Chapter 1

I was dead after all these years of fighting, I finally could rest in the peaceful embrace of death… .

something wasn't right i could hear something,

It was like the leaking roof in the rain when I was still a kid.

It felt wet and cold … … with a jerk i sat upright “what!?!” I exclaimed in a horse voice “i am not dead?” i asked myself,

out of reflex i created a small ball of sunlight with a snip of my fingers or so i tried instead of a small ball of sunlight i made a miniaturized sun that vaporized or melted everything in a few hundred meters i reacted out of instinct and cast a dispel but instead of simply vanishing the sun got drawn into a black hole.

what the fuck was happening i thought, after a short moment i tried opening my status screen

“What is happening”? everything is wrong, my stats should have been between 50 000 the average for an S grade and 300 000 the the limit for most S grades instead there was just an error

and why do i have more than one class “this just makes no sense”

There were some people with a class and a profession but I never heard of anyone with two classes or, god help me, three.

Even my coin counter was weird.

F to S grade coins were pretty normal where every coin was worth 1000 coins of the next lower grade but Divine Coins shouldn't exist and even if they did no mortal should be able to own them… .

ohh i get it i am no longer just a S grade mortal but how can i be mortal and god at the same time?

and what does it mean to be a Primordial?

[System explanation: Primordials are the origin of a plane of existence not unlike how a god is the origin of its divine realm with the difference that a divine realm normally dies with its god but a divine realm that got strong enough and old enough can become a true plane and bind itself to another entity that has the power to anchor it]

“Now I have even more questions.”

But first i need to find out where i am and how to go back

“okay let's try a short ranged teleport spell” i started casting but something was wrong with the spell instead of moving myself through compressing the space between two points i just appeared there like nothing happened the only change i could pinpoint the loss of Aether, no not just Aether but divine energy, it seemed like i unconsciously used a mix of divine energy and Aether.

“Maybe because I am partly a divine being?”

No matter, I just need to be careful with what I visualize because divine energy doesn't work around my visualization like aether does it just powers through it like it did with the sunlight ball instead of just making a ball that mimicked sunlight it just created a sun because it could.

I looked around and only saw a valley surrounded by mountains but couldn't place where I was.

A look into the night sky told me that i was on my home world Celestia and that the sun should rise in a few hours, with that in mind I considered my next actions.

I could try teleporting to one of the cities I previously visited but the city would need a teleport anchor and if there was no anchor I could severely harm myself, or someone else if I used divine energy without proper training.

So no long range teleportation.

Maybe I should start by getting a better view of the surroundings by teleporting on one of the mountains with the help of another short range teleport.

yeah that sounded like a good plan.

so i cast another teleport this time carefully avoiding the use of any divine energy and this time the spell worked like it should, it encased my body in an aether barrier and sucked me through the compressed space.

From my new vantage point I could see a giant forest surrounding the mountains and a river flowing down from a cave in the mountain I stood on into the horizon and barely visible on the edge of the horizon was a city.

well with a city in view i knew my new goal going to the city and finding out what happened to me and where in my home world Celestia i am.

with another few cast of teleport i was only 5 kilometers from the city in the forest and could see a road filled with travelers, they wore clothes that looked very different then i remembered most wore little more than the most basic hemp clothes but a caravan had what looked like merchants that whore somewhat clean clothes in different colors and even guards with spears and leather armor even if it looked pretty low quality.

But what really baffled me was that I couldn't detect a wisp of aether from anything and the highest grade person was a D grade guard with all of the commoners being F grade and the merchants only barely being E grade.

I decided to travel the rest of the way on foot so I walked behind the caravan trying to listen to any conversations.

Unfortunately they only talked about unimportant things like what they wanted to do when they reached the city, how glad they were to be back in civilization and so on.

The only thing I could gleam from it was that they still spoke imperial common even if they sounded like they had a strong accent.

i reached the city shortly before noon, it was smaller than it looked from the mountain and in front of the gates were 2 guardsmen that looked only slightly better than the guards from the caravan but they at least felt like they were close to C grade.

when it was my turn to enter one guard blocked my path and asked

“Name and reason for coming to Timberburn City”

“I am Archibald, a traveling magician from a very far away kingdom and I am searching for knowledge and a place to stay for the night” I said, deciding not to share more than I had to.

“Hmm you do look like a magician, go in but don't cause trouble magician or not we do not tolerate trouble makers” the Guard said

“Of Course” I answered while already moving through the gate.
