My name is Zeyu Long.
And I was just signed up for the most prestigious knight school in the country.
The problem.
The school is in the Human country, and they don't really like my species.
__
It was just after my 17th Birthday.
I had been sheltered most of my life so I had never been to other countries, and as I had finally turned 17, I was now eligible to obtain my Spiritual Weapon.
Which means I had to go to either the Humans or the Demons.
Demons are noticeably stronger than Humans, so my parents opted to send me here first.
The location of your weapon depends on which side of the war your country was in 5,000 years ago.
Unfortunately my country was created after the war, so the location of my weapon could be at either.
Hence why I'm currently at the Human kingdom despite them hating our very existence.
For all I know I may not even have one.
A Spiritual Weapon is a magical weapon that is attached to your soul, you can only have a Spiritual Weapon if your magic is strong enough for your soul to reach out and bond with a weapon.
Your can either be born with strong enough magic or you can train to strengthen your magic, the downside is that you'll never know until your 17 and you go searching.
For most people its a fruitless search and they may have wasted years of their life attempting to train their magic.
So here I am standing in the middle of the street, in a country I have never been in before, trying to find something I don't even know if I have.
My family has a pretty strong lineage in terms of magic yet they still had me start studying as soon as I could read, so coming home without a weapon would be dishonorable.
As I was moving through the street I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder.
Turning around I stood face to face with 2 young girls, they looked human yet their outfits stood out among the crowd.
"Hey there, you look pretty lost, where are you going?" The one standing directly in front of me said.
"You look about 17 are you going to the weapon ceremony?" She continued to speak despite me not saying a word.
"Oh, where are my manners, I'm sorry, my name is Kwon Jieun, the girl behind me is Jung Chaeyeon, she's not very social so you'll have to forgive her for not speaking."
"No its fine, my name is Long Zeyu." My voice came out quite monotone as I responded to the energetic girl.
"Anyway if your going to the Weapons Ceremony then you should follow us, we're going there too." Kwon Jieun said cheerfully as she started walking away.
Kwon Jieun continued to ramble on as I trailed after her, Jung Chaeyeon was clearly used to this as she didn't seem even the slightest bit annoyed.
"Roughly how far away is your hometown?" Kwon Jieun asked turning her head slightly to look at me.
"Why do you wish to know?" I was understandably hesitant to tell her this, I had only just met her.
"You clearly looked lost, and the further away from the capital you are the more different the architecture looks, so I just assumed you lived quite far away."
After around 10 minutes of walking the crowd around us was getting noticeably larger and most of the people appeared to be around my age.
Finally after another 5 minutes we arrived at the city centre where the majority of the crowd was.
There was a stage assembled at the very back with wooden sticks of varying sizes displayed upon it.
As I looked around I noticed that a lot of the people here weren't human, and even some that looked human where wearing foreign outfits.
I wonder if these girls are actually human, they seemed to know the layout of the city pretty well, but who knows.
All the talking slowly started to die out as a figure stepped out onto the stage. The way he carried himself demanded attention.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Attention fellow humans and others of the allied countries."
As he began to speak the last of the chatter quieted down and all eyes turned to him.
"As you all know today is the annual weapon ceremony, meaning all 17 year old's are now eligible to obtain a spiritual weapon." Stepping back he moved over to the weapon racks and grabbed one of the smaller sticks.
As he grabbed a hold of it, it let off a soft glow before it began to change shape.
The stick smoothed out and marking etched themselves into it.
Finally he swung the stick and a sharp blade shot out of the end of it, forming a complete sword.
"As you should know by now this is a Spiritual Weapon, and today all of you will be tested to see if you have the skill to claim one." He gestured behind him as he continued his speech.
"These sticks represent how many of you will be getting a weapon." There were around 20 or so sticks on stage, yet there were more than 1,000 people here.
"However as you should already know we are doing something different this generation. Due to the prophecy that was foretold 5,000 years ago, all people who obtain a spiritual weapon today will be enrolled in the knights academy Anima Telum and attendance is mandatory."
About half the people in the audience cried out, clearly displeased. However they were mainly those of different species or those wearing foreign outfits.
Kwon Jieun and Jung Chaeyeon didn't seem very surprised.
"If you are indeed lucky enough to obtain a weapon, you will be required to attend an orientation meeting later today to enroll you into school."
"As soon as your weapon is revealed the guards at the city gates will be informed of your appearance and you will not be alowed to leave. Also if you attempt to skip out on the meeting, the guards will hunt you down and escort you to the meeting site."
The uproar got even louder and many people were visibly upset.
"Worry not a letter will be sent to your parents 'kindly' informing them of your required attendance at school."
That did not help, however the guards that drew their weapons by the exits did.
"Now then if your are all ready to begin please line up by the edge of the stage." With those words the entire crowd started rushing for the stairs.
As I was getting pushed around I felt a hand grab my wrist and pull me away.
After a few minutes of being pulled along we finally stopped.
When I looked around I realised that we were standing in line near the front.
Kwon Jieun was standing Infront of me holding my wrist while Jung Chaeyeon was behind me.
"There we go, crowds like that can get dangerous quickly, its best to get out of that as soon as possible." Kwon Jieun turned to me with a soft smile on her face.
"So what species are you?" She asked as her smile turned into a small grin.
"How could you tell I wasn't human."
"Alongside the fact that you didn't know your way around, your clothes are a dead giveaway." She said her face morphing into a smug grin.
"I'm kidding you don't need to tell me, besides I'm not exactly human myself." She turned to the side and gestured out to the sea of people, still fighting to get a place in line.
"Besides most people here aren't human either. You probably already know but you're advised to hide your non-human features if possible." Her face soured as she started talking about the rule.
"Supposedly it makes the humans uncomfortable, its stupid if you ask me, humans are too proud to do anything except look down on people of other species."
Her face brightened again as she continued talking. "That doesn't matter though, you don't need to tell me your species if you don't want to, of course I won't be telling you mine though."
Suddenly her expression morphed into something slightly annoyed.
But before I could ask what was bothering her she interrupted me.
"Ah would you look at that its my turn, Chaeyeon-ya I'll meet you in the alleyway on the other side of the stage, may we meet again Zeyu-ssi" After saying that Kwon Jieun walked up the stairs and approached the announcer.
I tried looking behind me to see what had set her off, yet all I could see was a sea of people.
Maybe I was imagining things.
After a few seconds of talking to the clearly uninterested announcer, Kwon Jieun walked over to the stand of sticks.
She reached out and grabbed a hold of one of the longer sticks, around 195 cm.
It started to glow and change shape, like the announcers it began to smooth out, however instead of markings Kwon Jieuns weapon had cracks in it.
Finally the blade started to form out of one end, as the blade formed it split in 2 looking like a chunk had been taken out of the end, the blade was roughly 85 cm.
A few of the adults standing in the now much smaller crowd clapped as she walked off stage.
As soon as Kwon Jieun stepped off the stage Jung Chaeyeon was called up.
Jung Chaeyeon didn't even wait to talk to the announcer, she just walked straight to sticks and grabbed one of a similar length to Kwon Jieuns.
Immediately the the transformation started.
As the blade begun to appear it split off, ending in 5 ends of differing lengths.
The transformation was so quick I almost missed it.
She didn't even bother looking at the announcer as she walked off the stage in the same direction as Kwon Jieun.
The announcer looked visibly annoyed at the blatant disrespect.
There were a lot less claps then before, looking out at the crowd I saw that quite a few had annoyed expressions on their faces.
I walked up to the stage after Jung Chaeyeon left and made my way towards to the announcer.
"Alright the process is pretty straightforward, I'm sure even someone like you should be able to figure it out, but don't be too disheartened if you don't get one, its only natural after all." The announcer had an aggravating look on his face as he talked down to me.
"All you need is to take ahold of the stick length that feels the most right. Those 2 girls managed to do it so surely you should be able to do it."
The urge to punch him grew the more I listened to him.
Its a good thing I have my magic, otherwise I probably would have punched him.
I ignored the man and moved towards the sticks.
As if on instinct my body started to move towards the longer end.
I reached out and grabbed a stick that was roughly 213 cm, it was one of the longer ones.
Once I had properly grasped the stick in both hands it too began to glow.
The difference was that it glowed much brighter than the previous ones, I shut my eyes on instinct to escape the blinding light, but even that didn't do much.
I felt a few small bumps form under my fingers, as the shaft materialised. Feeling them I noticed that they were finely cut gems embedded into the main hilt.
I continued to feel my way up following the gems. The shaft ended in a sharp spike, feeling that I quickly moved my hand back down as to avoid potentially getting my hand cut off.
The light had dimmed a small amount so I reopened my eyes, the light was still quite bright so I leaned back a bit.
SCHWING!!
My eyes widened as a very sharp blade was suddenly right where my head just was.
