Chapter 6

Examining his new system page, John realized, he had somehow taken the snakes night vision, and venom immunity. Looking at the now brightly lit cave, he followed it, winding down into an s shape. At the end of the cavern, was the snakes den, and a brightly lit blue gem the size of a softball.

Walking to it, he could feel his instincts screaming at him to snatch it. Standing next to the gem, it felt warm, and comfortable to the touch. Picking it up, he heard the systems voice, Ding, Congratulations, System Mission: Complete. Reward: Montezuma’s Water Orb… attained. Reward: Giants Nature magic… Uploading…. Uploading complete…

Looking at his new system page he was startled to see a new system mission, directly after the former. Wondering about the place he would need to go to, he decided to ask Kristina when he made his way back.

Taking the gem back out of the tunnel with him, he passed the corpse of the snake along the way. Stopping and thinking for a moment, “I wonder how many evolution points this corpse would be worth.” Sitting down, he began drooling from the wonderful smell of the snake blood.

Sitting down, he began tearing into the snake, devouring it piece, by piece. Reading through the list, he focused on the new, “scale armor” skill from the skill tree. Focusing on his body, he began feeling an itchy sensation all over his body. Focusing again, pop, a layer of scales began popping through his skin, and covering his bare skin throughout his entire body.

Finished, he examined his new set of scale skin, pinching it, and trying to cut through it with the monster snakes former fangs and teeth, but no matter how hard he pushed the fangs and teeth in, the skin never gave way. After being particularly hard and pushing down onto his shoulder skin, the teeth of the snake snapped and crumbled in his hands.

Content with the rigorous testing, he picked up the head of the massive snake for a war trophy, and walked back to the front of the cavern. Walking out of the cavern and swimming to the top of the lake was much easier than swimming in. However, when he reached the top of the lake, he was immediately met with gun fire.

POP, POP, POP, POP, Boom! Rat,tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat! Breaking through the surface of the lake he was immediately met with rifle, submachine gun, grenade, and RPG fire. Immediately using his new skill for Scale armor, he dove into the nearest tree. Re appearing behind an armored Humvee, still shooting from its fifty caliber gunners nest.

The moment he appeared, the gunner tried swiveling his top gun, only for it to be too late. John grabbed ahold of the hummer by its front grill, tossing it upwards and flipping it on its back. Boom! Now inoperable, he gripped the massive hummer with both arms around its wheel wells, and twisted his body, pulling and twisting the hummer, and tossing it into the dug in group still shelling him with grenades and RPG’s.

Boom! Crash! The hummer crashed into the dugout with such strong force, that the ground rippled, from the impact. Pop, pop, pop, pop, Feeling the sting on the bullets hitting him, he turned, only to see a single, solitary soldier, walking up to him and unloading with his ar-15.

Confused, john walked up to him, waiting to see what he had up his sleeves, only to be surprised by the man’s stupidity. He had no secret weapon, but only the small arms he was using. Irritated at the letdown, John picked his leg up, and front kicked him into a nearby tree. Crack! BOOM!

Looking around at the group of soldiers fleeing the area, he began hearing the blades of helicopters barreling into the area. Looking around, he finally found a police wagon. Worrying about the possibility of Kristina being captured and harmed, he sprinted towards the armored wagon. The wagon immediately started, and begun fleeing the scene, picking up rapid speed, and purposely taking the harder routes for him to follow on foot. Fortunately, his skill came in handy once again.

Disappearing, and reappearing, he made his way to the fleeing wagon. Shrinking the distance between the two as he rushed. Finally within distance to leap onto the wagon, he adjusted his form and weight and, “POPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPPOP!!” The electric machinegun rattled thousands of rounds into him, dropping him, as the wagon pulled away.

Fully angered and bleeding from the helicopters attack, john looked around and found a boulder. Picking it up, he tossed it at the helicopter, missing it by only a few feet. However, this was not his real plan. Using his new skill, Giants nature magic, he used all of his energy towards a vine he had picked up, forcing it to grow rapidly, and using it like a lasso, he had the vine grab ahold of the helicopter, anchoring it by letting the vine grow on a big tree in the area.

Trying to pull away, the tree bent and twisted, but the vine and tree held strong, pulling the helicopter back and to the pilot’s horror, he watched as the massive 17 foot giant climbed the tree and vine like a monstrous giant monkey, and grabbed ahold of the helicopter. Smiling at the pilot, the scale laden giant smashed through the window, pulling him out, and devouring him whole.

Finally free of the helicopter, John jumped to the ground, chasing after the wagon. Minutes later, he finally pulled ahead of the vehicle, standing in front of the road it was taking. With no place left to turn, the vehicle attempted to ram through the monster, and the driver floored the vehicle, smashing hard into the beast, Boom!! Crash! Holding out both arms, and bracing for the impact, the armored wagon smashed into John, pushing him back dozens and dozens of feet, sliding to a stop.

Finally stopped, he took no chances, and twisted his waist, toppling the van over on its side. Boom! Hopping to the back of the wagon, where the cells would be located, he pulled the steel doors off of its frame, showing the soft underbelly of the vehicle. Not able to full walk into the van, he gripped the sidings, and pulled the steel armor off of the wagon, curling it up like a can of sardines. Screech! There, handcuffed and gagged, was his wife. Crying and wounded.

Anger engulfed his mind as thoughts of massacre and revenge flooded his every thought. Ripping the steel handcuffs and restraints off of her like dried weeds, he pulled her in for a hug. “I’m sorry, I should have thought of you before I evolved.” “I should have known they would have tried to take you.” thoroughly upset at himself, John looked around the area for a place to hide while she healed.

Thinking for a moment, he ripped out the drivers and devoured them whole, Ding +5 points +5 energy, Ding +5 points +5 energy. Rushing around the area, he began rapidly devouring anyone he saw, attempting to refill his energy and magic, and venting his anger and hatred. After devouring the twentieth person, he felt he had enough to accomplish his goal.

Fleeing from the area, he made his way as far away from people as he could. Finally satisfied after eight hours of sprinting and continuously using his skill, he stopped at a young weeping willow tree. Pouring in the newly created 100 points of energy to his nature magic, and pouring it all into the sapling, the tree began exploding in growth, wriggling and squirming as the roots and branches rapidly expanded.

Finally stopping once the tree was over one hundred feet tall, and with an absolutely massive root system. Opening up, John walked carrying Kristina down into the roots and earth.

Walking down, the roots spanned farther and farther down into the darkness. This newly formed cave system did not stop until it was miles underground. Even if the police or government did find this place, it would take them a very, very, long time to map it out and find their location. Not to mention, that if they did find them in this narrow and underground cavern, they would soon wish that they hadn’t.

Holding onto his wife, he rocked her back and forth in his arms like a newborn child, letting her fall asleep in his arms. Thinking of the revenge he would soon take for his wife’s injuries and suffering, as well as the massive amount of money they had just lost, he mind was flooded with thoughts of destruction and killing. However, the first thing he needed to do was to find a way to protect his wife when he isn’t there.

Standing in the bottom of the cavern maze, and rocking his injured wife to sleep, John began experimenting with his new skills in magic. At first it was relatively simple nature magic. Growing a seed into a sapling, and growing crops from a single seed. However, over time he began experimenting and growing in experience and talent.

Using the power to feed himself and Kristina, he also began creating hybrids of strange and bizarre plants, eventually creating a strange plant that created light like a lamp, and using the light, the plant caught flying insects attracted to it for food, with its sticky outside leafs. Using these plants he made the area more comfortable to live in with him. Days turned into weeks and eventually months, as he continued creating new, and improved plant magic’s.

From bed frames, and mattresses, to blankets and defensive plants, like his new exploding pinecone. His magic was rapidly improving. However, his most prized plant was a sentient vest plant, that weaved into her body with its roots, becoming part of her. This vest was bullet and knife proof, and came with exploding pinecones that were automated, so she wouldn’t even have to pull the trigger herself. Moreover, the vest also came with multiple defensive vines that are trained to tie up aggressors, and if there are too many, or they are too aggressive, also act as a whip, that is covered in neurotoxic thorns, and were faster than the eye can see.

Happy with his progress, John decided to ask Kristina about possibly moving along. However, as he made his way to their room, BOOM! A massive earthquake rocked the cavern, almost collapsing the caves they were in. Making his way down to Kristina bathing, he made sure she was okay, before heading up to the higher levels to take care of some unwanted guests.
