-Natsuki Nakahara

That's the first page of Natasuki Nakaharas book 'The world of Yokai'. Since I was ten years old there's nothing that I had wished more than for it to be true.

                    First Chapter

It all started when a new substitut teacher came to our school…

When i came into the Class cheerful and calling for Saki, everyone was already talking about it, the whole class was talking.

„ Saki chan what happend?“

„ Haven't you heard? Oh wait right you were ill yesterday. The school made a program for students that's supposed to make them enjoy litreature and read more, since most kids are on the phone you know. So guess what. Your favourite author Natsuki Nakahara will be teaching in our school!“

„Waiitt, THE Natsuki Nakahara?! Your not kidding! I can't Saki chann, 'The live of a Yokai' was an absolute masterpiece!! His writing style is so beautiful, and it feels so real! How did the school even do this! I can't Saki chaan why didn't you tell me earlier!!! I cant meet my idol."

Saki was smirking. „ I thought it would be more fun that way, afterall i knew you would react like this.“

„ sakkkiii channnnm“ I said sulking and shaking her.

Suddenly the door opend, out of the door came a handsome man, with a european looking hat and coat. The air changed, everyone was still as he entered the room. The handsome man smiled and introduced himself.

„Im Natsuki Nakahara, a novelist, as some of you have probably already heard, i will be teaching in this school part time, from now on. If you have questions please dont be afraid to ask them.

„ Sensei why are you teaching, even though your an author?“ a student asked.

„ I have decided myself to teach here as a teacher part time, please don't get me wrong, i love writitng and will of course continue writing novels, but i want to give my knowledge and love for litruature to the future generations, i hope that i can help them and see them grow even if they don´t care for litreature like i do. i hope you all grow to become great adults who can follow their dreams.“

after their teachers speech the students were touched, and excited even more than they were before.

„ Now lets begin the lesson, if you have questions you can ask anytime“

After the lesson everyone was fawning over the teacher, and how good his lessons were. Some girls were laughing and talking about how handsome he was, the boys were saying that he was chill and praised him.

I was hesitant, this was like a dream come true, I didn't know what to do and I really wanted to approach my idol but I couldn't, debating back and forth on what to do, and before I knew it Saki and me were the only ones left in the room.

„ Goodbye Chouko san, have fun“ As always Saki was grinning smugly and winked before she left me utterly alone.

"Wait Saki!" I got emberassed but it was too late, before i could say anything else the teacher asked.

„ So ichii san? You are the only one left in the classroom. Is there something you want to tell me?“

„Wha..“ I was red, but i bowed, even he must have noticed that I was just standing there but wanted to say something, so I took out all the courage I had left, this chance wouldn`t come again. I held my book before me.

„ Im a big fan of your works sensei! I admire your writing style, can i please get an authograph!!!“

„eh“ Natsuki was perplexed but then smiled, „ of course“ He went to me and signed the book with a feather fountain pen. I wouldn't know what it truly meant until later.

I was really happy and ran away embarrassed. He smiled after me, but I didn't know about the serious look he had after I left.

I walked through the corridor alone, the atmosphere had changed. It seemed darker than before even though nothing changed physically. I didn't know where the others were and walked nervously through the corridor, unaware that the book was attracting something. I often had a vivid imagination and I wasn't a very brave person, so I was very nervous when i walked through the empty corridor. One time I heard a sound but I was sure I had imagined it. I was just about to turn around the corner when something stood before me.

The first thing I saw was a single red eye staring directly at me, and suddenly everything lit up and I could clearly see it's skin, it looked like human skin but in the shape of a lantern, its red intestines were lit and i could see all of the insides, it opened its mouth widely and I ran, I turned hoping the large tounge wouldn't catch me when I suddenly heard a voice.

“ Chouko, you have to fight it!”

“ How?!!” I cried out and saw that It was sensei who was trying to help me. But I was very well aware that I couldn't do anything then running.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“You read my book didn't you.” He said suddenly seriously and I didn't understand why but I didn't stop running into his direction

“ I did. But what on earth on earth has that to do with anything now!” I was still running I would soon catch up with sensei.

“ You are a Yokai Chouko.”I stopped, literally stopped in my tracks and just looked at him, forgetting everything for a moment. Did he really just say that now? That was absurd! That was, that was so funny you could laugh about it. I clenched my fist. How I would have wished to hear these words as a kid. How many times did I wish to be a Yokai, how happy I would have been, so desperate, I would have believed him as a kid in a heartbeat. I never knew anything about my parents or what had happened. I didn't even have a picture. Me and Saki we were always alone. I always wondered. Why? Why was I abandoned. I didn't understand it. I thought, I thought if anyone could understand me it would be the Yokai. But now. I know that they aren't real, I accepted it..

“ I know it's hard to believe but right now, but we don't have the time for that! You have to believe that you can do it!! If you don't it's going to kill you!!"

When I turned it was suddenly directly before me. It had its mouth wide open and I had to do something. Anything, I had to do something. Anything please, anything-!!"I believe that I'm a Yokai!! I don't want to die like this!" but nothing happened.

my legs wouldn't move, I was crying because I was sure that I would die.

Nakahara sensei seemed shocked for a second. it was clear that something should have happened, but I didn't know what he had wanted me to do. I was sure that this was it and closed my eyes tightly...

But Suddenly the sensei jumped before me and aimee at the monster with a gun. It disappeared.

I was in shock.

“ I'm sorry this happened to you.”

“ Sensei, what was this." I said in tears on the ground" What happened. Who are you”

Nakahara sensei sighed. “ I'm still that Nakahara Natsuki that you know. But Im also an exorcist and part of the Yokai safety association.”

“ The Yokai safety association? Yokai, the ghosts? So that was a ghost, Just like you those you wrote in your book”

“Yes”

“ Does that mean the Yokai in the books are truly real?!” I couldn't believe it, but I saw it with my own eyes. I would have been so happy as a child but now... I was attacked by a Yokai, the same creature that I had wished to be my family, it was just so sad ..

“ Yes and no. I wrote the Yokai in my book a bit differently to appeal to the general public. But the truth is that most Yokai and supernatural beings don't like to be seen by humans and thus most of the Supernatural beings are beings and hybrids you never heard of before.”

“ That means Yokai are real and they have been living among us the whole time? Why don't we see them? And why did that Yokai just attack me.” I never imagined that something like this would ever happen to me.

“ Most Yokai have evolved and learned to live in secret among the people. And if there's an incident the Yokai safety association and the exorcist and Yokai members are going to work together to make the humans forget the incident and clean up the mess.”

"So that means-" before I could finish my sentence everything Shook. I looked up and something no someone appeared.

Nakahara sensei looked mortified.

Suddenly Saki came from the corridor.

“ Chouko!”

“ Saki Chan, get back!!”

Too late, Nakahara sensei was able to save me but not Saki.

It was a human that was floating in the air now holding saki. A man with blond hair that looked older than 40, in a weirdly old black cape with an ornament that looked like a mini clock from who knows what time.

Natsuki looked genuinely shocked and angry. He shielded me.

“ Timekeeper. Let that girl down” He said dangerously.

“ Your real objective is chouko isn't it”

The Timekeeper just scoffed arrogantly. “You have no idea. Saki will be good enough for my purposes. Besides chouko will most definitely come to save her won't she? That's two birds with one stone.”

Natsuki looked in thought, like he was contemplating something, but masked it and instead said. “ She won't be of use for you. We'll get her back.”

The Timekeeper just smiled, the corners of his mouth turned into an smug and evil grin, like he knew more than he was getting on but he didn't elaborate and instead disappeared.

“Saki chaannn!!!!”i couldn't even comprehend what happened, I felt my legs giving out. Saki had been the only friend I ever had. We both grew up in the orphanage. She would always protect me from the bully's and she was the kindest and strongest soul I knew. It was actually when I read that book that the other kids had seen it, the main bully in the orphanage had seen it and laughed, making fun of me, everyone was scared but Saki stood brafely up for me and said that it wasn't right to bully others. She got hit that day and I was too scared to do something but I got the first aid kid quickly after the fight and had thanked her. She was my hero since then. But now...

What had happened why did this have to happen.

“ Saki, what happens to her now? What should we do??why is this all happening?”

“ Chouko, I know this is hard right now. But you don't have to be afraid. Saki will be alright, he won't do anything to her. You are the one he needs.”

“Me? Sensei please. Explain to me what's happening, why is this happening to me, why are you really here?”

( Sensei sighed and fumbled with something in his jacket and showed it to me. It was a file of me.) “ You are the Timekeepers daughter.”

“ The Timekeepers daughter? I'm the daughter of a Yokai? One who just kidnapped Saki? How should I believe that!”

( He gave me the Timekeepers file) “Master of the ichii clan, aka Timekeeper. A supernatural being that is head of the Timekeeper clan. He is the last surviving being of his kind. Timekeepers are a rare kind that are very secretive. They have the power to reverse time. But he needs you to accomplish that.”

“ He needs me? Wait, the thing you said earlier. When you wanted me to believe I'm a Yokai. You wanted me to use those powers am I right? But nothing happened. What if I don't have powers and why should he need me to use them?”

“ When a Timekeeper gets children their powers are going to be passed on to their children. You have powers Chouko. You just haven't awakens them yet ”

“ Really?” I was sceptic but I wanted to believe him.

“ Really. I believe in you.”

My eyes were teary it was the first time someone believed in me.

“ Chouko won't you join me and help me save Saki with your powers. Let's save your friend.”

( I nodded) “ Your right, I'll save my best friend no matter what!”

( Natsuki smiled) “ that's the spirit. Welcome to the World of Yokai chouko.”

( I smiled)” That was really cheesy Sensei.”

( He smiled right) “ You can call me Natsuki” “Let's go shall we?”

“ Yes!”

Chapter 2

Yokai safety association

Turns out the building they were going to wasn't some secret magical temple or an ancient palace it was the plain old government building that normal humans went to which greatly disappointed saki.

“Sensei are you sure that this is the right place?”

Sensei looked at my disappointed face and laughed.

“ What did you think we'd have a hideout in the middle of the forest or something like a gang of bandits? Like robin hood or something?” He said amused.

“ Your mean sensei.”

“ Alright, alright let's just get in, I promise you won't be disappointed.”

I looked at sensei sceptically. I already knew how it looked inside, what else could be interesting about this?

And so we got into the plain looking building, the walls were white and the furniture black it was minimalistic and clean but still boring. Sensei lead me to the woman at the counter and exchanged greetings. They seemed familiar, after the usual hellos the woman asked what he needed and he said.
