Chapter 1: Pre Charting the Chorus

Chapter 1: Pre Charting the Chorus

The space of white is what greeted his eyes(?) when he regained his consciousness, well that and the woman in front of him. Her glossy black hair frames her beautiful face that holds the features of a Yamato Nadeshiko, in fact, her entire presence is of one with her body clad in a yukata. The yukata was a navy color with a pattern of suns crossing at the horizon… and were actually shining brightly, as if they were actual suns, making it quite hard to look at directly.

“Good morning.”

He stopped observing her body in its whole and focus on her face… only to see that gleaming smile and shining black eyes. Even her voice is bright, along with her fair skin. She is pleasant to listen to, making him want to offer a contract or compose something.

‘Definitely idol material.’ She giggled slightly… is she reading my thoughts? She just winks in a knowing manner. She then shifts her legs a bit, turns out we are both in a seiza position, though I have no recollection of assuming it.

“I am the goddess Ame no Uzume no Mikoto.”

Her graceful smile was still on her face as she spoke, though that did not distract me from her name being placed in my spotty mind. I opened my mouth to speak… only for there to be no words to be spoken to this strange world. In fact, now that he was able to see his own body… it was only a mass of light, without any resemblance to his real body other than being vaguely human-shaped.

“Sorry, your soul doesn’t remember what your body on Earth originally was like anymore.”

Now that she mentioned it, he has no recollection of his figure or features. He careened what would have been his head to the side a bit. You would think something that you have seen every day for decades would be deeply imprinted into the soul.

Her face shifts into a more serious expression compared to her original laid back aura. Though that ain’t saying much. Her eyes stare from where every my vision is coming from on what would have been my head. I straighten the white blob that is what is most likely my soul. She motions to the table sitting between the two of us. Several documents are what fill the surface, blocking the wood grain underneath.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

“As you could probably guess, that is your entire life on the table, from your infamous misdeeds to the greatest virtues. William Walker has perished in that world called earth.”

He looks at the files on the desk, a black scrawl on the fair toned pages. Neat and orderly, written with a steady hand. There was a little flourish in the lettering, a person with a flair for dramatics most likely. They were written like a list, with point values after each line. Things like “Born In The United States Of America” or “Moved To Japan” were also contained within. On the final page, written within it, “Died at the age of 35 Years 5 Months 3 Days and 13 Hours” though even that was not the last entry. Some parts were embarrassingly explicit and others begged to be explained in detail.

She flicked her hand and the first page flew into her hand, and with another swish, the last page came along with a few others in the pile of documents. The 5 pages flew in front of her, the words all facing her.

“Born in the United States within the state of Nebraska to a poor family with 1 older sister and a younger sister later on. You had a calm even temperament as a child and was wise beyond belief. Parents died when you were at the age of 16 and your older sister at the age of 17. You were the main one to support the family as your older and younger sisters studied. Would later rise out of financial despair with several of your books being huge successes under a pen name.”

She tilted her head a bit away from the first few pages, her dark eyes glancing through the words.

“Would become a company startup with a successful multimedia company that specialized in entertainment at the age of 23. With an eye for talent, you founded an American idol group before moving to Japan 2 years later when they transitioned to the online stage. Once getting into japan became a quick success and recruited another idol group, this time starting from the virtual verity.”

She waves her hand and the pages settle down into their original spots. After she rests her dainty hands upon the table, her glowing eyes look over to him.

“You are probably wondering why you are here, sitting with a literal goddess. Well, your achievements have caught my attention.”

Her joking tone turned serious.

“You have been selected to traverse into another world, though you are probably extremely familiar with that concept. The world itself is what you would call a fantasy setting. The main reason why I’m sending you? Well, you can guess it with your achievements.”

She stopped for a few seconds as if pondering something.

“Well, that enough of an explanation… Not like I have much time left anymore. When you get there… do what you do best.”

It feels as if something weighs heavily on his mind. A certain drowsy spell enveloped his fading consciousness. Though he was able to make out a few words of a lass in the darkness.

“My Lord… save…”

Note: Can you guess how he died? Well anyway, the first chapter and it’s basically a prelude. Along with that, I am trying another style that I am not used to… So maybe I will get better… who knows.
