Preparation (2)

[Days remaining until enrolment in RAVENGARDE ACADEMY: 1]

'This is the last day I have to get some answers.'

Greyphis is pondering about just who this body belonged to before he took it over. Was this guy a good person, a douche, just who was he? Of course, he felt remorse for the sin he had committed. I'm sure this guy wouldn't have liked his body being stolen. On the other hand, what if this guy never existed and this is a fresh body?

Greyphis's quest for answers was about to reach its climax. He had finally arrived at the church.

The church on this version of Earth is vastly different than the one you know. There is a reason that the continent humans live on is called Ravengarde. The legend is as follows:

1000 years ago, there was a continental shift; the four major continents, Ravengarde (formerly known as Azgarde), Elvengarde, Dwarvegarde, and Noctegarde, collided. For the next 200 years, there was intense conflict between the four races. Ultimately, the humans were close to losing as they were by far the inferior race. Dwarves were known for their incredible strength and defense, Elves for their connection and deep understanding of Ether, and Demons for their cruelty and attachment to the dark arts. Right as the humans were being cornered, a baby was born. His name was Raven. He led the 1:10 human army to victory against the demons using his immense strength and expertise. After his victory, he founded Ravengarde Academy, and after his death, the continent was named Ravengarde.

Yeah, I know. It's a typical academy backstory, right? I really don't get why he was obsessed with this generic academy novel.

"Father, are you here?" Greyphis's voice reverberates through the church.

A voice responds to his call, "Yes, come right in."

Greyphis steps into the church, his heart pounding with uncertainty. Is he truly ready for what lies ahead?

"Father, I have come to confess my sins."

He walks up to the confessional, and a green leather chair is waiting inside the box. He gingerly takes a seat.

He can see the silhouette of the priest behind the curtains.

"Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. This is my first confession."

The priest is silent.

Taking this as a sign to continue speaking, Greyphis lets his feelings flow,

"I believe I might have stolen this body from its original owner. I'm not sure what kind of person he was or if he was a person at all."

The priest is silent. After what feels like an hour passes, he decides to speak.

"Whatever your reason was for inhabiting this person's body, I'm sure it was in good faith. Your penance is to live his life and to not waste it. Make sure his sacrifice wasn't for nothing."

Greyphis didn't know how to feel about this. One more question suddenly leaped into his mind.

"Father, my identity is Greyphis Sparkfury, do you know of me or my family?"

The priest thinks for a moment, and then responds "I'm sorry, I don't think I have any knowledge of the Sparkfury family."

"Thank you, Father, I will serve this penance."

Greyphis stands up, a little more confident than when he had walked in.

With only one day left before the exam, his mind was finally at rest. His body however would be put to the test tomorrow at the Physical Exam.
