Lara was sitting in a sales office chair waiting for her job interview. Swiping through her phone's apps looking through posts. She was stressed about the recent shut down of the department store she worked for. Lara heard her name called by the front desk worker.
"Lara, James is ready to see you."
Lara put her phone back into her small black purse and walked into James' office for the interview.
"Welcome lara, please have a seat any chair will do."
James stood up and shook her hand and sat down in his desk chair. Lara noticed his brown tan and formal shirt and bright red tie.
"So Lara, I have been giving you a look over and it seems you're more than qualified to work here."
"Oh that's a relief, I wasn't sure what you were looking for."
James smiled and said. "Your past employer gave you a good reference, said you were a manager of the department for 9 years, I'm sure you're going to do fine here."
"This is great news."
"When would you be willing to start?"
"Anytime you want me to come in."
"Great, we shall start your first shift Wednesday next week."
Lara smiled and stood up to shake james hand.
"Thankyou for the job, I'm excited to begin."
"Great, see you wednesday."
James shook Lara's right hand. Lara then left his office.
Lara felt relief. Now that she had a job it wasn't much. But losing her main sense of income had her in survival mode.
The rent is overdue, credit cards overdue, her whole life is overdue.
Lara walked out of the old large white office building onto the sidewalk. There was a bus stop at the end of the street. It was a windy cloudy day in the city. The streets were loud with traffic. Lara walked along the sidewalk and kept her hands in her pockets to stay warm. Sitting down on the cold bus stop bench. Lara pulled out her phone and began to text her friend sasha.
[Hey I got the job.]
Lara sat there and thought about what else she could do for the cash she needed. "I already sold the car, I guess I got the couches and tv to sell."
Lara felt the phone vibrate and she looked down and saw the message reply from Sasha.
[No way that's awesome! Let's celebrate.]
[I would like to but I'm broke and have to sell the couches and tv.]
[ :(....]
[Dont cry face emoji me lol.] Lara sent back to Sasha.
[Lol How about I take you out to a show tonight, my treat.]
[Alright where are you taking us?]

Lara put her cell in her pocket and wrapped herself with her coat to shield herself from the cold wind. She spotted the bus down the street. Standing up from the bench she waited for her ride.
The large silver bus stopped in front of the bus stop. Lara got on and showed her bus pass. Then she walked down the bus aisle and took a seat next to a stranger who happened to be reading the city newspaper. Lara could care less who she sat beside. The bus was packed with all sorts of people. The bus began to ride down the city streets. Lara sat ignoring the situation, she missed her old car. The bus stopped at a local mall and one of the homeless guys started to argue with another one who seemed to be tweaking off heavy drugs. Lara was caught in the middle and on the bus there was nowhere to go. The two men were a few inches smaller than Lara's tall 6.0 structure.
The two men began to raise their voices and started to get closer to begin a fight.
Lara remained calm and sat in her seat. The big man next to her just kept reading.
If he wasn't going to say anything she was.
"Hey fuck head sit down."
The drugged man looked at her and gave her the finger.
"Shut the fuck up slut!"
"Make me you weak bitch!"
The drugged up homeless man looked at Lara with a crooked eyed stare.
The homeless man then said.
"I don't care if you're a woman, I will hit you."
Then Lara said.
"I will hit back."
The homeless man then lunged at her and from a sitting position she kicked at his dick and balls. Shoving his tiny skinny frame into the bus aisle. The driver started to stop making it harder for the homeless man to stand backup. Lara stood up and waited for the drugged up man to start to stand up when she was grappled from behind by the other homeless man. The big man with the papers stood up and headlocked the attacking homeless man. The homeless man let go of Lara and she went back to kick the downed homeless man in the face as he was getting up. Knocking out his teeth and leaving him unconscious on the bus floor. The people were scared and the bus stopped. The big man muscled around the homeless man and grabbed him by his hair and slammed his head face first into the yellow bus handle poles in the aisle.
The homeless men laid on the ground of the bus in pain. Lara looked back at the huge built man.
"Thanks for saving me."
"Fuck those bags of shit."
"Names Lara."
"Names Mike, you handle yourself well."
"Thanks, my dad taught me how to fight."
"Good on him but I think we should get off this bus."
Lara nodded looking around at the people on the bus who were genuinely scared of Lara and Mike who looked like two massive monsters on the bus.
Lara followed Mike off the bus and onto the street area. They were in front of a shopping mall center. Lara saw the bus driver shut the doors after the homeless guys got off the bus together. Mike gave them a mean look and they both walked away scared of them. Lara looked at Mike who then asked her.
"Are you going to wait for another bus?"
"Yea I have no other choice."
"Oh that sucks, walk with me to the main entrance of the mall there probably will be a cab waiting around."
"Oh sorry I dont have money for that."
"No need to worry ma'am, I got you covered, it's the least I can do, you helped me deal with those bums on the bus." Mike pulled some cash from his wallet and held it out for Lara.
"Meths hell of a drug, and thanks." Lara said jokingly and took the cash Mike handed her.
"haha… yeah it's turning these people into crazies." Mike started to walk with Lara down the bus stop sidewalk. Lara looked at Mike's arms. He was a very muscular built man.
"You must train alot."
"Yup it's my everyday, I have a membership at most gyms across the city."
"Oh wow."
"That's actually where I was going, now that I'm here at the mall I guess I will just go to the gym inside."
"They have one here at the mall?"
"Yeah across from the old hobby shop."
"Ohhh that's right, I totally forgot."
"Really I figured you would know you're quite fit. Where do you train?"
"I train at my apartment's gym."
"Nice, that's dedication."
"Well take that 50 cash as a generous gift from me and get yourself wherever safely Lara. "
The strong man mike gave her a quick wave and walked into the mall. And like he said there were cabs lined up to the mall.
Lara walked to the first cab and asked for a ride to her apartment. The cab driver nodded and unlocked the doors.
Lara got in the cab and she gave her address. The cab started to drive out of the mall parking lot. Lara pulled out her cell phone and started to text her friend Sasha.
[ had a shitty experience on the bus, I'm getting a cab home.]
Within a few minutes Sasha texted back.
[Alright, I'm on my way!!!!]
Lara looked up and the cab driver stopped on her street.
"Alright, that will be 15.00."
"Here's 20."
"Have a good day."
The cab driver took the cash and drove back into the main traffic.
Lara saw her friend Sasha pull up in her vehicle. She waved for Lara to come to the vehicle.
Lara walked up to her friend's van and got in the passenger seat.
"That was quick."
“Yeah when you told me, you had a bad experience and were getting a cab, was perfect timing for me. I was on my way to the area.”
“I see that.”
“Let's go eat somewhere.”
“Sure.”
“Where do you wanna go lara?”
“I’m good for whatever.”
“Let's go somewhere nice then.”
“Some chicken?”
“Oh yes bbq chicken and rice.”
Lara smiled at her friend as they drove off.
