Chapter 28: Taunts

Chapter 28: Taunts

"Ahh, if it isn't our everyday hero, Lucas Brightster? How are you? Which great monster have you hunted, respected sir?"

As Lucas reached the final door, one of the guards standing in front of the door said loudly. There was a mocking smile present on his face.

'How come he isn't fired yet?' An annoyed expression was plastered on Lucas's face, but he tried to hide it as he walked forward.

In a sarcastic voice, he continued, "Last time our Hero Lucas went out, he battled with the lowest grade pig and killed it after three hours. He was injured and couldn't walk for a few days!"

'You bastard, no one can care less.' There were a lot of people behind Lucas because of which a maximum of five minutes could be spent on a single person, heck, even less!

There were around a thousand entrances built around the Dome. Though Lucas was allotted to this exit only, if he wished, he could change the allotment. But that'd cost too much.

"I pity our hero. Not your fault, don't cry. It's your mother's fault for giving birth to an idiot like you. Both of you should just die." This was like a passing comment, but the guard clearly knew this would always do the trick.

Lucas instantaneously froze. He was someone who could never accept an insult hurled at his family; this was his single weak point. Anger surged within him. He clenched his fist, almost launching it at the guard who was checking him for one last time, making sure everything was alright.

At this second, from his point of view, he noticed the index and middle finger connected like a gun pointed at the guard's forehead.

"Bang. And he's dead. Now ignore him, or you'll be considered as ill, listening to the words of a dead man." With the calmest voice, Simo said.

His calm voice was like a chilly refreshing breeze touching Lucas's skin. Lucas's mind calmed down instantaneously.

The guard continued blabbering, but this time Lucas actually managed to ignore him.

'Hmm, something about him has changed.' The Guard noticed this but didn't stop Lucas, as it could actually get him fired. He was also somewhat disappointed, as if Lucas actually raised his hand, then he'd be able to extort a lot of money from Lucas.

The other guard with a neutral face took out his Mosin Nagant, handing it to Lucas.

'Did he join Fool's Faction? Haa, indeed his brain is just as small as theirs.'

Finally, after the last disinfection which was injected into his body through a modern syringe, Lucas exited the door.

What appeared in front of him was a familiar sight. But it was completely different for Simo. While the memory stage of Lucas, Simo had just seen a few memory fragments, as if he tried to view all of them then he could possibly injure Lucas's brain.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Simo feared that the brain of his brain-dead disciple would pretty much be nonexistent if he decided to pry any way.

'At max I can just enter his Dream World.'

His body, floating a single millimeter above the ground, followed Lucas. They both were finally out.

Simo in slow motion looked upwards, straight at the sky. He raised one of his eyebrows as he looked at the floating QR code that was right above them.

[Donation for orphanages]

These three golden words were imprinted just above the QR code.

He then looked at the artificially simulated sky. There was no sun in it, only the Azure sky. If one closely looked at it, then they'd be able to notice the slight curves, dispelling the illusion.

He then looked at the front, seeing roads that lead to the city. "Humanity has surely developed, isn't that right sir?" Lucas bad lived many years within Simo's memories. He naturally had seen the how underdeveloped the era was.

He expected that Simo would be amazed, after all this was the Golden Age of technology! Something that every human should take pride in.

But all his expectations shattered when he saw Simo's face. "Meh, I've seen better."

...

Lucas stood there without any movement for an entire minute. He had a blank look on his face.

"Are you going to continue standing there?" Saying this he moved forward. Lucas immediately broke free from his dazed state and followed behind.

The mood was awkward, But using all his shameless power Lucas asked. "Master, you've seen better?"

"Mhm, ya I've seen better. This technological advancement isn't bad, but doesn't compare to what I've seen."

'What has master even seen? Maybe, it's because we're still present within the third district, yes that must be the case!'

Simo was naturally able to read Lucas's mind. Listening to all of this, he couldn't help but laugh. 'Looks like this pupil of mine is quite childish too. A brain-dead kid.' Amused, he continued teasing Lucas.

Simo Häyhä, the deadliest sniper of all time bullying a nineteen-year-old boy... This would've surely made headlines during his time.

On the other hand, Lucas continued walking speeding up his steps. He was eyeing around, trying to find public transport. He wanted to get out of this place quickly.

Third Class District or the Third Circle... Things were surely wild over here, even in the daytime. Mostly poor people stayed in this district. The main reason Lucas hated this area was because of scammers and useless people who'd simply argue and start fighting.

"Hey, look over there."

Lucas looked in the direction pointed by Simo. A man with a kid in his arms, who looked beaten up, was on the ground with a signboard beside him asking for help.

"Aren't you gonna help him?"

"Nah."

"But why?"

"It's most probably a scam." Listening to this, Simo looked back at the homeless man. It indeed was most probably a scam.

A lot of dirt and bruises were present on the man, but if one looked closely, unlike the kid, this man had no dark circles. His clothes looked dirty but not old; overall, he actually looked healthy. Unlike the kid, whose face was pale. He seemed to be very sick but did not utter a word.

"Disgusting folks of the Underworld." Lucas muttered under his breath as he continued walking. Children were fighting on the road, dead bodies were littered around, rotting.

Overall, there was just a weird stench, and even though at first glance the third circle seemed somewhat normal, this was where the depravity of human beings could be seen clearly.

In the third district, more than 50% of the kids did not wake up to see their fifth birthday. Those who did wake up were not guaranteed a peaceful future ahead.

Being recruited by gangs, killed and sold by human traffickers... Even if some talent was found, they'd have an even worse future.

Suppressed by the noble families, killed... And even if they tried to be alone, they wouldn't receive resources or be killed like rats, lying around on the streets.

Gang wars, shootouts, brawls, rape. Such things were common here.

'Heh! Why don't the law enforcers come here?' Lucas thought as he saw a dead kid around the age of six, lying out in the cold. His body was disemboweled, judging from his facial expression he did not have a pleasant death.

This was the Third District...
