Peter and Rose still didn't have an efficient way of communicating with each other. They tried to use sign language but it was difficult to use because most of the time Rose was restricted to two dimensions and Peter was still in the process of learning how to interpret it.
The best Rose could do in an emergency situation like this was trying to gesture as expressively as she could and hope that Peter catches on in time.
In this case it was pretty obvious what she wanted to communicate so after only a few seconds Peter got up and rushed into Artoria's room, waking her up in the process.
"Sorry about the noise but did you hear anything unusual?"
The startled princess took some time to process the situation before answering
"No… not here, but there seem to be some interlopers a number of floors below us."
"Okay. I'll check them out and you stay here! Also what did I tell you about speaking like the rest of us?"
Peter left towards the stairs in a hurry with Rose closely following him.
He was given a small device the previous day meant to alert the security team on occasions like this. The only reason Peter hadn't used it yet was because he wanted to check if he could solve the problem on his own.
He eventually found two men going through the VIP rooms one by one. They didn't really do anything, they just stood in front of one of the doors, waited a little and went to the next one.
It was a bit puzzling until Peter checked what their abilities actually were.
[Entity class 10]
[Remote sight, Nightvision, Enhanced sight]
[Entity class 9]
[Air manipulation, Wind barrier, Sound trap]
For the time being Peter chose to remain hidden. The pair wasn't that threatening all things considered. He also didn't know how other people's night vision interacted with his darkness based stealth ability and it probably wasn't the ideal time to find out.
He was about to go back up a level and call for backup there but he changed his mind when he saw a vaguely human figure tailing the intruders.
[Entity class 15]
[Cloak, Enhanced sight, Precision strike, Tracking]
This wouldn't have changed much if the figure wasn't reaching for one of the door handles. He shouldn't have been able to open it but with his strength he could just rip it open.

At that point Peter quickly activated the alert signal and ran towards the trio. He quickly got noticed due to the sudden movements but he had enough time to tackle the intruder with the vision ability.
The man tried to struggle but Rose jumped on him as well and was quickly knocked out. The other two obviously figured out what was happening and were about to attack the shadowy pair.
The strongest of the three intruders was already swinging towards them with a knife which Rose had to block with her arm.

Without caring about her incorporeal body's wellbeing she lunged at the man leaving Peter to deal with the last trespasser. He quickly got off the passed out man and prepared to fight.

He was in the best condition possible. He was uninjured, it was the middle of the night, he had both of his weapons and his opponent had trouble seeing. That last one was the reason why he jumped at the intruder with a vision blessing first.
Even with all of his advantages combined Peter still felt uncertain. Not because of the man who was in front of him but because of the man that wasn't.
Even if him and Rose fought together their chances of victory were slim and right now the shadow was fighting alone. He wanted to win his fight and help out as soon as possible.
He ran forward to attack and the intruder raised his hand to use his ability. Peter dodged to the side but the man suddenly swung his arm sideways and right after that he felt a sharp pain above his ankle.

Looking around he saw a familiar circle floating on his left side and suddenly disintegrating. He didn't know why his enemy was using magic circles all of a sudden but they were something to watch out for.
As he went forward once more he noticed another circle and decided to take a risk and dodge that instead of where the man was pointing. And as he expected, nothing happened.
With this new knowledge he could move more confidently and actually get close to his target.
As he got closer the man started to back away and summon more circles. However, these ones were slightly different.
They had a slightly different pattern inside and didn't disappear after a single use but kept sending out continuous, albeit weaker, attacks.
After a while Peter lost the ability to dodge the hits so he coated himself in shadows in order to gain more speed and force his way through the attacks.

He got pretty roughed up by the time he reached his opponent but it didn't matter because he was finally in striking distance.
Instead of panicking the man summoned another type of circle beneath himself. Peter, knowing what ability it could be, didn't take any chances and summoned the Asteri to attack with instead of his hand.
The pointed end of the lamp collided with the wind barrier and momentarily came to a halt before the magical wall blew up.
The recoil created by the explosion sent both the man and the weapon flying in opposite directions, but Peter just continued forward and grabbed the opposite end of his weapon as it was going past him and swung the blunt end forward this time.
Upon making contact with its target the flames within the lantern spewed out in a violent explosion, knocking out the intruder and leaving him with a number of severe burns.
As he was falling Peter lunged at the man to grab him.

He needed all the power he could get as the next messages he saw were extremely worrying.
