Chapter 11: A Breakthrough

In Yan Sen's courtyard

Yan Sen, Li Wei, and Mei Lin returned to Yan Manor after collecting the herbs and wild weeds needed for the elixir. They were all exhausted from the long journey, but they were also excited to begin their cultivation.

Yan Sen instructed his friends on how to prepare the elixir, following the instructions that the Time Sovereign had given him. They called it the Ruber Jade Elixir. Once the elixir was ready, they gathered in the center of the courtyard and began the cultivation ritual.

The Mortal Level Unified Chrono Heart Cultivation Technique was a unique cultivation technique that three people could use to cultivate together. Yan Sen was the center of the array, and he was responsible for circulating the Qi within the array. Li Wei was responsible for guiding the Qi back to the skin of the three cultivators, and Mei Lin was responsible for stimulating and strengthening the skin cells of each one of them. The Mortal Level Unified Chrono Heart Technique gave them the ability to sense each other's bodies that were being used in cultivation like their own bodies.

However, the Time Sovereign had instructed Yan Sen that the elixir needed to be placed inside the Chrono Orb, not applied to the skin. So, Yan Sen poured the elixir into the Chrono Orb, and then they began the cultivation ritual.

The Qi that was processed by the formation was of much higher quality than the Qi that the cultivators could release on their own. This allowed them to breakthrough to a higher level of cultivation much faster than they would have been able to on their own.

After fifteen hours of cultivation, the elixir was finished and the three cultivators had all made significant breakthroughs. Yan Sen had moved to 3rd level and was close to breaking through to the fourth level, Li Wei had broken through to the fourth level, and Mei Lin had the most exaggerated breakthrough, she had directly broken through to the second level from not having any cultivation at all. Since their souls and physical bodies did not enter inside the Chrono Orb and only used it as the center of the array, the flow of time while they were cultivating was the same.

They were all overjoyed with their progress, and they were eager to continue their cultivation. However, they knew that they had to get ready for school, so they reluctantly ended their cultivation session.

In Tang Manor

The Tang family was in a state of distress. They had been searching for Sophia for days, but there had been no sign of her. The city's mayor had mobilized his forces, as had the generals of the four directions. Even the neighboring aristocratic families and the eternal cultivators had joined the search, but to no avail.

Some rumors had begun to spread that Sophia was dead. Others said that she had been abducted and taken to a distant land. But there was no solid proof of either of these claims. The Tang family was still in the dark, and their anxiety was growing.

The Mountain Pass of the North

General Yan Zhi sat in his tent, interrogating a prisoner. The prisoner was a high-ranking official from the Valoria Kingdom, a man named General Henry Parker.

"Who is the spy?" General Yan Zhi demanded.

General Henry Parker was a broken man. He had been tortured for days, and he was in a great deal of pain. His face was bruised and swollen, and he was missing several teeth.

"I already told you," he said in a weak voice. "I don't know who the spy is."

General Yan Zhi did not believe him. He knew that General Parker was lying, but he did not know how to prove it.

"You are a General at the seventh level of foundation establishment," he said. "You must know something."

"I am only a low-level general," General Parker said. "I do not have access to the same information as the higher-ups. But I know that there is a spy living in Faybrook. He is a high-level official of Serenvale Kingdom."

General Yan Zhi's eyes narrowed. "How do you know this?" he asked.

"I was told by my superiors," General Parker said. "They said that the spy was working to undermine the relationship between the official of Serenvale and provide information to Valoria."

General Yan Zhi was silent for a moment. He knew that General Parker was telling the truth. He also knew that this was a serious matter.

"Very well," he said. "I will keep you here until I can verify this information."

General Henry Parker nodded. He knew that he would never be able to escape. He could not even go back to Valoria for spilling the beans.
