Chapter 9- Ice Fort
Master Taku and Master Xu were quite concerned for Yin, having a dragon without ability is really something to be concerned about, the whole future of Yin will be much tougher if he won’t have a dragon ability.
They sighed and said, “Don’t worry maybe there is something that happened, you might have gotten some special ability… You just don’t know of it yet.” Master Xu spoke wanting to console Yin.
“Don’t worry elders, I don’t need a dragon ability, I can do it myself, those dragons are extremely haughty!” Yin said, he really didn’t like the way that dragon treated him.
“Alright, do not worry about it for now let’s just go back, today we will start training.” Master Taku spoke calmly.
“Then I’ll be leaving as well, since there is no more troubles.” Mastur Xu spoke, Master Taku and Yin nodded and Master Xu disappeared.
“Let’s go as well.” Master Taku said, as he took Yin on his shoulder, and both of them disappeared.
Yin was really amazed by Master Taku’s speed he moved much faster than Master Xu.
“Elder, can I ask what rank are you?” Yin asked, he had big respect for the elder.
“I’ll tell you today during training.” Master Taku spoke.
Yin nodded not asking anymore, ‘Hey dragon, why are you so haughty?’ Yin asked the haughty dragon honestly, he knew that there is no way to get rid of him. He should befriend him at least.
“Kid, it’s because of you humans that we dragons are now in such a miserable form. We should be superior to you humans, but look now we are nothing more, but play toys.” Livyathan spoke.
Yin was angered, “No wonder you got killed, acting so haughty.” He spoke to him, but the dragon didn’t answer anymore.
….
In just a moment Yin and Master Taku arrived back at the Blizzard Basin.
“Kid get ready and get to the training grounds, today's training will start in ten minutes.” Master Taku said as he disappeared, leaving Yin next to his house.
Yin nodded, as entered the house seeing that the guys were out, he came to conclusion that they were out training.
“I guess it’s finally starting.” Yin said as he took of to the training grounds.
Training grounds are made of, practice matches area, training dummies area, body building, obstacles training area and elemental training area.
Besides normal ranks there is also Physical ranks which is basically divided into ten levels, it’s said that in order to become olympian one’s body has to be level three so that the body could hold the Qi. But that’s only for martial artists, deviners on other hand doesn’t need physical power to hold magical Qi in your head where magical core exists. For this reason martial artists spends a lot of time on the physical training and they usually don’t try to surpass level three of physical power as they better spend time cultivating. At the same time when one absorbs the Yin and Yang Qi some of it goes to the body which strengthens it just slightly, while the rest goes to the dantian where it is transformed into elemental Qi.
Entering the training grounds at this time Yin could see bunch of people, running, lifting rocks, kicking and punching dummies, practicing and showing of techniques. It was eye catching and absolutely amazing, ‘These people are real warriors, all of them tries their best, for one or another reason, but they are pushing their limits.’ Yin thought as a flashback came to his mind.
…..
“Come one Kid stop fucking around and swing that axe!” A bald tough looking very old man said as he looked at Yin. At this time Yin was barely eleven years old, he looked so skinny half to death, one couldn’t see much muscles on his body, nor much fat. His eyes is lifeless, without hope or emotion, barely lifting small axe he chopped at the tree leaving just small mark.
The old man sighed as he looked at Yin, ‘This kids eyes...He looks dead inside, just as much as outside,’,”Kid come here I still have some food, get few bites.” The old man said.
Yin looked at the old man as he lifelessly walked next to the old man, “If you help me, you will die…” Yin said looking at him.
“Shut up kid, I already lived my life. You… You still have whole life in front of you, you should never give up kid. Remember these words kid if you ever give up, what is there to live for? If you want to really die than you have your axe, what are you waiting for! You could have died long ago if you really wanted it.” The old man said as he gave Yin a piece of meat.
Yin couldn’t understand himself why he is still trying to live. His life is probably as miserable as it gets, the only people that would help him is those who gave up on their lives. Because of painful loss of every person that helped him he slowly started to reject all the feelings, he started to become less and less emotional. For some reason every time he was about to die, he would want to live very strongly in the end surviving.
“Kid do you have a dream?” The old man asked seeing Yin eating the meat slowly.
Hearing this Yin fell into deep thought, ‘Dream?’ Yin asked himself.
“What is having a dream means?” Yin asked the old man, staring at the him curiously.
The old man sighed, “Something that you want to do, something you want to achieve.”
Yin thought deeply before long he answered, seemingly some liveliness was back to his eyes, some passion could be heard from his voice, “Sir, what I want is to protect people that I love and never get them hurt! Sir I really want to protect those who help me. Be. Because everyone I care about always leaves me.... because I am so useless…”
The old man laughed, he had big smile on his face, “Then stop giving up, if you want to protect those you care about you must first be strong yourself! How do you think one becomes strong? Kid when I was young and joined army, I was weakest in the whole army… But I never gave up, kid I never gave up, when I face enemies, I didn’t run from them, I fought them till the last drop of my blood. This is the reason I survived every single time, I managed to become the general, because I never gave up kid,”

…..
The old man’s words startled him. The words of that old man stuck in his head and till this very day he didn’t know why he can’t forget them, but neither did he want to forget them.
“Hey, Yin!” Suddenly sound came from the left side of his, turning his head he saw Purk running towards him like a tank.
“What’s up?” Yin said as he walked towards Purk.
“I am sorry for yesterday man…” Purk said looking at Yin.
“It’s okay, you don’t need to worry, I would have been angry as well in your situation,” Yin answered as he shook his head, patting Purk, “so where is the training going to happen?” Yin asked looking at Purk curiously, it’s his first time in the training area after all.
“Ah it usually starts in the middle of the training grounds there is big flat land there where we usually all come together and train. The elders would give us advices on training, and sometimes answer question, sometimes would give advices. The elders would also show us some techniques which we would need to learn.” Purk spoke while they were walking.
Yin nodded as he spoke, “What techniques do the elders teach?” Yin was quite curious.
Purk smiled, “hehe, he would teach us movement techniques, fighting techniques, body strengthening techniques, sense strengthening techniques and such, but we are not allowed to use weapons for now. They say that before we learn to wield a weapon we should learn to fight with our bare fists and legs, because if in battle you lose your weapon somehow and you don’t know how to fight with fists, it’s certain death. Ah also that’s not the only reason! Second reason is because weapons are usually advantageous only at low ranks, higher ranks doesn’t matter if one wields weapon while the other doesn’t. Our master always says that, this world is extremely mysterious and so there is some unimaginable techniques, he told us a story once. It was about some girl who appeared three forty thousand years ago. She had an unimaginable strength and speed, the legend say that she didn’t even use elemental techniques and just by relying on her own body she would beat anyone. And she was only martial artist user that too, she could beat any King at the same rank, not even talking about only deviners or only martial artists. Unfortunately, the ruler of demons killed her before she was able to rise in strength…”
Yin’s blood went cold after hearing this; relying only on her body she could beat anyone at her rank… Anger swelled up in Yin, that demon ruler must be really despicable, he was afraid that she will beat him, so he eliminated her, truly extremely despicable…
Suddenly Livyathan spoke out, “Damn that demon ruler…” His tone extremely angry.
‘What about the demon ruler?’ Yin asked out surprised.
‘What do you care kid? *tch*’ Livyathan spoke out angry.
Yin gave a hmph and didn’t speak with that rude bastard.
In just a moment Yin and Purk arrived next to a big flat area which was covered in grunt. Currently many people of around Yin’s age were talking and displaying some techniques.
“Brother Yin, Brother Purk!” A shout came from the front as they saw Jakob and Zen nearing them, Jakob waving his hand, big smile on his face.
Seeing Yin healthy and well he said, “Brother you alright? Your body recovery is really amazing!” Jakob said, looking up and down.
“I am alright, Elder Xu helped me to heal up. hehe” Yin laughed as he scratched the back of his head.
“Whoa elder xu came here just to heal you? you must be something special eh. hehe teach me your secrets hehe” Jakob laughed evilly as he poked Yin few times.
Suddenly a crackling sound came as an elder landed in the middle of the training grounds powerfully. Sending some of the disciples flying, after the wave came ice spikes which grew from the ground instantly.
Everyone took few steps back as they were looking at the person, they sighed as they were already use to this.
“Hello students today are going to learn this technique today. First lesson of understanding its power should already be clear to you.” it was none other but Master Taku. It looked as if this method was quite cruel, but effective one could see that the elder is taking his lessons seriously.
Yin was flabbergasted, spikes went melemeters past the heads of the students. The technique is obviously instantaneous, and close ranged. Yin was quite flabbergasted by this technique and in no way he saw it as an ordinary technique
“Disciples, you must all remember that our clan is considerably new, but nonetheless most powerful in ice techniques. Since long ago when an Ice King Qin Ban established our Clan, we have kept his secrets in our clan and no one can compare with us in terms of Ice techniques. But just because we have strong techniques it doesn’t mean you will be strong! Technique is not about the technique it’s about how the user applies it in the battle! Technique without user is just pile of shit I tell you, and technique used badly is even worse! Every technique that we teach have stages! Applying principles, showing the principles, connecting the principles to one’s self and Joining the principles with the world and oneself. Remember some of you will never be able to reach the highest stage of these techniques if you waste your time on changing the techniques constantly and choosing one that does not suit your personality. If you cannot connect the technique to one’s self how you expect to reach higher stage? You simply can’t. But! Remember mastering the technique is not always important, because every technique is useful and mastering it only makes it stronger.” Master Taku spoke as a true master, his knowledge exceeds the students by leaps and bounds. He spoke honestly and without hint of waiver, the words were extremely intimidating and had the aura that they are unchanging.
“Yin listen carefully Master Taku knows his stuff for sure.” Purk spoke in agreement to elders words.
Yin nodded as he listened carefully.
“The technique, which I just demonstrated is called Ice fort. The name of this technique resembles the name, as it makes a fort out of ice spikes, but of course what I demonstrated is only first rank of this skill. In total this technique has seven ranks, each has four levels of understanding, nonetheless first rank is hardest to master.”
