Dremal: “This time I plan to be smarter about this. I have to learn my surroundings first. So, sorry in advance Alice. I will be asking a lot of questions.”
Alice: “Its really no problem. Eventually you will learn it only takes time. Just like with our training.”
We make our way outside into the field with Killjoy Herbs used as grass. I am taking a better look around walking around the cabin. Which I noticed at the back does not have a door. The field is a 150 ft. radius from the cabin to the woods. The woods surrounds us as a perfect circle. (Author: again not sure if I said the right words for this. Ahem. To put it simply the woods surrounding the cabin is indeed a perfect circle and to any direct line you take from the cabin to get to the woods is 150 ft.... not sure was that better?)
I ask Alice to follow me. She just shrugs and follows. Walking in a straight line from the front door of the cabin to the woods. I think this is where I came in last time. I look more closely at the tree and the red lines running down the tree looks like blood. Looking at the ground I pick up one of the fallen leaves as well.
Dremal: “What is this blood looking stuff running down the tree? And what are the properties of these leaves?” Holding up the leaf it looks like it gives off an aura of darkness.
Alice: “The “blood looking stuff” is just sap from the tree just having a texture change. The leaf however is a Cursed Hallow Leaf. This if this is eaten or applied to wounds it will give a debuff effect. This effect is a curse which slows the reaction time of something, it also induced paranoia in the subject. Well, for a limited time at least, depending on the amount used. With the amount used as leaves for this forest the canopy made has a light dampening effect. Combined with the fact that animals and monsters can sense the effect of the curse. This not only makes it so Airborne prey does not invade the forest, but also provides good cover for those monsters or creatures that cannot stand the properties of the sun.”
This gives me a brilliant idea then. I pull out my wooden sword and covered it in the blood sap. Then I pick up as many leaves as I could and stick them on my sword. Alice actually giggled a little when I was finished and showed her.
Alice: “In order not to endanger myself I will inform you. Yes, that was a brilliant move; however the fact remains that it must be injected either into the mouth of into a wound you have caused to take effect. I highly doubt the wooden sword is going to hurt your hated enemies. If we were out in the lower level areas. Then I would praise you igneous, but I must remind you not to accidentally touch your wooden sword when you are wounded.”
I suddenly feel less proud. Maybe I can use it as a fear tactic though, since it apparently works as a deterrent towards airborne predators. Wait.. Think about it if the monsters in this forest were going to be scared of it, then why would they live here. They have a better immunity towards it than other predators.
Okay, better plan don't try to use a wooden sword to take on level 80 mobs. Damn, thinking about that sounds like a really stupid plan right off the bat. I am way to slow on the uptake. Least I am not going in as stupid this time. Plus I have the ability to make weapons from magic. Although I can't pull them out till battle since I can't waste mana. I am not entirely sure I have enough mana to pierce a level 80 mob. Well here is the ultimate test then. Do or die!
Dremal: “Do you have an invisibility spell? …. never mind. Do you mind casting that with the condition that I will be able to see you too. While we venture forth? I will hide in the shadows over seeing from the top of the forest. Till we come across one then we can take it out.”
Alice: “Sure I can do that. Let me remind you though not every thing relies on sight. They can sense mana flow or life essence as well.”
Dremal: “I know, I figured you could hide all of those. Like with my stealth training I have learned to do so.”
Alice: “Alright.” As she said that she took on a more transparent look. Guess she is invisible and this is what she allows me to see. The next moment even though I am looking at her. She feels like she is not there.
Dremal: “Great I will take the high ground you take the low?” She just nodded.
I climb up one of the nearest trees. Avoiding touching any leaves and blood sap. I am also applying all my physical and sense wise stealth techniques. Jumping from tree to tree keeping a look out and trying to sense for some creatures. I also keep Alice in view I don't wanna lose her. I scout ahead and find a spider looking downwards from it nest a little bit lower than me. No wonder I couldn't spot it its well hidden and was way up above my head. I hop back to Alice and go up behind her. Trying not to alert any monsters nearby I whisper in her ear the location of the spider.
I am incredibly grateful that I could keep a calm head when I spotted it. Alice when I whispered in her ear jumped a little. Haha! I think I scared her a bit. Then she nodded to me and whispered back asking what the plan was.
Dremal: “We could do one of two things I think. Plan A: both of us use stealth skills to go up to and take it out. The negative I think is that we have to fight in its territory and those webs are really sticky. Plan B: I want to use you deactivating your invisibility and stealth techniques and allow it to notice you. It will first shoot a web at you trying to detain you like it did with me... probably. At this point when going in to attack you. I think its guard will be lowered giving me a chance to end its life. What do you think?”
Alice: “I think plan A is a bust. We can't always do that nor can we fight in its nest. There will be some situations that may require it, but right now no. Plan B is better, but again we can't always do something like that. However you have to learn and grow from experiences let's go with that plan. I don't like putting my life in your hands, but it is inevitable since we are stuck together.”
I nodded then jumped away to start the plan. She deactivated her invisibility. Hmm.. Stuck together... are we? I shake the question from my mind for now. Right now is the time for Vengeance! She walked forward and I was watching the spider. Which had moved from its nest when it had spotted her. I jumped from tree to tree watching her until. It spit out webbing at Alice. Trapping Alice's left foot to the ground. Alice playing her part was looking around like she was panicking.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
The spider moved in closer to her and I moved closer to the spider. When the spider was about to pounce down at Alice's blind spot. I materialized my weapons and tore into the spiders blind spot. Its belly once my blades were inside I felt a major amount of mana drain from me. 2/3's of it in fact. I used the remaining 1/3 except the 10 mana left that makes me into that depressing state. To make my weapons explode into dark shards inside the damn spider.
I killed it. I was not sure if I killed it in first contact, but after the inner explosion in its belly it sure did die. I felt extremely satisfied. Except now that I am out of my slight blood rage. I feel stupid that I used all my mana. What would have happened if there had been another one around. I need to be more efficient. The corpse of the spider hits the ground then it looks like it is decaying in fast forward. Melting into the ground.
It leaves some kind of card. A spike that was probably its stinger and an gold orb of some kind. Alice when she looks at the drop goes wide eyed for a second. Then returns to her normal state.
Dremal: “What is that orb? Will it be harmful if I pick it up?”
Alice: “*sigh * You are really lucky you know that. Well, I think I know the real reason for this amazing loot. Stupid director... *mumbles* (It wasn't bad enough that you had to pity him.) Oh, well better for us. Ahem! That gold orb is the currency of the game it. Is the same regardless of which planet you go to. Hmm.. it goes like this: Planet = Rainbow Energy Core.
Adamantium = Glowing Red Energy Orb.
Platinum = Gold Energy Orb.
Gold = White Energy Orb.
Silver = Grey Energy Orb.
Copper = Black Energy Orb.
1 Rainbow Core = 1,000,000 Glowing Red Energy Orbs.
1 Glowing Red Energy Orb = 1,000 Gold Energy Orbs.
1 Gold Energy Orb = 100 White Energy Orbs.
1 White Energy Orb = 10 Grey Energy Orbs.
1 Grey Energy Orb = 100 Black Energy Orbs.
I said it in terms of normal RPG games first. The card on the ground is lucky drop as well. It is the rare pet card. The last item is the quest stinger for these mobs. Some NPC might want it. We get exp or skill reward if we complete it.”
Dremal: “I get adamantium... but planet ?”
Alice: “Yes, you can get money from either destroying planets if you have the abilities to do so. This is the level of money you get from doing so. Since you effectively destroy any valuables that could have been found on that planet. It is also one of the requirements to make a planet. Since that is the planets core after all.”
I pick up the stinger and put it into my back pack after taking out some herbs. I eat them to restore my mana back. Then I go to pick up the orb and when it touched my hand it was absorbed into me.
Dremal: “What the hell was that?”
Alice: “It has soul resonance so it get absorbed into the body so it has no weight and it can't be stolen. Effective right? If you want to collect your money to use it just imagine it in your hand. If you want to absorb it just let go of the image of it being in your hand. It absorbs naturally on its own.”
I do what she says a few times. Letting myself form it then absorb it. Wonder if I can just create it with mana. I then walk over to the card. She called it a pet card I believe. When I picked it up a image of a cute little baby wolf pup pops into my mind. With a screen asking me to name the cub. I named it ****. After I had named it the pup and I had some sort of link now. I can feel him and we seem to have a telepathic link to one another.
After getting that over with I opened my eyes. There in front of me was a tiny wolf cub wagging its little tail. I forgot to mention this until now since I was distracted by all the new things, but after I killed the spider I felt strangley more powerful.
Dremal: “Alice... I can feel and speak with the little pup in my mind. Also ... I feel different after killing the spider what happened?”
Alice: “Its a soul linking process in order to allow players to direct their pets around precisely. They control them through telepathic communication. There is no limit on how many pets one can have, but most players only want three. Anymore and the amount of noise and stress you get is to overwhelming. Now for feeling different. That was because we leveled up after killing that spider. Each level gives up 10 more stats to everything. The problem is I don't know how much we leveled up since our status is locked. I would say judging from the feeling. That we gained about 7-9 levels. I am not to sure though. It is the fist time I have ever experienced a level up after all.”
(Author: First guess was right 7 levels were gained to the both of them amount of experience will decrease now that it has split between 3 of them. So next time they kill will be a less of a growth.)
Dremal: “Well.. Since it says that this guy is level one I guess we can level him up as well? Or can we stat train him like we did? Also what happens if he dies in battle?”
Alice: “Yes our experience will now be split between the three of us. The pup cannot level up past you though. The pup cannot gain stats like us the only way for him to get stronger is through level ups and evolution. When he dies in battle he will stay dead and not gain any exp until you either pay to have him revived in town. Or when you yourself also dies in battle. If you die then he will revive along with you. YOU BETTER NOT LET HIM DIE THOUGH! He is to damn adorable to die!” She yells at me then cuddles with the pup playing with his ears.
Cuteness its super effective! Girls no matter what they are. They still adore cute things. I shiver a bit I better not let him die. Or else I will experience something worse than death.

Author: So as you all know I once again need another name. I have a small list of your guys names to be used as player encounters later on, but for an active character needs a different name. Hopefully you guys make it a semi short name to spell. Please no basic pet names though this little guy is going to be.... unique to say the least.
Thank you all so much for reading. See you next chapter !
