Chapter 13: All Quiet on the Battle-Front
Deity Ranka... the divine force revered by the Frostzards. Any vow made in the name of Deity Ranka was held sacred, a commitment not to be violated. Legend had it that any Frostzard breaking this oath would endure eternal suffering in the frigid depths of hell.
The pride ingrained in the Frostzards prevented them from shattering such sacred commitments. As brave and prideful warriors, they fell into a hushed silence the moment General Ruok uttered those words.
"Deal!" Allen declared, sealing the pact. His grip on the wind rifle tightened as he eyed Frostzard Ruok.
'This monkey, seemingly feeble, harbors strength between the Planka and Centum stages. Though not reaching Zulu rank, there's an enigmatic aura about him. Well, regardless, I'm going to obliterate him!' Ruok, having recently attained Zulu rank, exuded confidence.
The fierce Lizard Ruok, renowned for possessing one of the mightiest fists among the Frostzards, cast a chilling gaze at Allen. Destruction awaited this monkey!
"So, are you ready?" These few words brought all the Frostzards surrounding Allen back to reality.
Their eyes fell on Ruok, who looked at them back. A hint of hesitation was present, but their pride said something else. Heavy cheering broke out in the place, the roars of the Frostzards reaching the sky.
"Roooooaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr!"
"General Ruok! Show him the true meaning of pain!"
"Challenge General Ruok? Gagagagagagga!"
Ruok then looked back at Allen, a faint glint passing through his eyes, which were saying, "I will obliterate you." Allen just stood there without uttering a word, but a genuine smile was present on his face.
"Come on!" He finally opened his mouth, releasing frosty breath. They both then walked towards each other, finally stopping at four meters.
A misty breath expelled from Allen's mouth as he squinted his eyes, focusing them on this Frostzard. Ruok's brows were knitted together, with a pair of unclear eyes that radiated a frosty aura along with pride. Pride that came along with his bloodline.
At this moment, Allen could say that this Frostzard was planning something really sinister.
"Since you are a weak creature, I will allow you to attack first." This was all Allen needed to make his first move. He lightly cried out with a ferocious leap, not utilizing his rifle.
'He's courting death.' Ruok couldn't help but snicker inwardly as he looked at Allen, who reached nearly.
Just a single punch would be more than enough to send him to the ground, his stance wasn't correct, and there were all kinds of openings in Allen's body.
Ruok didn't channel any frost energy to his fist; instead, he simply threw a punch, launching his fist, which was almost the size of Allen's skull.
The swooshing sound of the wind could be heard as the Frostzard's fist cut through the air.
Allen slightly twisted his leg, attempting to dodge the punch. However, it was already too late; the punch would clash with his face either way.
The cheering of the other Frostzards grew louder as they saw the fist getting closer to Allen's face. The Toadmen became worried as they looked at Allen.
???
Frostzard Ruok's eyes widened slightly in surprise as Allen disappeared. Before he could track with his eyes, a presence could be sensed a few inches away from his rear.

Allen had teleported behind the Frostzard, stretching out his left fist, while the rifle was present in the right one.
However, before his fist struck the waist, Allen once again disappeared. With a swoosh sound, Frostzard Ruok's tail swung in the place where Allen was standing previously.
'What technique is this!!!' Frostzard Ruok thought inwardly. Immediately, he smashed his claws towards the right side, forming a crater. Particles of snow slowly lifted up in the air. Allen had disappeared once again!
The Frostzards and the Toadmen who were watching all of this felt a roller coaster of emotions.
On the other hand, Allen once again appeared near Ruok, this time near his left leg. With a swift motion, this time his fist coated in mana was able to strike the Frostzard's leg before Allen disappeared once again, appearing five meters away from the Lizard.
Till now, 1.3 MP of his were lost! An additional 0.1 MP because it cost mana to manipulate it and form a protective layer, 0.1 MP per 6 seconds.
Moreover, the scales on this lizard were as tough as steel.
'I can't be careless anymore!' The Frostzard thought as he channeled all his strength and frost energy into his right leg, launching himself, leaving behind a crater.
Almost instantaneously, he covered the distance between himself and Allen, who once again disappeared.
Twisting his body, the Frostzard swiped his tail towards the right side, where Allen had appeared. This time he channeled mana to his legs, flipping his body and dodging the attack.
Though Frostzard Ruok could release another attack towards Allen, who was mid-air, he didn't. Instead, he went a few meters back. This time Allen approached the Lizard, launching a few strikes towards him.
Kicks... Punches... Allen, though not skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and unable to maintain his stance, was slowly learning. One step at a time...
His stances and footwork had improved since the day he transmigrated. But, at the end of the day, he couldn't compare to the Frostzard, who had been training since birth. Frostzard Ruok was at an entirely different level, using every single inch of his body to defend and attack.
Allen couldn't help but sweat even in such an environment. All the attacks released by this general were focused on his vital areas.
'Ha, this monkey is really stupid. What is the use of that staff? It's just hindering him.' Ruok couldn't help but think. The only reason Allen managed to survive till now was because of his Flashy Shoes.
By now, his breath had become irregular as a lot of mana had been drained from his body. Though it seemed like this battle had been going on for a long time, in reality, not more than a minute had passed.
From the past one minute, both of their figures had turned blurry. Frostzard Ruok was just too fast while Allen would just teleport. They weren't able to see the battle properly, but from what they could make out, it was somewhat of a stalemate.
"General! Defeat this monkey!"
"General! Finish him quickly!"
Frostzards naturally assumed that General Ruok was winning the fight.
'Sigh, I can't stretch this battle anymore,' Allen thought. As the quote went, what didn't kill you would make you stronger.
The key word was 'Didn't Kill You.' If he stretched this battle any longer, then he would be forced to enter a state of not being able to breathe.
Exhaling another misty breath, Allen once again activated his skill, this time appearing right behind the Lizard. The barrel of his Wind Rifle aimed for the lizard's head. He held the rifle with just a single arm, his palm wrapped around near the trigger.
He didn't plan to shoot, just to scare the Lizard. But then the lizard's tail swung, catching Allen off guard.
Thankfully, he managed to escape in time using teleport.
'Haa, that tail would have turned me into mashed meat.' This time Allen used teleport twice, completely draining him of mana. Exhaustion hit his body as he kneeled on the soft snow, this time holding the rifle with both hands.
"Hahah! Good, you should kneel just like that!" Saying this in a mocking tone, the Frostzard launched himself like a missile towards Allen. The sound of Frostzards cheering intensified as Ruok appeared in front of Allen within a second.
But his finger was already on the trigger. He immediately squeezed it.
Bang!
The bullet was too quick. One second the gunshot rang, the second second with a whistling sound, the Frostzard's head turned into a bloody mist. Green blood splattered.
Death... This was a weird sensation. One would describe it as a magical sensation; every single emotion would disappear when death embraced.
It would put one's mind and soul at peace. It was as magical as waking up from a dream.
As the Frostzard's body fell to the snowy ground, green blood leaking on the snow, Allen slowly stood up, with no expression visible on his face. He was just like a monolith, absolutely cold and stiff.
His right palm still clenched the handguard, the butt plate of the rifle pressed on the snowy ground, near his right foot.
This scene... This scene where a weak-looking man, standing in front of a headless carcass, looked domineering.
No one, literally no one dared to breathe. The Frostzards, the Toadmen, all of them were staring at this scene not knowing what to feel.
All were silent, quite.
All quiet in the Battle-Front...
