Chapter 001

“Garry wanna pass the The crescent wrench down?” Kevin held up his hand and then looked back into the plasma fusion engine, turning the wrench to loosen a valve to create an extra exhaust to cool the engine.

“There she goes, she should be good to go, My guy.”  Kevin said as he climbed back up to the top of the mech operations Deck. Cheryl and Becky suited up and Garry started up the mech unit. Kevin ran to his control center and they began to move the mech unit across the destroyed city stepping on and over broken building rubble and vehicles.

“Like a true master you got that engine going quick. I could swear it was yesterday, but I literally taught you since you were a kid with diagrams and notes who would've thought you would have retained so much after all these years.”

“Thanks Garry.” Kevin continued to move the legs of the mech unit.

The Mech unit ran down the orange lit road. The old buildings

Rumbled and dust fell from the ledges and the overgrowth of shrubs covered most of the obliterated concrete past.

“Wait. I think I saw an old mall. Shall we check it out?” Becky asked.

“What makes you think it was a mall?” Cheryl asked Becky.

“I Don’t know, maybe it was, It was just a thought after all but the heck with it if you feel there's no need.”  Becky continued to survey the area scanning for any life forms.

“No sign of life on the scanners.” Becky clarified.

“I will be the judge of that.” Garry had the mech unit move towards the blast covered mall.

“Well would you look at that, the some bitch is a mall.” Garry's eyes widened and the mech unit stopped in front of the mall. Kevin stared at the building and its surroundings. Some of the metallic mall withstood the blast many years ago and most of the smaller buildings but they were covered by the overgrowth, it was the huge skyscrapers that fell from the skies and crushed most of the infrastructure on the ground level. The city was a mess that mother nature was trying to forget.

Becky climbed down the ladder onto the living quarters chambers and started to unpack the biohazard suits they had which were a bright color orange. The four got undressed. Taking every piece of clothing they had on and putting them into the lockers they had on the wall. .

Then Cheryl started to open bio chemical sponge packages. Becky grabbed one of the chemical sponges and started to wipe the orange jelly all over her face, neck, tits and armpits.

“Bring along the Radiation meters, we will see if anything survived out there, that can be brought back in the biohazard bags.” Cheryl motioned for the radiation detectors to be brought along from the box.

Kevin started to put on his biohazard suit after he was done applying the coat of jelly around his lower abs, legs and balls.

Becky put on her bubble helmet and reached for the Radiation detector that Cheryl was handing her.

Garry called up the elevator. Which was a process of its own. It Takes about fifthteen minutes for the elevator to climb up the massive Walking mech unit.  It was early evening and the sun was setting Leaving behind pink, orange and purple clouds

They stood there and Becky mentioned. “There's gotta be something down there.”

“Pfft yeah right best we find a two headed rabbit.” Garry chuckled.

The elevator door opened and Becky and Kevin walked in.

“The hope of finding anything is the nice part.” Kevin smiled at Garry who was waking into the elevator to stand beside Cheryl. The four descended in the elevator down the leg of the massive mech unit.

The door opened to the outside platform which led to a ladder and they had a manual climb which took about another ten minutes down the ladder on the side of the leg of the mech unit.

Kevin walked out of the elevator doors and onto the platform that was on the outside of the right  leg on the mechanized unit. walking military vehicles. Or WMV’s for short. to see the beautiful sun setting, the wonderful purple and orange skies. Kevin took in the moment. “ What a Beautiful morning and I also got to see Cheryl's tits and ass.” Kevin smiled thinking to himself.

The wind blew against his suit which had a small amount of pressure.he followed after becky.

They all climbed down the leg of the mech unit.

The orange biohazard boot touched the Bright teal green grass covering the grounds and the overgrowth on the building’s was covered in pink flowers.

“Well nature sure found its way back, even if the scans didn't pick up any life readings.” Becky mentioned as they walked the green teal grass. “The pink flowers sure make the place seem really nice.” Cheryl added.

“Yeah, quite peaceful.” Kevin said, looking up at the massive damaged  skyscraper leaning on another skyscraper building.

Garry continued to walk towards the old mall. The mega shopping Center was massive and half of it still stood amongst the chaos of the blast ruins.

The group walked through the knee high grass and down what was an old road with many broken rusted vehicles each filled with skeletons petrified from time.

“Where were they all going?” Kevin asked.

“To work, all these people had a place to be. We had no idea what we were getting into when we found the temple many years ago.”  Garry looked at the skeleton in the car and looked up at the destruction.  “ This was our home.”

“Still is.” Kevin said with optimism.   “ sort of… We hurt this planet so much we don't belong here.” Garry looked at the ground and did a reading as they got close to the mall.

“Yeah the radiation is enough to penetrate the suits if we go any further.”

Garry took a few steps back from the mall entrance.

Kevin looked up at the structure.  “Too bad I was hoping to see the inside.”

“Yeah, it would have been nice to see the old mall again.”

“Interesting this much radiation would suggest the blast was nearby in the city.” Garry read the meter ratings.

The group turned around and walked back to the mech unit and down the opposite street to nearby tall skyscrapers. “What set off the nukes.” kevin asked.

“Our stupidity of making them, see kevin, when the asteroid hit the world many years ago, it set off a chain reaction around the world. The nuclear weapons of the world destroyed the planet's surface for many years, till as of recently the world started to come back.” Garry looked at Kevin while they walked.

“There it is, just as I suspected the meters going down, so the mall and downtown area are close to the blast radius.”

“Is that the old future store?” Becky said pointing and smiling at the find.

“Sure is, let's all check it out.” Garry started to move towards the store.

Kevin walked behind Cheryl keeping the group's flank covered. He inspected the surroundings of rubble and old vine covered buildings. The approaching night's shadows didn't help the situation.

Making dark silhouettes that seemed to grow eyes when they got out of his vision.

Or so it seemed to Kevin, making him feel uneasy.

Narrowing his vision he scanned the area. Till they got to the front doors and all walked through the push doors.

The Plastic windows on the building were cracked, melted and warped from the blast.

Shrubs and vines grew through the holes and blast holes on the building.

There were a lot of petrified skeletons and remains of human beings scattered across the floor of the building.

Boxes of goods remained Kevin started to open boxes of old solar panels and seen that most were still in operating condition.

“Garry, it seems I found some working solar panels we could use.”

Becky looked through some electronics and said out loud. “ I used to have one of these.”

Pointing at an old “Tablet.”

“Well you do again.” Cheryl said as she smashed open the display case.

“Pretty sure there's enough music files to store on it back on the mech unit.” Garry mentioned to the girls who both took one each.

Kevin looked in the back of the store checking the back storage.

“Look what I found, a sofia bot.”

“Well leave it, we don't need any A.I.” Garry insisted.

Kevin left the Bot sitting in the box. “What was it?”

“It was a home care bot, another reason for our human race to get lazy and make itself useless. I didn’t like the idea of the home care bot.” Garry explained to kevin.

The store started to become very dark. The bio suits helmet lights turned on.

“Take one of the Tablets for yourself Kevin there full of stuff from the old world.” Becky handed Kevin a tablet.  They walked through the hole in the wall in the future store that connected to the department store. Kevin followed behind the group keeping a close eye but the store was pitch black and he couldn’t see past what the light reached.

They stuck together. Walking through the department store. “ Wow a lot of this stuff has transformed over time into dust and mold.'' Cheryl said looking at the clothes on the shelves all rotted and covered in dust and molds.

“But this was how it all looked in the store’s kevin.” Kevin stared and smiled. “I can't even imagine it must have been so beautiful.”

“It was..” Cheryl said and looked down in disappointment. Tears filled her eyes.

“You gonna be alright?” Becky asked. “ I will be fine, just thinking about the old time’s.” Cheryl replied.

“Yeah, let's get out of here. This place is filled with ghosts and old memories best left in the past.” Garry said and the group walked out the entrance with Garry. Standing in the street they heard in the distance wolves howling at the Moon.

“Well that’s interesting, the scanner didn’t pick them up, they must have come back into the area.” Becky stated.

“Well let's get going before they show up.”  The group started walking down the road back towards the tall standing mech unit.

“Is it just me or those howls getting closer.” Kevin started to walk faster with the group.

Then a loud howl that didn't sound far from them sounded off.

“They are hunting us, we must hurry.” Garry said in a very concerned voice.

They started jogging.

Nearing the mech Cheryl could hear the snarling and cries of the wolves getting closer.

Becky started to climb up the mech unit Cheryl followed close behind.

Garry climbed up next and Kevin last. Who could see the yellow eyes of the giant wolves standing in the dark far enough to be concealed by the dark.

Up they climbed the yellow handle bars to the top platform and opened the elevator doors and walked into  the elevator. Once inside they hit the controls to decontaminate. Kevin hit the sequence and the decontamination valves opened and misted them then with super hot wash the suit’s they were in were sprayed. “Decontamination complete.” the system spoke and up the elevator went.

Once at the top the doors opened and out the crew walked to the floor and got undressed.

They put the suits off to the side. And one at a time got into the shower.

Standing naked Kevin spoke with cheryl. “ The wolves, were they like that in the old times too?”

“No, the mutated wolves are a new threat, in the old times we hunted them, now they have evolved to hunt us.” Kevin looked cheryl in her brown eyes. Then she turned and walked in the shower. Kevin stood there and held his arms around his cold body. Garry and Becky got dressed, she put on her black panties and Garry buttoned up his pants Becky threw on her shirt and climbed up to start the engines for the mech.

The heat turned on. Kevin hopped in the shower while Cheryl got dressed. “Im guessing were just gonna camp here for the eve?”

“Yup, also the tablets and solar panels are clear of any harmful radiation.”

“Sweet!” Kevin said back to Cheryl as he got out from the hot shower and started to put on his gray pants his mother Lori made for him back in the temple. .

He walked across the metal flooring and to the private quarters where he laid down on the bed.

Cheryl walked in the room shortly after and laid beside him.

The yellow light in the small quarters filled the room and they laid together on the bed.

“The world has changed, do you think anyone will still be alive out there?”

“I personally think there might be, now hold me.” Cheryl said wanting Kevin to hold her.

“It’s been so long, and so much time has passed I forgot how long it's been since we were last at the temple so many miles away.” Kevin held her and the warmth made him feel not so alone.

Soon enough they both were asleep.
