing that I was able to use magic, relief overcame me.
“It seems like I would at least be able to survive and take care of myself in this foreign world. Azaroth although having extremely absurd physical capabilities, his main strength and what caused everyone to fear him was his magical capabilities”
The small flame was unlike typical fire, possessing the power to not only burn in the physical world, but also in the spiritual. Burning someone with the nether flame would erode their soul, spirit and eat their mana as well, making it a nemesis for both warriors and magician alike.
Players in Auora Online did not possess stats and skill points like any other cliché game, but everything that was learnt was embedded within the users mind and increasing their efficient depended on the person’s understanding themselves. Meaning that the reason that the Demon King Azaroth was able to become as powerful as he is was also due to my countless hours of research and physical training in the real world.
Szzzzhhh
The sizzling sound stopped as the last of my wounds finally closed up. Peering into my space inventory, I recognised the numerous treasures and equipment that I had gathered throughout the users. Putting on a full body plate mail and leggings made out of a black metal and trimmed with golden edges, I looked like an imperial knight serving a massive kingdom.
The last thing that I need to take out, was my beloved weapon that had accompanied me in game for the last 5 years. A enormous blade came out that was entirely covered in a shiny, glowing red colour. The ominous symbols carved on it’s handle exposed a deadly aura. The blade’s name was Rashomon and it had taken the lives of millions and millions of players, reeking a strong scent of blood.
The imposing blade contrasted with the majestic black and gold armour as I looked like some bloodthirsty demon god. The preparations were finally complete. Understanding my situation, I realised that it was finally time to leave the cave and explore the world…
“God has given me a chance to live my life as the Great Demon King Azaroth! From here on afterwards, Max Steward is now gone. What’s a good name. Let’s see..”
“That’s right! I shall now be called Azaroth Calamorne”
‘I will not end up like those foolish characters portrayed in light novels that are constantly restrained by others and follow their biding. Instead in this life, I will live doing whatever I want and now that I am the Great Demon King Azaroth, I shall bow down to nobody!”
Walking towards the entrance cave after 5 minutes, a bright light could be seen coming closer and closer. The cool wind blowing from outside the cave could finally be felt, rustling my long, silver hair that shone under the bright light. Excitement filled me as I looked forward to what would await me in this foreign world.
