Ever since I stopped writing this novel, it has been in the back of my mind. I have started various new fictions, but my thoughts often looped back to this again. The thing I liked most about this fiction was the worldbuilding. I wanted to explore it more. Expand it. Fix up minor and major inconsistencies.
As for the story itself, it was functional enough. I always kicked myself in the head for writing myself into a corner. When I wrote this, I wanted to explore the gender-bender concept with my own twist. It was interesting, but ultimately just highlighted how little I knew about what I was writing about.
Once I found the motivation to write again, I started a complete rewrite of this story. I didn't read a single word of the original, I just started writing based on my own vague memory and all the new ideas I had accumulated. It kept a very basic framework, but I changed a lot more than I kept.

I just posted the first chapter of the new version of the story. Knowing myself, I will sooner or later drift away from writing again. To avoid this causing too much grief, I will only post completed volumes. The first of a planned trilogy is completed, and I will post chapters twice a week until it is done. After that, there will be a break until the second volume is completed. At the moment, it is 3/4 written, but I want to rewrite a lot of it, so I don't know how long it'll take.
If you've enjoyed at least aspects of this story, chances are you'll like the new one, too.
