How I Started My Story.

I came home waiting to see my kids run at me. Disappointment awaited me, as I stood at the front door staring down at the piece of paper that made me start this adventure. The writing that so very much would make a man cry. I read aloud the words. First, once then twice then twenty more times and by the time I finished I was on the floor soaked in a pool of tears. I can't bring myself to read it aloud once more but here I stand as the brave soldier I am. 

" My dear you fight for the country and are out all the time. I've been waiting for three years. You promised you'd write back. You never did. I wondered why and thought the worst. But then I realized they never sent the telegram. You've always kept your promise. The only reason I write this letter is so that if you do come home may it be alive or dead you'll know I've moved on. The kids love him and they said they never want to see you again. Believe me I was angry at first but how could I stay angry. They were right we couldn't keep waiting. So my dear, however you find this letter I want you to know that I'd like you to  stay away from us until we figure if you are alive or not. Your sweetest, Irene. " It read.

 How witless does that sound. Won't  you tell me. Exactly, very much witless. At first I was angry and the anger turned to sadness and the sadness showed itself out as tears. I really loved her, my high-school sweetheart. But she now is the reason that I tell this story. So I say a thank you to her.
