After returning from the relatively more crowded ‘Western Market’, Ovid and Anna returned back to the secluded cauponae. Ovid washed his feet and went to sleep. Anna had chosen to use the public baths instead.
On the next day, Ovid sat on the desk placed at the corner of the room and copied down some textbooks he had read from his previous life.
When he had learnt that Anna had achieved a perfect preception, he was certainly feeling disappointed and lost. But the time took was very little to rouse himself back to his normal, tranquil mood.
He wasn’t like to idle around and leave the world to decide his fate, but he had no choice. Yet since he has to wait, he should certainly spend his time in a productive manner.
There is never enough tomorrows. This was one of the first things his mother thought him.
Looking at the words on the paper, he heaved out an inaudible sigh.
---
Hundreds of miles away from Phalaris, in the wind and snow, a woman wearing an imperial purple robe lifted the corners of her lips.
Irene had just told her Anna had taken the first step.
She had been solidifying Anna’s foundation for a very long time and had prepared her well, but even she did not expect the little girl to achieve it in less than a day. At least, it should have taken her a week, Julia thought.
Placed next to her chair was an oil candle. As long as the flame burns, it means that Anna is in no danger, however, it could not determine her location, so she could only rely on Irene for these things. Even if Irene was not loyal to her, the porcelain-like girl could not do anything to harm Anna.
The snowstorm suddenly stopped.
The snow didn’t stop falling but the sky, but rather, the pedals had stopped mid-air. It had stopped.
The sound of wind had also stopped, rendering the valley silent. Julia raised her head from the oil candle that continued to burn in the blizzard and looked at the frozen shores. Her expression grew drowsy, and if she was going to fall asleep on her wooden chair at any moment. However, her body carried an authoritative, attentive aura.
A distinct cut appeared from the shorelines, it had cut through the ice and then the open frigid air.
The Great Dividing Range was completely inhospitable and had continued to snow from the earliest moments she could remember.
Julia had lived a long, long time.
So how could this slash stop the snow and wind?
“I’ve sent messages that I came here to sightsee and pick a few flowers. I ever swore the letter on my honour that I won’t steal anything. Don’t you think this response is a bit uncalled for?”
A voice echoed through the mountain ranges. The voice was very warm and seemed to melt away the eternal snow that sits upon these mountain tops.
Julia rubbed the handle of her chair a little, but she did not return anything.
Of course, she wouldn’t respond, she was an empress, while he could be considered hooligan.
But what kind of hooligan prompted her to come here?
Facing the oldest and strongest being in the world, this person seemed completely carefree, as though he was walking around a pleasant courtyard.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Within the silence of the valleys, the sword slashed through the mountains and continued to grow gradually larger. From a wooden boat, a person stepped foot on the continent.
Walking behind the sword slash, the person seemed to that of the literary type. His clothes were long and reached the floor. It was as white as the snow surrounding him.
Only after walking into the valley did the unfathomable sword strike disappear after severing many mountains.
His hair was tied into a bun as if he was a youngster who spent all his time reading. But judging but his undisciplined look within his eyes, he seemed to be a hooligan. But if one looks deeper, they would find bottomless wisdom, as if he had served under countless emperors.
The man walked through the snow slowly. In his hands was a thin bamboo stick, which swayed gently in the wind. He seemed very casual and unrestraint, just like a hooligan.
“Your reputation has never been good. Who would trust you.”
Julia closed her eyes as if sleeping, but said, “You have just taken the final step, but chose to come here. Perhaps you think I’ve gone senile?”
Only a saint could make Julia interested in speaking so much. Of course, that excludes Anna.
There was only one person that ascended to sainthood in the past thousand years.
The wayfarer Cai Hua.
To the northern kingdoms, Julia was the most terrifying existence. But further north, across the Afiloxenos Ocean, Cai Hua was the scariest existence.
Cai Hua was an oddity, an existence completely uncounted for. He a walking calamity.
Cai Hua didn’t mind what Julia said about his reputation.
He was a wayfarer cultivator and had refused to settle down countless times, completely uninterested in the politics of the world.
He was only interested in increasing his longevity and seeing pretty scenes.
He was also interested in beautiful women.
He said straightforwardly, “Of course not. Your skin is so smooth, how would your mind go bad before your body?”
Julia looked at Cai Hua and smiled, she squinted her eyes and caused them to become long and thin, like the bamboo in Cia Hua’s hands. However, it was filled with irritation and was more akin to a broad sword.
“Shouldn’t you be worrying about yourself first then?”
Hearing this, Cai Hua also smiled and squinted his eyes. They seemed to carry the joys of a young man being accepted by a woman. However, they were filled with the sharpest sword intent.
He looked up at the starry skies and said, “How did you know? Did the old emperor tell you this?”
Julia responded calmly, “I know a few more things about you.”
Cai Hua’s smile disappeared like the snow beneath his feet. His asked seriously, “Did the old guy tell you about some of my tales?”
Julia smile grew deeper, she answered, “When you were in spiritual founding, you killed one of the northern emperor’s governor and raped her daughter. Later on, when you were in grand spirit, you eloped with the princess and stole half of their imperial treasury. If I didn’t know Alexander, I would consider you as the craziest man that exists in the entire world.”
Cai Hua explained himself seriously, “The situation with the governor’s daughter was a little unique. You can’t blame me.”
Julia closed her eyes again, avoiding the conversation.
Cai Hua said, “Since you know what kind of person I am, and now that I’m an immortal. What is the point of this?”
Julia said seriously, “Because I am stronger than you.”
Cai Hua raised a brow, “What I don’t understand about you is how you’ve yet to have ascended to the celestial realm. Even that guy that defeated you back then couldn’t compete to a toe of yours today.”
It was widely accepted that Julia is the strongest person to exist in the current moment. Her age was something completely shrouded in mysterious and something even the owner at Phalaris city wasn’t aware of.
With this status, also came countless challengers, but even Alexander couldn’t manage to kill her.
“Since you know you can’t compare with me, why come to my domain?”
Julia looked at Cai Hua with a gaze he was familiar with since he had met that old emperor a couple of times. “That emperor up north had personally asked me to capture you. Since I already know your intention coming here is the everlasting flower, I naturally prepared an ambush for you.”
Cai Hua said awkwardly, “I’ve seriously come here to just pick up that everlasting flower and sightsee for a bit. The wealth I carry with me isn’t that much, and I don’t have any official position. In comparison with the other saints, I’m not worth you personally coming for.”
“Don’t you know that being overly modest is very disgusting?”
Julia shook her head, “I am one of the important saints you described, so I’m well aware of our attitude toward life. We’ve grown old and only care to grow older and accumulate wealth. However, you are different. Aside from a few people, you have little mortal bonds with, if you want to kill, you don’t have to pay attention to anyone on your side suffering consequences… you can kill as you like. If you suddenly go mad and decide to murder indiscriminately in my territory, that would be a great disaster. Someone like you cannot go any further inland.”
Cai Hua coughed a few times. He suddenly smiled like a little boy and said, “Having such a pretty woman say so many compliments is quite nice.”
Julia laid back on her chair, preventing not to have heard what Cai Hua said. She mumbled “Your wives should be here yet. If they come later, I will just kill them one by one.”
Saying this, Julia seriously fell asleep. She was not injured, but her complexion was terrible.
At the same time, Cai Hua began to cough. His frail face began to pale, and streams of blood began to flow from the edges of his lips.
In the background of the conversation, it turned out the two had been already fighting!
The bamboo stick in Cai Hua’s arm swayed. Suddenly, his sleeves moved.
In the snow and rain, the sleeve lightly rose up and rippled, and then that frightening blade energy surged up once more.
His sword slash appeared in the sky, as did a mountainous silhouette in the area surrounding the valley. Her overbearing pressure could not be understated.
A saint had appeared.
A few invisible blades of wind burst out from the faraway city of Phalaris. It travelled through the sky and met his sword slash.
Cai Hua stared at the sleeping woman. He turned his head to look to the north and wondered when that princess he eloped with would come.
