Prologue

13th May 2500, or at least I think so...

Day 1 of the year 2500? Porto?

If you asked me yesterday what my day would be like today, the last thing I'd say would be ‘oh, I'm going to be teleported to a psychedelic Porto, where the sky is purple and there are strange animals walking around in Jardim do Morro’. But here we are.

It all started with a simple decision: to get off the metro a few stations before, in Jardim do Morro, just to relax a bit. I don't usually do this, but today I thought, ‘why not?’ I wanted to sit in the garden and enjoy the view of the city, but as soon as I stepped out of the metro, I realised that something was... different.

The first thing that caught my eye was the sky. It wasn't a beautiful sunset, but a bright purple, as if someone had mixed too much colouring into Gaia's skies. And where were the people? The Jardim do Morro, normally full of tourists and locals enjoying the view, was empty. Not a soul. Just... animals. But what animals were they?

Can you imagine a dog with dragon wings flying around? Or a cat with a peacock's tail posing in a tree? It was impossible not to let out a laugh, but at the same time, panic began to rise. Nothing made sense.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Let me introduce myself, I'm Theo, a normal 20-year-old, about one metre sixty, with light brown hair and brown eyes. Nothing special, just an ordinary bloke.

But what's wrong with me? What the hell am I writing? Worse, will anyone actually read this? Shame on me...

I looked around, trying to find something familiar. The Clerics' Tower should be visible from here, a vertical speck breaking the skyline. It was. But... without colour. Everything around had taken on a surreal intensity of colour, as if the world had been touched up with fluorescent markers, except the tower, which seemed to have been drained of life. A great colourless monument, standing out against a purple sky. Who would have thought that a city icon could look so... depressing?

Fuck, I'm really talking to the wall, aren't I?

Even my mobile phone, the only familiar thing in this chaos, is behaving strangely. The icons have disappeared, leaving just one with a book and a pencil. Who knows, maybe it's a sign for me to document this madness. Maybe one day someone will find this and understand what happened.

My story began like this...

It was supposed to be a normal day, a simple metro ride, until I decided to do something different. Now I'm in a Porto I no longer recognise, surrounded by strange animals and discoloured monuments. And the worst thing is that I don't even know how to get out of this situation. But one thing's for sure: I need to find out what's going on before this city drives me crazy. Or before the peacock cats follow me home.
