Chapter 9: I get mah weapon … kind of

When I opened my eyes the next morning I saw huge green eyes directly in front of my face, with a shriek I reflexively closed my eyes again and let a force blast erupt in front of me, forcing everything in front of me away.

Opening my eyes again, I saw that my blanket had somehow gotten caught on the ceiling, while in the process also binding the being that woke me, it was Yoda by the way, there. It was quite the comical sight, one end of the blanket stuck at the ceiling, while the little green jedi was tangled up in the rest of it and was swinging slowly back and forth with a shocked expression on his face.

I couldn’t help myself as I began to giggle at the second thing I saw this morning. Yoda looked at me and then began to chuckle too before using the force to untangle himself and jump down from the ceiling.

„Not trying to wake you up in the future I will be. Good morning Shira and happy birthday.“

„Thank you master Yoghurt, but why are you here so early?“ I asked with a thankful smile, slightly tilting my head to the side.

I still called him Yoghurt, because I wasn’t supposed to know that he really was Yoda. He was known as Yoda only to the jedi council, the rest of the order knew him as Yoghurt, the funny and caring old master who took care of and tought the younglings.

How nobody figured out, who he really was was a riddle to me, there was a statue of him in the archive and since even the masters of the current masters masters were tought as younglings by Yoghurt, they should by then have figured out the abnormality that was Yoda, but since Rey and Luke were still alive too, them not thinking too much about it would made sense, more or less at least, considering the reason why those three were still alive was unknown to us lower jedi.

„Guests you have, to wake you up and bring you to them I am here“

That picked my interest. Having a guest was nothing special for a jedi, most of the time family members and childhood friends for those who joined the order at an older than normal age, some jedi had friends they made on missions or in their free time visit, but I had never had a visitor in my two years in the temple. I stayed in contact with my family via holo, as they didn‘t have an opportunity to leave Cathar yet.

„Really? Who is it? Who is it?“ I demanded cheerfully as I jumped around Yoghurt happily. An advantage of being a kid again was, being able to be carefree and hyper while not being viewed as crazy by other people and I used this opportunity fully.

„A surprise it is. Make yourself ready in order to meet them you must.“

He didn’t have to say that more than once as I thrust my hand out causing my locker to swing open and fresh clothes for the new day to jump into my waiting hand before using the force to gently close it again.

„I’ll take just a minute!!“ I called over my shoulder as I already sprinted in the direction of the bathroom. Inside I closed the door, undressed, using only the force of course, and jumped into the shower. In the shower I seated myself in a crosslegged position and closed my eyes. I concentrated and tried to remove any dirt, dust and anything else that normally is removed in the shower. I wasn’t able to control the force well enough to move the innumerable microscopic particles of impurities that amass on a body during a day and a night yet, but I was able sense them hazily.

Sighing and still with closed eyes I turned on the water for an instant and used the force to catch the water. A few drops escaped my grasp and fell to the ground, but I was able to suspend the majority of them in the air. I gently began to move the drops in different patterns and turned on the water again, this time letting it fall down on my body, as I slowly stood up and begn to shower, still making more and more complicated maneuvers with the drops in the air beside me.

It wasn‘t common to use the force like this. Even masters had problems controlling the force precisely enough to manipulate many different small objects in just as many different ways at the same time. It had taken me the whole last year (I was allowed to shower on my own when I turned one) to come this far with my control over the waterdrops, at the beginning I was only able to move them as if they where one object, two if I solely concentrated on that task.

This was a training I devised in order to be able to control smaller and smaller, as well as as many different things at the same time as possible.

When I began this training I had asked myself, why the Jedi didn’t use the force with the efficency I envisioned, now I knew the answer: It was an unbelievably difficult thing to do. I was one of the greatest talents the order had ever seen, so I was able to work on what I wanted to achieve, but average and even very talented jedi would not be able to control the force this delicately without decades of training. I believed the jedi were aware of the power a force user could potentially achieve if he trained his force usage to be versatile enough, but they didn’t have the means to follow this path.

I didn’t know if Yoda, Luke or Rey were able to use the power I aimed to achieve, but they were probably the closest to it.

That didn’t mean I was at the level of a knight yet. There may have been few in the order able to use the force as inticrately as I did, but there were many who had much more power and a better connection to the force than I was able to achieve yet.

Finishing my shower I used the force again to remove all the water on my body and untangle any eventual knots in my hair and combing it, before dressing myself a small version of the traditional jedi tunic.

Normally I would have begun with another item of my personal training schedule then, but since I had guests I decided to skip that part and run out of the bathroom to find Yoda looking at his watch.

„Take ten minutes you did“ he declared with a strict expression on his face, though his eyes glinted mischievously „Next time say ten minutes you must“

I looked at him with a pout and returned: „If I hadn’t taken my time you’d lecture me about the importance of hygiene“ He had done that when I asked him to let me wash myself and threatend me that, if I wasn’t able to uphold an appropriate level of hygiene, he wouldn’t let me wash myself until I was eight years old.

Yoda just chuckled and turned around beginning to walk in the direction of the waiting room for guests. I threw my pajamas onto my bed and quickly tidied up my room with the force (there wasn’t much to tidy up) before running after Yoda.

„Can’t you use your hoverchair Master?“ I really wanted to meet these guests who came for me and felt quite giddy about the whole thing, but Yoda was as always, if it didn’t involve playing a game or having a lightsaberfight at least, walking at a snails pace.

„Those who rest, rust they do. Patience you must have little Shira. Not as fast as he used to be this old man is.“ He cited, though the effect of it was diminished by the teasing smile on his face.

With a huff I used the force to lift him off the ground and began to run towards the waiting area.

It took us a whole of five minutes to get there, the temple was huge after all and the waiting area wasn’t exactly close to the living quarters.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

When we arrived at the room I put the giggling Yoda, who clearly enjoyed the ride, down and walked through the automatic door.

When I looked at the waiting guests I didn’t even need Yoda to tell me who was there to visit me.

There they sat, not too far away from the entrance he tall and strong, she with already visible signs of her pregnancy, both with identical broad and happy smiles directed to me on their faces.

Without a word I took off running, leaping at them to tackle father to the ground were I felt strong arms embrace me, holding me, filling me with a warmth only a parents love can cause. It was the first time I could embrace my new parents.

„Hello there little Shira, how is my beautiful girl this morning?“ my father asked in a quiet voice.

„I’m fine daddy, mommy.“ I replied and let go of my father in order to jump up to hug my mother. I would have tackle-hugged her too, but didn’t think it would be smart to do something like that to a pregnant woman.

„Ohh, my baby“ my mother whispered with tears in her eyes, it was all in all a very touching reunion scene, that Yoda disturbed: „Go to Shira’s room we should, privacy there you will have.“

And so we went back the same way we came, this time taking quite a bit longer due to me not running, though myseriously Yoda’s hoverchair appeared when he left us alone…

Father insisted on carrying me the whole way, hugging closely, I didn’t complain, he was quite comfortable. We talked about this and that, anything that came to mind until we reached my room.

„This is really delicious“ commented mother as my parents sat on pillows on opposite sides of a low coffee table in the middle of my room. I was seated on the seat of honor: My mothers lap, who took great pleasure in patting my head and tail, which felt seriously good and comforting, though I was by now accustomed to petting, it was after all one of Luna’s favorite pastimes whenever I visited her.

Each of us had a cup of tea (some things had survived the change of culture since the migration of the human species) and a slice of double layered cheesecake I had made the day before, originally thought for a small birthday celebration tea party I had planned (though nobody knew that), from which mother had just taken her first bite.

„Really you like it? That’s good, I didn’t know if I had made it right.“ Mother looked at me astonished and voiced: „You made this? Alone?“ „No I had help.“ „I thought so, it’s dangerous to work in the kitchen Shira, …“ „the force helped me, I will never get hurt, when the force helps me!!“ I exclaimed with a huge smile, making mother gape again. This time father asked me: „Then were did you get the recipe? And the ingredients?“

„The recipe was in the archive and the nice cooks in the kitchens gave me the ingredients and the kitchen to make it, though they didn‘t want me to cook and bake without any of them watching me“ I explained with a pout at the end.

Mother sighed in resignation.

„Of course they did, who would leave a two year old alone in the kitchen? At least these people have some common sense. But anyway, could you give me the recipe?“

„Of course I will, though it will be hard for you to read.“ I said and streched out my hand to catch the page that just floated through the room (completly at random, I didn’t have anything to do with it, I swear) and gave it to mother.

„Which language is that? I have never seen anything like it!“ exclaimed mother, causing father to stand up and round the table in order to get a look at the strange runes written on the page.

„I don’t know what it is either“ he said and turned to me, „and I didn’t know our daughter had learned another language“

I giggled at them and revealed: „It isn’t in another language, it’s in basic.“

My parents looked at me confused as I continued: „This is ancient human script, from the time before humans came to Coruscant, they called the language English. English is the same spoken language as basic but the writing is completely different.“

„So in the jedi archives are even documents from that era?“

„The archive is the place with the most knowledge and information gathered in one place in the whole galaxy, if you dig deep enough it’s unbelievable what you might stumble over.“ Though I hadn’t really stumbled over this recipe. It was the recipe of a cake I loved in my first life. I had searched for this particular recipe in the storage of ancient human culture I found.

„I can translate it to basic if you want and mail it to you when you are back home.“ I offered, smiling at mother.

„I would like that, thank you“ mother replied smiling back at me.

Father too smiled and ruffled my hair before returning to his seat and continuing to eat his cake.

„By the way, how come you’re here? I’m really happy that you visit me, but I thought you had to stay back at Cathar or be imprisoned by the security forces.“

Father sighed and laid down his fork before explaining: „There is unrest back on Dubrillion, the people have demanded of the senate to reinstate the Drayen dynasty on their planet. Our family ruled Dubrillion since the days of Risha and Ducion Drayen five thousand years ago and in that whole time there wasn’t a single rebellion or any large dissatisfaction among the people. Our planet was peaceful until the brief rule of the galactic empire and again from then on until the days of my father. The senator of Dubrillion turned to the jedi council for their help in finding me and the council sent master J’zargo who brought us here to Coruscant in order to attend the senate session that is to decide about my fate and that of Dubrillion.

As the one who spoke the most against my fathers uprising and because of the fact I have a daughter who is going to become a jedi I’m probably going to be crowned king of Dubrillion.

Considering today is your birthday we decided to come by for a surprise visit. Had we come any other day we would’ve announced our visit.

That of course leads us to …“ he reached behind in order to bring forward a backpack he had carried around the whole time. He opened it and took out a wrapped box on order to give it to me, taking my hand and at the same time as mother lovingly saying: „Happy Birthday Shira!“

I let a huge grin conquer my face as I jumped at and tightly hugged him, all the while proclaiming: „Thank you!! Thank you!!!“ My parents just laughed as mother wrapped her hands around fathers neck, hugging me between them.

After we broke our hug I took the box from father and unwrapped it. What came out was an ornate cube made from polished dark wood mounted by a chasing of silver and a lightly glowing glass like substance. Judging from the clasp and the hinges on the back of it, it was a case. I opened it and saw a pendant consisting of a single translucent crystal, glowing in all the colours of a rainbow from it’s insides embedded in a small silver crown.

It was a breathtakingly beautiful, but what made it really interesting was the connection in the force I felt. The crystal seemed to resonate with me and the moment I opened the case I knew, this cristal was meant for me.

„It’s so beautiful!!“ I called in wonderment as I took the pendant from it’s velvety white bed and held it up by it’s silver chain to look at it more in detail. Along the rim oft he crown it depicted there was a stroke proclaiming: GLADIVSFILIAEREGISLVNAE.

With my rusted Latin skills I was able to translate it: The sword of the moonprincess.

Whelps, here's the next chapter, a little late I guess, didn't have as much time this week.

IMPORTANT

I got a ton of positive comments about Bob, a character that wasn't originally supposed to be in the story, I made him on a whim while writing chapter 7 and didn't really plan to further include him, but thanks to your comments I created another scene with him and will continue to do so, so keep the comments coming, they'll aid me in making this story better.

When I began this chapter I didn't know what to write, it kind of became a chapter showcasing Shira's training, by the way, if you want to you can guess what kind of power Shira wants to achieve, a little foreshadowing of it is in this chapter, also the one who gets closest to guessing what kind of power her new weapon has (I think it's obvious what kind of wepon it is, it's about special ability) and the backstory of it, get's a virtual pancake filled with pudding.

NOT IMPORTANT

As you may have guessed from the important section I have decided on what kind of virtual food to give out: Pancakes filled with Pudding (from now on just pancakes). Hope you like my choice.

Every week it's the same struggle of thinking of something to write down here, I'm honestly impressed by the authors who are able to write those long authors notes, well knowing nobody's gonna read them ...

So, hope you liked this chapter, please give me a few comments, and reviews (those two reviews are getting lonely)

Until we meet in the comment section

Bye
