Year 2018

“Alright, the power cable goes here, then the coupler connects here."

*ZAP* Shit! That hurt, damn power lead,…. done. Whew now, with this my time machine is complete”, said Jacob

“I can’t believe it took me 10 years to build this damn machine. With the researching, experiments and hard work, I’m one step closer to realizing my dream.  Time to prepare.”

‘God I can’t wait to make this trip’, he thought.

Jacob Whedon, a 25 years old white male standing at 5’10. He’s from a town several miles out from Washington D.C.  A man of average looks. Has a faintly prominent chin and cheek bones, a strong angular jawline. Has short wavy brown hair, stubble beard and brown eyes that are set ablaze with determination. He goes to the gym and knows a scant amount of martial arts which gives him a decent physique and body weighing at 223 lbs.

He’s a smart kid, sometimes he’s too smart for his own good. This is a light way of saying he’s a smart ass which has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion. He’s energetic, ambitious, playful, and courteous to those he respects. The only things he takes seriously are those that matter to him. One thing that matters most is his family. For those things that don't interest him he tends to forget and on occasion has to be reminded of them.

Jacob has great interest in science and everything related to the field. He's obsessed with time travel and the supernatural. This is a big part of him and has driven him to create his own time machine. Most scientists say it’s impossible, but with his motivation, determination and intellect, he has now succeeded.

‘Man I’ve finally completed my time machine. It’s been so long I never thought I’d finish it.’ Jacob thought as he was gathering all the items for the trip into his bag.

After getting his belongings set, Jacob makes his way back to the time machine to begin his journey to prove his theory on time travel is correct. Also to prove all those asinine scientists that belittled him wrong.  He makes his way through the makeshift hanger of the time machine, places his bag in the storage compartment and excitedly jumps into the driver seat.

It should be said now that this makeshift hanger he’s in is located in an open field outside his town far from prying eyes.

As of now Jacob is flipping switches, pressing buttons, turning dials. The machine’s power core starts to draw power from the fusion generator while the operating system comes online giving Jacob several screens with readouts for the machine’s operations. Everything is showing all green. He puts the time coordinates into the keyboard; September 1, 2001.

Now people may think seeing this date he’s going back to stop the terrorist attacks on September 11, well you’d be wrong. Even Jacob knows stopping something like that would be catastrophic to the timeline and wouldn’t dare do it. He’s happy, he’s got a great job in the private sector, has his own house and a beautiful wife. She was the girl next door growing up. They fell in love, married a few years after high school and now have a kid on the way.

He was just pressing the button to start the drive cycle which will create a time dilation field and then launch him in a tunnel through time and space.

*Knock* *Knock* His wife at this time decides to show up and see what's been keeping him busy all day yet again. As she enters she sees him on the machine starting to oscillate and phase in and out of sync with time.

As she was about to scream at him, he yells, “I’ll be back before you know it Scarlett, I love you!” And like that he disappears.

Scarlett seeing this says, "Shit, so he finally completed his time machine. When he gets back I am so going to give him a beating."

Just after she says this, she and the makeshift hanger disappear, like they were never there. All that’s seen is just an empty field with trees sparsely scattered around it.
