The blade was roughly 60cm long, blue and curved in a crescent shape, however instead of being on the end of the stick it was attached to the side, and there was a small spike on the top instead. A smaller crescent blade was jutting out opposite the main blade. The weapon was symmetrical with the blades being mirrored on the other end of the stick.
"Alright, I've marked you down as having a weapon. Meet back here at nightfall. And don't even think about trying to leave the city." The announcer said with a stern look on his face.
I nodded in acknowledgement before moving off the stage.
As I stepped off the stage my weapon started glowing again, a much softer light this time. It began to break apart into many small balls of light and after a few seconds it was gone, the balls of light faded away in the air around me.
It was around midday so I still had a lot of time to wait until the meeting. I decided to check out the market place despite not having any human money; I hadn't been intending to hang around long enough to need any.
There were lots of shops lining the streets with many people walking throughout them. I made sure to keep track of where I was so that I wouldn't get lost again.
One shop in particular stood out for some reason. It was a basic looking clothing shop; there were many that looked just like it scattered around the street, but for some reason I felt oddly compelled to enter that one in particular.
Upon entering the shop I took notice of the young girl standing behind the counter. She looked around my age, her bright hair standing out among the dull backdrop of the store.
Before I could take a step further, another girl ran up to me. She looked quite similar to the other girl, and I wondered whether they were siblings.
"Hello there, welcome to our shop. We have many outfits that could help someone of your kind stand out a lot less in the city."
They appear to have good intentions yet their words are quite rude. "I'm just checking out some shops, I don't intend to buy anything."
The girl's face immediately fell and she looked bored. "Well if you really want to go outside looking like that, then go ahead, but please be quick there are other customers waiting."
I looked around and didn't see a single person other than us. Feeling slightly annoyed I thanked the girls then turned around and left.
Continuing down the street, no more shops really caught my eye the same way that clothing store did. As I was looking around at the many shops lining the street I suddenly made contact with another person and fell to the ground.
A girl stood there looking like she had barely budged an inch. She looked down at me, slightly sneered, then trotted around me as I sat dumbfounded on the floor. Just as she was walking around a tail hit me in the face, then she was gone.
How rude.
I noticed people staring and hurried to blend back into the crowd.
I was not having a very good day. First the announcer, then those girls in the shop, and finally being knocked over by that rude lady. The only good thing that had happened all day was meeting Kwon Jieun, and I guess obtaining my weapon, but due to the current circumstances I think I would have preferred going to the demons, or not getting one at all.
I still had around an hour left till nightfall so I decided to begin backtracking in order to return to the stage in time for the meeting. I didn't want to know what would happen if I was late.
As I was walking back I saw quite a few people of different species scattered about. Some could blend into the humans seamlessly with only a few giveaways if you knew where to look, while others were a startling contrast to the dull looking humans around them.
I saw a girl with pure white wings walking around like she owned the place, surprising me. She would angle her wings so that they avoid touching other people, and while it might have seemed like a nice gesture it was ruined when she pulled a face of disgust if her wings even so much as brushed another person.
There was also a boy with hair the colour of the sun, his radiant curls attracting attention as he walked. You could only tell he wasn't human thanks to his ears, which were longer and more pointed than that of a humans.
As I passed by the clothing store again, I saw the two girls exiting and locking up the shop, before walking in the same direction that I was going in.

When I arrived back at the stage the crowd had thinned significantly; there were only around 15 of us standing there with some still coming.
After standing around for a few more minutes I suddenly felt some fingers crawling up my spine. Spinning around I saw Kwon Jieun standing behind, her hand outstretched with a mischievous grin on her face.
"I knew we would meet again, so what kind of weapon did you get?" She asked as her face morphed into her signature smile. As I began to describe my weapon to her a flash of recognition went through her eyes, but it was gone before I could even blink.
"That sounds cool and all but do you even know how to use something like that?" She burst out laughing as I shook my head.
"Well I'm sure the school can teach you but if you want Chaeyeon-ya and I can help teach you, our weapons are of similar length so we know a bit about how to handle them."
"That would be very much appreciated, thank you." I gave a small bow as I thanked her.
"There's no need to be so formal, we're friends aren't we?"
I stood stunned at that. Were we friends? We had only met that day. Though I suppose I didn't know anyone else there, and she seemed quite nice. I gave a small smile and nodded, her face lighting up as she started jumping around.
Before we could say anything else the crowd went silent and the announcer from before stepped out onto stage once more. "It's good to see that no one tried to leave, and that no force was required to bring everyone here."
As he said that his gaze travelled to those that were obviously not human. "You will be staying at this school for the next 3 years. If you happen to be revealed as the reincarnation of one of the warriors of old you will be placed in a special class which will last an extra 6 years or until the upcoming war is finished."
The cries of outrage were even louder than earlier today despite there being a lot less people. "As for your uniform, we will first assess whether you can world elemental magic, you will then be given a uniform that has a colour that matches said element, also the humans will be given gold highlights on their outfits in order to differentiate the humans from those in disguise."
"Alongside this you will all be placed in dorms, the dorms will consist of 4 people. And of course most humans will have their own personal dorms in order to mitigate the risk of any violence occurring, however unfortunately we do not have enough dorms so some humans will have to dorm with those of 'other' species." The faces in the crowd were growing more and more displeased, however a few looked like they were expecting this to happen, one such person being Kwon Jieun.
"The course will consist of 8 subjects, must pass every subject in order to pass the year level, fail to do so and you will be held back a year." Kwon Jieun's face paled a bit but she quickly looked away before I could double check.
"Once you are deemed skilled enough you will be given missions outside of the city, you must complete all missions to an acceptable standard in order to pass the year. Of course in order to ensure no funny business occurs, a highly trained human knight will accompany each group."
Kwon Jieun whispered in my ear. "Let me guess, any group with a human student in it will be exempt from that rule."
"Hey, you there, no talking." The announcer was looking directly at us yet Kwon Jieun didn't look the slightest bit ashamed.
"As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted." He continued to glare at us and Kwon Jieun continued to not care. "Now then, when your name is called please come up to the stage to answer a few questions, then you will be escorted to your dorm. Please keep in mind that all questions must be answered, and if you refuse to co-operate then we will have to use other methods."
The first person to be called up was human, and the second... and the third.
Finally after six presumably human students there was a person wearing seemingly foreign clothing. However I had already long zoned out.
"Zeyu Long."
I was snapped out of my thoughts at the sound of my name and stepped up to the stage.
"Gender?"
"Male."
"Date of birth?"
"The twenty-eighth day of the second month."
"Family members?"
This was getting uncomfortably personal.
"I'm an only child and my father died seven years ago."
That was a lie.
"Species?"
"Cat."
Another lie.
The announcer's face visibly grimaced at my answer. "Magical Attributes?"
"Mental, Elemental and Magical."
"That will be all you may leave now."
I left without saying another word, following the man standing behind me. As we walked towards the dorm I tried to memorise the way, yet the knight was walking too fast for me to pay attention.
It was well past nightfall by the time we arrived and most people were already going to sleep. The room was modestly sized with four beds and four wardrobes. 2 on each side. Once I fully entered I heard the door shut and lock behind me.
As it was already night time I decided to prepare for bed as I waited for my roommates. Once I was just down to my underrobes I heard the door open. Before I could even fully turn around I found myself lying on my back on the floor as a strange weight laid atop me.
"Zeyu-ssi! I knew we would see each other again." A familiar voice called out from on top of me.
"Jieun-nim please get off of him, your going to strangle him."
Once the weight had removed itself from my chest and I could breathe again I sat up and opened my eyes. As I had thought, Kwon Jieun was sitting in front of me with Jung Chaeyeon standing behind her.
Wait... why did they come together, I thought we went one at a time? Before I could voice my question Kwon Jieun spoke up again.
"I knew we would meet again, I just didn't expect it to be this soon." She finally bounced off my chest and I stood up again. "Now we just need to wait for our final roommate."
She looked around the room for a short moment before looking back at me. "Is this your bed?" I gave a small nod.
"I want the bed next to Zeyu-ssi!" Her sudden outburst left my head ringing as she ran towards the bed. Jung Chaeyeon merely nodded and moved for the bed across from me.
As we all began getting into bed the door burst open once more and our final roommate entered. He had a strange piece of paper attached to his chest, a picture drawn on it.
Some kind of blob, maybe a bird? He continued into the room and sat down on his bed before immediately collapsing.
He was asleep within seconds.
If I was looking at Kwon Jieun I would have seen the way her face suddenly turned pale at the sight.
