Chapter 2

Yokai safety association

Turns out the building they were going to wasn't some secret magical temple or an ancient palace it was the plain old government building that normal humans went to which greatly disappointed saki.

“Sensei are you sure that this is the right place?”

Sensei looked at my disappointed face and laughed.

“ What did you think we'd have a hideout in the middle of the forest or something like a gang of bandits? Like robin hood or something?” He said amused.

“ Your mean sensei.”

“ Alright, alright let's just get in, I promise you won't be disappointed.”

I looked at sensei sceptically. I already knew how it looked inside, what else could be interesting about this?

And so we got into the plain looking building, the walls were white and the furniture black it was minimalistic and clean but still boring. Sensei lead me to the woman at the counter and exchanged greetings. They seemed familiar, after the usual hellos the woman asked what he needed and answered. The woman lead is further into the building and she opened a door and to my surprise there was an elevator behind.

"Sensei why Is this elevator behind the door and don't normal humans see it too?"

"No for humans there's a normal storage room behind the door. But If a person with Yokai blood touches the door whether fully Yokai or not, it will turn into an elevator."

We got in the elevator and the numbers were oddly arranged and disorganized, the numbers were glowing. The Elevator went down and the doors opened at the last floor.

When the door opened I was mesmerized. The whole floor was kept in red colors with lights floating on their own, it was very busy with many people passing by the corridor, with some it was very obvious that they weren't human, there was an weird looking umbrella yokai hopping passed us on one leg, others looked like normal people passing by.

There were many departments with different names. In one department there was a Tanuki explaining that they're forest was going to get cut down and was talking rigidly asking the employee to do something, in another department there was word of a tsukuyomi, a lantern one that was running wild and scaring people in the night for fun.

"Sensei don't Yokai live together with humans in human form because they evolved as you said?"

"Most Yokai indeed live with people but some like the Tanuki or Kappa still live in their natural habitats and hide away or just hide their supernatural abilities."

Before I could continue asking we came to the department that said

*Human safety department*

we went in and there was a woman with red hair and and bold red lips sitting at the desk. She seemed to have a glass of wine on the table which seemed highly unusual to me.

"Chouko this is the founder and president of the Yokai safety operation that operates all across Japan. Shura ketsuki, a vampire. "

"A Vampire!? So that gla-ss of w-wine is b-blood!"

"Don't worry Kid, it's animal blood from the butcher mixed with some wine. Although I would be dying to get some real human blood again" Shura said.

"I hope you haven't been stealing human blood from the hospital again. I told you to not do that."

"Man you are so righteous Natasuki. And who is that little girl you brought?" She leaned down and I tried to gat away a bit, a bit scared from her. She laughed.

"Don't worry I don't bite Humans. I'm here too protect them and the Yokai.

So Natsuki why you brought that girl here, she seems human isn't she?"

"She is the Timekeepers daughter." Suddenly Shura seemed serious.

"The Timekeepers daughter? Are you certain?"

"Yes"

She seemed skeptical " And how did you get that information Natsuki San?"

He smiled " you know I did my own research, I'm always here to help the association you know"

It seemed tense but just as I was about to get worried Sensei explained.

"Timekeeper has kidnapped her friend and she wants to save her. So now she's a new member of the Yokai safety association!"

Shura seemed doubtful but she sipped on her blood-wine glass and nonetheless said." Fine if that's what you want I won't stand in your way, you can teach he how to use her supernatural abilities if she really is a Yokai. "

"Don't worry I have no doubt of that." He turned to leave.

"Natsuki whatever you're planning you should be careful. I hope you know that you're loyalty is to the Yokai safety association alone." She said with an dangerous undertone that made me shiver.

"Of course my dear" he turned and bowed." My loyalty belongs to you alone president."

He left and I quickly followed out of the room.

"Wh-what happened? What do you mean with your loyalty and why did she ask if I was a real Yokai or not?"

"Since your supernatural powers have not shown we have no way to prove that you really are a Yokai. But I'm certain that you are, because you are the Timekeepers daughter."

"What does being the Timekeepers daughter have to with being a Yokai?"

"Yokai can only be born and not made, if you're parents are a Yokai then you are too. But with the Timekeeper clan it's very peculiar, they're children do not have their powers on their own, instead on their birth both parents power go to their children, meaning the parents lose half their power and the child gets it,but that only works with Yokai and the eldest. But that is not the case with most other Yokai, that have their own powers,but all Yokai have to awaken it as a teenager or child which every clan does differently."

"So the Timekeeper, who you say is my dad, has lost half his power? And you sensei?"

"That's right he can't reverse much time anymore, and well for me. I'm half kitsune half exorcist."

"Half kitsune!!! You never told me that sensei!! And exorcist how did that work?

Let me guess it was like those romantic stories where the exorcist was supposed to kill the Yokai but they fell in love instead!" I said romantically which I imagined to be very lovely.

Sensei laughed. "It wasn't quite like that but yeah, halflings are a thing now that Yokai have evolved. Now enough talking, you want to save your friend don't you?"

I got serious. "Yes please! I'm going to do anything! Let's save Saki as quickly as possible!" I already wanted to start walking when he held my shoulder.

"Not that fast, you have to awaken your power first and learn what to do. If you would search for the Timekeeper like this you would get yourself captured and I'm danger or worse. Or do you know how to fight?"

I got embarrassed. "No I don't your right....so we're going to awaken my power! Does that really work!"

"Yes, but we don't know how to awaken your power so we have to try a lot of different things, and your also going to lean how to use a gun and defend yourself."

"A g-gun! I can't use a gun is that even legal!"

"Don't worry it's an anti Yokai gun, it can't hurt humans, so let's go. Your an official member of the Yokai safety association now, your going to have your first training!"

"Yes sensei!"
