Kara woke up for the day it was a day like any other. The sun was shining and the Pidgey on my window sill was loud enough that sleeping an extra hour wasn't an option.
I got up and stretched then got dressed in my favorite pink dress as I left my room and walked down stairs to the wonderful smells of breakfast cooking. The scent of Coffee, toast, and eggs lured me into the kitchen.
“Morning Mom, breakfast smells wonderful today. Can I have some?” I asked stomach growling
“Go ahead, Kara, eat as much as you want, then I have a Pokeball for you.”
“Really but it's a week early.” Kara said with clear excitement
“I know but it took me a week to convince Drew my Sandslash to even join me. Then lets talk about your father who convinced Marsha, a raging Mankey at the time to join him as his starter. Now finish your breakfast so you and Drew can go out to either Route 22 or Route one to search for your starter.”
Kara hurriedly grabbed breakfast, scarfing it down.
Mom glared at me as I ate so fast.
“Slow down, it's not a race to eat the fastest. I know you are excited but it will do you good to have patience when going about things as it is unlikely the first pokemon you meet out in the wilds will want to join you as more than likely they will want you to prove yourself which is hard without a Pokemon.”
Kara barely finished her breakfast before responding “You're right I guess I’ll slow down.” Kara then grabbed her glass of juice and started sipping it till the glass was empty.
Kara then grabbed her bag getting ready to head out.
“Before you go you might want this.” Her mom held out a classic red and white ball.
“Thanks Mom. It wouldn’t be a very good idea to go out without that.”
“A word of advice since Drew is going with you. Drew is not here to help you prove yourself to a wild pokemon only to protect you if needed. Next up if you see any strange people looking for a battle or have a pokemon out that starts to approach you run away there are some bad people showing up in this area lately so be careful with who you approach. That's all for now and I hope a good Pokemon joins you.”
Kara shook her head beaming with joy as she took a step out into Viridian City.
While walking to route 22 Drew following close by I thought about why no one got a starter from Gym leader Giovanni.
Some think of him as strange as everything he does is like doing a business transaction then there's the gym he refuses to challenge anyone below seven badges so his gym is always closed till late in the season so he is always away. Getting a starter from him was also strange. He is a ground type gym leader but he gives away poison normal and dark type starters that always feel like there is a deal attached to taking it although no one who does take one tells why.

Finally I made it to the route and walked toward where the tall grass was.
Once there I started carefully exploring.
Any Pokemon would do for my starter.
First I saw a Rattata I walked up to it
“Would you be willing to join me on an adventure to grow stronger?”
The Rattata lazily looked at me and shook its head no as if that was the most obvious option.
“Thanks for considering I will be out of your way then.”
Several minutes later I finally ran into a small flock of Spearow as I approached Drew tapped my shoulder and shook his head.
I agreed with his insight and walked away from them to avoid angering them.
Finally I approached a Mankey which took 10 minutes to find.
It was strange that it was alone and not in a Troupe. I approached and Drew stood by me watching it as if it were dangerous.
“Mankey hello would you be interested in joining me as my starter.”
Mankey stared at her incredulously then responded “Manky Man Mankey.” in a challenging tone
“I can’t formally challenge you; Drew isn't allowed to help me in that way.”
Mankey looked disgusted at the gall Kara had to even ask it to join her without a proper challenge to see if she was worthy. It spit on the ground as an insult then walked away before its anger got the best of it.
For the next several hours Kara went from pokemon to pokemon getting rejected each time.
At last she finally found a different pokemon one she had never seen or even heard of before. It had a furry pink body, blue eyes and a large tail longer than its body that was wider at the end.
It cocked its head in curiosity and asked “Mew” ‘Child what brings you here.’
“I came to look for a starter Pokemon to join me on my journey. Do you perchance know of one who would join me or even you would do.”
‘That would break the rules for even me to join you without challenge not that I would let anyone do so. I have the perfect Pokemon for a child such as yourself.’ Mew smirked as if it were hearing the best joke ever.
“Really you have one that will join me.”
‘Yes, although I do have some requirements you must fulfill in time there is no rush to finish my task. All that I ask is that if you ever run into an event that will have dire consequences to the entire world you will take the initiative and try to put a stop to it before the world will see the consequences.’
“That works for me now, where is the starter you promised?”
Mew suddenly disappeared and then reappeared holding an egg.
The egg was pink with gray spots covering it.
Mew handed over the egg.
'This little one is a Tinkatink and it will hatch in the morning and before you ask it's a Pokemon this region has never seen and never will if you don't act to prevent the calamities to come the first one you will find is here in Kanto.'
Out of the grass a tall man approaches wearing a business suit.
I would know who that man was as it was Giovanni.
"Little girl leave this instant I have business with that Pokemon."
Giovanni release a Nidoking the biggest I've ever seen as I was beginning to walk away.
"Use Megahorn."
it dashed its horn glowing green just striking Mew as it disappeared.
