Chapter 3: Arts

Chapter 3

“So, if you use the Lyly Card while having Heperonus on the table, it will do direct damage to your opponent times 4 the attack power of the card, therefore winning the game!”

“What the fuck are you talking about?!”

Exclaimed Rain back to Leto who was talking about some cards on a table.

“HUH?!?! You weren’t listening to me?! I have been speaking about the new addition to the Millenium Eye for at least one moon leap!”

“I have better things to think about right now, like getting our class schedule. We’re starting classes next week, remember?!”

It seems while Leto was speaking about some kind of table game, Leto was thinking about serious stuff this whole time.

“Talking about that, weren’t we going to the Main Hall for that?” Asked Leto.

“Yes. Why ask that now?”

“Then why are we in the Dining Hall?”

“HUH?!”

It seems the two of them were so immersed in their minds they didn’t notice they went in the complete opposite direction and ended up in the dining hall.

“” Just how did we end here? “”

Said the two of them when-

“HEEEEEY!!!”

They saw a familiar, towering figure seated in the middle of the hall waving her massive arm towards them whilst having at least 10 food plates on her table. It was Luna, having her breakfast.

Rain waved back.

“I think it wouldn’t kill us if we had something to eat before getting the schedule.” Added Leto.

The two proceeded to the counter, got themselves a good serving of food and sat down together with Luna.

It’s been a whole week since the three of them met, and were on completely amicable terms; specially Luna and Leto.

“How are you having breakfast here today?” Asked Rain, as Luna did live very close by.

“Dad suggested giving Laure a free day since he’s always so busy doing all the work on the house; cooking, laundry and so on. Replied Luna while gracefully eating from her plate.

“Aren’t there better places out in town to eat breakfast though?” Asked Leto.

The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

“Yes, but I’m also getting my schedule today so it was convenient. Also the food here is not that bad, really.”

“Whoa, talk about coincidences!” To Luna’s comment, Leto replied, while stuffing violently food into his mouth.

“We’re getting our schedule too.” Added Rain. His way of eating wasn’t particularly special, but sometimes his food would fall from his fork while on the way to his mouth.

“That’s great! Do you think we can do something together after that?” Said Luna gleefully.

“I don’t mind.” Replied Leto. Rain just nodded in agreement as his food fell from his fork once again.

“By the way, how was yesterday's walk?” Asked Rain, curious to both Luna and Leto.

“I had fun!” Said Leto with a wide smile, then-

“TIRING!” Added Luna with a somewhat frustrated tone yet there was a smile on her face.

“I just feel so tired remembering!!” Said Luna. She was not one to hold back on her truths.

“Wait, really?” Said Rain. Leto was a bit embarrassed by the comment, yet took no offence.

“Yes! Let me tell you again! The way you dress is horrible! Hideous! Disastrous! Even a manticore could choose better clothing! We spent the whole day looking around yet not even once he chose an appropriate set of clothes for himself!!”

“Was it that bad?” Asked Rain as he had only seen Leto on the school plain pants and tees.

“Not really. I had lots of fun!” Replied Luna.

“It’s been a while since I had this much fun looking for clothes and seeing what fit him and not. It was frustrating that he kept choosing the most AWFUL combinations, but we can work on that from now on!”

She then sent a beaming smile to Leto, as he felt a cold shiver down his spine. He as well had fun, but hearing the harsh criticism from Luna about the way he dressed had him take some emotional damage whether he was resistant to such comments or not in the first place.

“I-I’ll do my best” Said Leto, as he decided to completely decimate his breakfast to distract himself from the emotional damage.

After having their breakfast, the three of them walked to the main hall where they were going to receive their schedules. As it was really early, there wasn’t anyone waiting for theirs.

“Want me to explain about the schedule?”

Said a hunching, blond woman with messy hair and deep eyebags under her glasses, as if stressing the blue of her eyes. She asked Leto who was sitting on a chair across a desk. She was wearing a long white robe and a button up blue shit that accentuated her eyes, and a tight black skirt.

You could say that if she stood straight and combed her hair she’d be a beauty that would leave you without words- Yet as if not acknowledging herself that fact, she hunched and kept herself unkempt.

“If you would, please.” Replied Leto.

*Sigh*

“Okay. So- Class Schedules aren’t a generalised set. Rather, they are something specially tailored for each student. There are 7 general courses every student has to attend, and 7 special classes each one could be assigned to. Depending on your abilities and potential, you could attend one to two, to every one of them.”

“I see. So what are the classes I’m already scheduled for?”

“They’re on the manual I just gave you, but they are:

History

Social Studies

General Sciences

General Magics

Gymnastics

Free Physical Guidance

Etiquette

Understood?”

“Yes.” Replied Leto to the woman explaining the school system to him.

“Now, I need you to touch this terminal so we know what kind of magic you are compatible with, and then assign you some more classes. Then, you’ll head to the gymnasium to have a physical test, okay?” Added the lady evaluating Leto.

Leto placed his hand on top of a flat terminal on the desk; very similar to the communication device Rain and Luna had, just scaled up.

It lit up, and sucked up some of Leto’s magic energy. Then the lady picked up the terminal.

“whoa…” Exclaimed the evaluator.

“What happened?” Asked Leto.

“Your magic energy… It seems to be a mix of light and darkness. It’s been a while since I saw this combination, and especially the darkness kind.” Said the lady as she inspected the information from the glyphs on the terminal.

“Is it that rare?”

“Not really, but students in this school rarely have the Dark element as their birth element. Everyone eventually learns to control every element though so don’t mind my rambling.”

“I see…” Leto was lost in thought after listening to the evaluator. Since he was from a place far from the capital, he didn’t know whether his birth element was rare or not.

“Alright, these are your classes. Go to the gymnasium and the rest will be assigned.” Said the lady as she gave a paper she just wrote on to Leto with a table showing 11 classes in it and 3 free spaces. The paper also specified which days and time of the day the classes were held at, as well as the place and the professor in charge.

Leto looked at it briefly before leaving the room.

Dark Arts Class

Light Arts Class

Void Arts Class

Introduction to Specialized Magic

Those were the new classes added to his schedule. Without thinking much of it, Leto left the room and Luna entered right after.
