When Blood Stains the Grass

Chapter 2 - When Blood Stains the Grass

The next day, Noah was still reminiscing about the events of the previous night. The novel lingered in his mind, but life went on. He had responsibilities to attend to and deadlines to meet, so he resolved to complete his tasks for the day and return home to start a new novel.

He was not concerned about the piece he was currently writing, a habit that his fans often criticize him for. All he wanted at that moment was to create something new, something that could transmit the same feelings he experienced when he read that book.

He got into his car and drove to a library located in the city center. The ride didn’t take long, but for Noah, every second without writing felt excruciating at that moment.

His mind was full of ideas, and he had the drive to write and prove to that rookie not to challenge him, and show that he had a name in the industry for a reason.

After driving for 30 minutes, he arrived at the library. The place was beautiful, it was the main library of his city, the place was gigantic and probably a building that had been built a long time ago. He went to the third floor, where there would be a book signing event with the new show inspired by one of his books.

“It seems I arrived early.” After speaking with the event manager, he realized that he had arrived early; of the 300 books he was going to sign, only 200 people had shown up.

“Sir, would you like to start the signing now? By the end of the 200, the rest should already be here.” After seeing the annoyed expression on his boss's face, the manager proposed to Escritor.

Noah took a second look at the manager to remember his name, and after a few awkward seconds the name came to his mind “Good idea, Fale.”

So they decided to start the event early, the preparations were already ready for it, so it wouldn't be a problem. The music theme of the show started playing in the background at a good volume, even with a few of the kids present at the signing, their parents kept them quiet so the ambiance wasn't disturbed.

The event was going smoothly. Escritor would engage with a guest, ask what they would like signed, sign it, and then move on to the next guest. The manager, Fale, was proving to be a better manager than Noah had given him credit for, and as a result, no problems were arising.

But the real reason no problems had occurred until now was that he was avoiding the kids. They typically enjoyed talking to him, so he tried to keep his distance, hoping they would be tired by the time he finally engaged with them.

That was when it happened. A green holographic screen appeared in front of everyone, and in it, there was what seemed to be a live stream of a cute little fairy. She appeared to be flying in the middle of a crowded park. Noah vaguely remembered seeing this view before, but he couldn't pinpoint where it was. The fairy opened her mouth.

The language was unlike anything I had ever heard, its strange sounds that felt entirely foreign. The little fairy, visibly flustered, cleared her throat several times, her cheeks flushing as she prepared to speak again. Her delicate wings shimmered, adding to the enchanting yet disconcerting atmosphere.

[Greetings, Earthlings!

I want to start by extending my sincerest apologies for the earlier confusion, it was truly unintentional. I understand that many of you might feel bewildered about the current situation, but fear not! I'm here to shed light on everything that’s unfolding.

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Ana, and I have some fantastic news to share with you all. The planet you call Earth is on the brink of a profound transformation. Very soon, Earth will forge a connection with the Alliance and embark on the incredible journey of upgrading to a Stage 1 World!

Are...]

The fairy was abruptly cut off by a woman who started yelling at her. The argument was broadcast loudly for everyone to hear through the strange screen in front of their faces.

[What do you think you are doing? You are scaring my children. Can't you see that? Is this some kind of prank? I am going to call the police.]

The fairy looked truly out of place as she gazed at the woman. For a moment, the onlookers felt a wave of pity for her. The adorable fairy was there to help, yet this woman was causing her distress.

[I’m already dialing, I don’t know what weirdo is behind all of this, but do you even know who my father is?] And when the fairy was about to reply, she continued.

[A lawyer and you are really about to have problems because of this. Remember my name, I am Karen Scotfield.]

And then it happened. The cute fairy extended her delicate finger toward the woman, and in an instant, the unthinkable occurred, the child’s head burst apart with a weird pop sound. Blood splattered everywhere, drenching the air in horror.

Karen froze, her gaze locked on the lifeless body of her child falling to the ground. Trembling, she turned to face the fairy, her mouth opening to scream. But before a sound could escape, her head exploded with the same weird sound.

Mother and child were no more. In mere seconds, the park’s once-green grass was painted a deep, chilling red, their blood pooling beneath the stunned silence of those who witnessed the nightmare.
