Chapter 32

AE 312.4.43.

When the kids heard they were going travelling, they expected another long car journey or maybe getting on an airplane, which was the best thing they could think of.

What they didn't expect was getting first class tickets on a cruise ship.

They were excited that they could see the ocean for the first time in their lives. Unfortunately, reality was determined to disappoint them. The first problem presented itself before they even left the port.

The ship they were traveling on was enormous, half a mile in length, which wouldn't have been an issue by itself, but there were a number of high profile passengers that the interface would warn them about.

This, combined with the large distances made for an interesting problem. Every other person on the vessel would trigger the alarm then, after walking to the other side, the interface would lose track of them, making it send warning about the same people over and over again.

While the sound effects that came with the warnings could be disabled, the pop-ups still appeared blocking their line of sight and making it hard to appreciate the scenery.

Peter also had to accept the unfortunate fact that he had a tendency to get seasick, even on a ship that was as excessively stabilized as the one they were on.

It wasn't all bad however, since the facilities they had on board were plenty enough to distract them from their troubles.

They had been at sea for a day at this point and had gotten somewhat accustomed to their surroundings and were simply enjoying themselves.

Sarah was exploring the canteen with Anthony, while Peter was walking along the railing alone with his thoughts.

There was little over a week left until he was healthy again. He didn't feel that great, but that was because of unrelated reasons.

Between the other day's incident and now, he had time to think about his plans for the future. His original goal was to see the outside world, which he achieved sooner than he thought possible.

He laid down on the wooden deck, looking out towards the great blue ocean. A man with wings flew by, making him think about what the world looked like from high up in the sky.

That thought then slowly morphed into wondering what the world looked like in general. He had the chance to see a lot of places in the past weeks, at least more than in the rest of his life, but there were a lot of things he had yet to see. There were entire continents that were completely unknown to him, landscapes that could be seen in a picture book but were a complete mystery in reality. And there were the planets, gigantic spheres in the sky that held more wonder than anything earth had to offer.

After thinking it through, he finally found his calling. To see everything the world had to offer and more.

With his mind firmly set on his new goal, he stood up and looked around for the man who helped him find it. He was still in the air, circling around the ship in a somewhat erratic pattern.

He looked to be around the same age as Peter, which normally would have meant that he was a lot older, but in this case it was quite an accurate measure.

Peter checked him in case he could get a flying ability the same way he got his stealth. Just so he would have some idea what to look for. Alas, it was in vain.

The boy was quite tall with an even larger wingspan, both in terms of arms and actual wings. His hair and wings were brown, with a slight shade of silver. His face was quite handsome from what Peter could see, which wasn't at all supported by the rest of his looks.

His hair, despite having a pretty colour, was all clumped up and dirty. His clothes were even worse, with numerous holes spread all over alongside some stains of unknown origin that were clearly visible from afar. Peter could confidently say that at least one of them was a blood stain.

While he was busy observing the strange airborne man, the person in question was also busy crash landing on the deck, breaking at least one bone which was signified by an audible crack.

Peter rushed over to him and helped him stand up. He dusted him off and was trying to calm down the understandably shocked boy.

"Calm down, you'll be fine. Let's go find a doctor."

"No… I can't go to a doctor!"

It was an unexpected response but Peter decided to keep helping out in another way.

"Alright, then we'll find your parents and they can help."

Awkward silence followed as the injured kid clearly became uncomfortable on top of his injuries. Peter slowly looked him up and down again before finally joining the dots together in his head.

"You're a stowaway, aren't you?"
