The Worst Was Approved!? Book Two!?
Chapter 41: I’ve returned!?
“Welcome back, Logan.”
“Ah, hello again old man. It really has been a while since we last talked. What are you doing here?”
“Did we not talk on the phone only yesterday? Oh well, we have some business to take care of. Please follow me, without Claire.”
“Um… sure.” I quickly find Claire and start talking to her, “Claire, your old man has some business for me to take care of, I’ll see you back at the school dorms later.”
“He’s here!? Well, good luck Logan.” Claire smiles after giving me a quick kiss, “Have fun Logan, I’ll see ya later!”
I sigh as I see Claire wander off in to the crowd of students within the airport terminal. I walk towards the front of the building where the old man was waiting for me.
“Logan, let’s go.” The old man opens the door to a large limo in front of the doors.
“Okay.” I nod to the old man as I slid in to the farthest seat in the limo.
The limo starts to move as soon as the old man closes the door behind him and sits down facing me on the other side of the limo.
I take a deep breath and let out a long sigh, “It really has been a weird amount of time for me.”
“Yeah,” the old man chuckles, “Ever since you met Claire, everything has kind of gone out of control, but I’m sure someone like you can cope. Am I right?”
“Of course, this is nothing compared to what my life was like traveling with my parents. Well, adoptive. None the less, they raised me.”
“On that note, several smaller nations have contacted me and have offered a bounty for you and your parents. Several million dollars each.” I freeze on the spot. Not even daring to breathe, “And as you know, a couple million dollars is not a small amount of money.” The old man stares at me with a slight smile.
The atmosphere inside the limo grew more and more unstable as each second slowly ticked by. The old man stared at me with a look so calm, it even calmed the soul.
“So, I got to thinking. Logan. Do you want to even run the Northson Company?”
“No.” I answered without hesitation and shocked the old man.
“Wait… really?” The old man asks me with a shocked expression.
“I don’t want to. Not a single part of me is looking forward to running the company you have set up. I’ve not really experienced enough in life to be able to confidently take over the Northson Company. My life will depend on it, Claire’s life will depend on it, not to mention the impact on the world if I fail to keep the company afloat.”
“Bu-”
“But nothing.” I cut the old man off as he starts to talk. “I have fallen in love with Claire. My life has been so relaxed I’m worried that sometimes I will slip right in to a coma. The Northson Company is the world’s largest company. Why give it someone with a criminal record so long they have to print a book every time it is brought up! Why me!? Why not some other guy that is smarter than I am!? Anyone else in the damn school I’m in would have been a better choice! I’m wanted by several different areas of the world for crimes I’ve been dragged into! I’m worth more in bounties to your company than I am alive!”
“Logan, you nee-”
“I’m not done!” I slam my good hand down on the door of the car, “I’m a useless nobody that has fallen in love with a smart rich girl! She was forcibly married to me and was almost forced to fall in love with me! Why!? For the GOOD of your fucking company! I don’t want to take over a company that has forced their owner’s daughter in to marrying a man to become the head of the company! I don’t want to run a company that does not hesitate to ruin lives! My life was changed for the better, but at the cost of how many! How many lives did you have to ruin!? I can answer!”
“Logan… this…” The old man frowns as he looks at me.
“Don’t fucking look at me like that! You spent so much time trying to make the company so that someone else could take over that you ignored your daughter! The only daughter you had! The child of the woman you once loved! Then you gave your daughter away to some random man! Her feelings are no different than fucking Stockholm Syndrome!”
“Logan, you’ve gone too far.” The old man looks at me with anger.
“Really? My point hasn’t been made then if you think so. I don’t want to touch your company… for now. When I’m ready for it, I will take the company from you and run it better than you ever wish you could! I’ll expand the company and still make time for those that are important to me! I will not sacrifice anyone in order to gain a few extra dollars!”
The Old man’s jaw hangs open slightly, the words not coming from his mouth.
“I refuse to be held to the rules that you have established in your mind! I will take over the company if it is only to prove that I can do it better than you!” I point at the old man with a slight hint of anger on my face.
The old man closes his mouth and takes a deep breath. He silently stares out the window by his side. The limo we are in slowly comes to a stop, “Sir, we have arrived.” The driver of the car leans back and lets the old man know.
“One more thing old man,” I smile at him, “I will continue to love Claire with every fiber of my being until the day I no longer exist in this world. I will prove to not only myself, but you, that I am capable of doing anything I set my mind to.”
The old man starts to laugh crazily. He continues to laugh even as he falls over in his seat clutching his sides.
“Logan, ah, this is perfect! Not even what I wanted to discuss today, but perfect nonetheless! You really were the worst type of person I’ve ever known! A criminal that followed everything he was told! Now however! If only Claire was here to hear all of this! She would beat you for calling her love something so fragile, and then hug you for the last statement! Another thing, if Claire’s love can be likened to Stockholm Syndrome, then your love for Claire is nothing more than pure idiocy!”
“Wait… That wasn’t really what I had in mind.”
“It matters not! You said it! Your mentality now is completely changed from what it was. You now look up to everyone, not out of respect, but the desire to be better than them! You have the desire to be the best! I can do nothing but approve of you yet again!”
“Ha… Thanks… I guess?”
“No Logan, Thank you. You always manage to impress me during these silly talks.” The old man straightens himself up and smiles. “Now then what I actually wanted to talk about today. Claire’s nineteenth birthday is coming up soon.”
“Yeah. That’s coming up soon, but we have tests to worry about before that, do we not?”
“You do, but a little bit of studying should fix that right up for you.”
“Yeah… Claire should do just fine…” I look off into space with an empty expression.
“So, I wanted to ask you what you were going to do for Claire’s birthday. Just so my plans didn’t interfere with yours, I decided to ask you in advance.”
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Plans. I don’t really have anything planned. All I was thinking of doing was really just spend the day with her and find some sort of present.”
“Hm. Simple really is the best after all isn’t it. Anyways, we are at some place I want to show you.” The old man moves towards the side of the limo and opens the door. I follow him out.
Outside of the limo is a large building. The outside is made mostly of hardened glass that will almost never shatter. The windows tinted black, so it is impossible to see in to the building.
“Why bring me here old man?”
“I brought you here, as this is one of the main buildings for the Northson Company. It is left unmarked on the outside so the general public will be less likely to crowd the people going in and out of the building.”
“Well, I can easily guess why the Northson Company would need a building this large with all the administrative work. However, why did you bring me here for the topic of Claire’s birthday?”
“You see, on the top floor is one of the fanciest restaurants in the world. However, only employees of level four access and above can dine there. You have level nine access, which is higher than Claire’s level eight access.”
“Hold on, just go back a second, level nine access? What are you talking about?”
“Oh, the Northson Company has many, and I mean many intricacies that the general public could never even hope to learn. Once you officially take over the Northson Company you will be given level twelve access. These levels are so that we can keep a tight hold on the people that know certain pieces of information.”
“This suddenly feels like it is going to be ridiculous when we get in to me actually taking over the company.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’m currently working on a document that will have most of what you need to know when you take over the Northson Company. Anyhow, let’s go check out this restaurant.”
The old man leads me through the front door of the building and he nods at the receptionist who immediately hops on her phone, most likely to tell everyone that the old man has arrived.
We walk in to an elevator that was already on the ground floor. The old man presses the button for the top floor and the elevator starts to ascend quickly.
“Elevators have actually gotten much faster in recent years. It’s amazing to think of the random technological advancements.” I sigh in slight amazement as I think about the past a little bit.
“Oh, you have seen nothing yet. Logan. I would like you to think of something.”
“Okay?”
“Some people are aware of this, but most aren’t. The technology that isn’t shown to the public is trillions times better than anything shown to the general public.”
I shrug my shoulders. “Well yeah. Of course it is. I would be slightly disappointed if it wasn’t more miraculous than anything I’ve seen before.”
“Ha! I’d like you to remember those words when you actually get access to everything. Okay, now let’s check out this restaurant.” The old man exits the elevator as the doors open. I follow him out and look at the room.
One table, two chairs. It is a much smaller than what I was expecting. The windows on the side of the room are tied to the wall in an hourglass shape from the high ceiling. The floor was a dark red soft carpet.
The table was a dark black color coasting a dense wood.
“This isn’t as fancy as I was expecting… but only one table?” I look around the room but don’t notice anything too special… other than the kitchen was totally visible.
“The fact that it is only a single table is what makes it fancy. The wait list on this place is actually ten years long. If you wanted to go about it by your own means, it would have taken six months to get in here.”
“Why is the wait so long for a single table, and is it still a restaurant if there is only one table?”
“Food and atmosphere. The food is some of the best in the world. Also, once a year, this place will get more tables and chairs to accommodate a large amount of people at once.”
“Oh…”
“So Logan. Would you like to bring Claire here on here birthday for dinner?”
“Well, sure. But would Claire like it? I have a feeling Claire would like something simple… but that may be just me.”
“Okay.” The old man shrugs his shoulders, “Whatever happens, let me know. I just need a couple days’ notice and I can get you in here. So there isn’t a need to decide right now.”
“I’ll be sure to let you know.” I nod as the old man leads me back to the elevator.
“So, you and Claire do it yet?”
“Pfft! No!”
“Really? That’s unfortunate. That was worked in to my plan as well…” The old man looks down as we enter back in to the elevator.
“In all seriousness though, I don’t think Claire wants to risk anything until after high school is over for us. She wants to go to a good school afterwards, so losing focus now would be detrimental to her plans.”
“Yeah, I can see Claire wanting to do that.” The old man nods to himself as we walk out of the elevator on to the ground floor. “Anyhow. Treat Claire well from now until forever, you are married to her. Even if it only looks like you are dating. Also, welcome back to the country.” The old man opens the door on the limo.
“Thanks, it’s good to be back.” I smile as I slide to the seat I was in before.

Hello everyone.
This. This is hard.
I need to stop writing. Probably for a while.
My parents gave me two options. Follow the path they want me to take and do exactly as they say. Or. Get out of the house.
This puts an interesting situation in to my hands. I can do something I absolutely hate, or, I become homeless.
Another thing about what they said is that they want me to get in to post secondary and find a full time job, within one week.
I don't know what to do, and I don't think I'm going to be able to get out of this one like I have other times. I might end up homeless.
My parents... are nice people. But my dad is going to make me sign a contract for him. I don't know what it is yet, but I can only wait in fear of what it says. Also, if I refuse to sign the contract, I also get kicked out of my house.
So. The plan they have for me would give me even less free time than I have now. They want me to go to school full time to get in to a trade, and they want me to work full time. I wouldn't even really get to sleep all that much.
And that's it. I need to stop. Who knows for how long. Maybe if I'm homeless I can write on my laptop and find free wifi to post. Like that'll happen.
Well. This was fun writing while it lasted. I hope you all enjoyed The Worst Was Approved!? while it was going on.
I need to plan my future and pray to any higher being that I don't become homeless. I've already wasted too much time posting this.
Thank you.
Good bye.
