Foresight

Ares sat up suddenly his usually expressionless face twisted in terror. His T-shirt was drenched with sweat and stuck to his body. His already pale skin was paper white and he breathed like a man who had been held under water for too long. He managed to calm himself after a long while but his heart was still racing. He stared down at his hands but the ring he had worn before going to bed was nowhere to be seen. In it's place was an odd tattoo like mark that resembled the runic symbol that he found vaguely familiar, yet he could not quite remember where he had seen it. The battlefield in his dream had disappeared and he was no longer viewing his life through the screens of that pathetic man. It had felt as if he was Ethan Stone the famous Author who couldn't write himself a new ending.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Feeling stifled he rolled over and checked the glowing blue screen of his astronaut shaped clock only to see 3:50 A.M. Only a few hours had passed but for him it felt like lifetimes. His uncle had only used one word to describe the power of the strange relic ring "Foresight". He said nothing of alternate worlds and possession which left Ares confused.

Still he couldn't exactly ignore the dream, not after everything he had seen. If Foresight somehow allowed him to see what his fate would be and he was indeed just a character in a novel, his next move was quite obvious.

"I'll just do nothing"

He murmured before rolling over and going back to sleep.
