Chapter 85: Fight in space (V)

Panic covered Haroktok’s eyes. How could he have missed this spaceship? Only now did he realize that this ship wasn’t like the others. Hiding massive amounts of energy, it had slowly sneaked up at the three fighters.

The officer’s heart skipped a beat. He ordered in a hurry:

“What are all of you doing?! Fucus fire! Blast that ship up!”

In the middle of the battlefield Eldrak struggled against his shackles. But the red guards stubbornly held on. They were ready to sacrifice their life if they needed to.

An angry shout echoed through space:

“F*ck off! Puny humans!”

Meanwhile the red guards had victorious smiles on their faces. This would be it. Maybe they could really end the life of Eldrak Prim Irom Furuwewent Zrathras. Was this really a genius with the potential of rivaling the God of Light? What a joke! The Zrathras clan was delusional. And they would prove it today.

They three combatants all had their own thoughts as they watched the spaceship coming nearer. A massive swarm of attacks shot towards it, but they would be too slow. The spaceship was already close enough.

Suddenly an unbelievable amount of energy erupted. It was enough to run Iomor’s grace for a year, but it was only used to eradicate a genius here.

The spaceship exploded. Different forms of energy formed a fascinating firework. Lighting, fire, metal, they all blended together to as a final farewell to a renowned warrior.

Witnessing all this from up close were the two red guards. At the last moment they let go of their spears, pushing Eldrak forward while they drifted back. Scalding heat and terrifying mana still reached their bodies. Their skins burned; their muscles were paralyzed. Their limbs ruptured, spreading blood everywhere.

The female guard had it even worse. Her injuries elevated. She fell unconscious directly. Doing his best to hold onto his comrade the male guard awkwardly drifted in space. His eyes burned but he wanted to see himself the fate of a genius.

It took a few seconds for the explosion’s light to finally recede. Everyone stared in shock at the place where the ship exploded. Only a puddle of blood remained there, drifting in space. Everything else was completely erased from existence. Not even any debris of the ship itself was left.

Cheers erupted in the defense station while silence fell over the mothership’s bridge. Sophia almost fell to the floor, leaning against the wall with a forlorn gaze. Her whole body was shaking. At this moment she had her answer: She preferred a living Eldrak. She put her friends’ and family’s safety over other’s. She closed her eyes as tears welled up in them.

Nobody paid any attention to Senator Tuv. The old man had suddenly closed the distance as multiple weapons fired towards the threatening spaceship.

Praising the red guards in his mind the old man rapidly formed a spell. Noticing the unbelievable amounts of mana gathering, Haroktok’s head shot around. His eyes grew horrified as he saw the forming runes.

As an overlord the senator was already among the strongest beings in the universe. Even in the Luminous Empire he would be shown respect. And the old man proved that he deserved it.

A massive spell was formed in only two seconds. Everyone could tell that it would be stronger than the storm of swords by multiple times. If this hit the mothership the outcome was uncertain, but the humans were already certain of victory. With awe in their eyes, they worshipped the strong warrior.

Just as the first humans already wanted to erupt in celebrations a maniacal laughter rang through the battlefield. Space undulated wildly.

Suddenly a massive body appeared near the mothership. Multiple mouths gaped open. Horror appeared in many eyes. Bodies shuddered as they watched the unbelievable scene before them.

With his body about a kilometer in height, Eldrak had suddenly appeared in space.

The senator instantly felt immense danger. He did his best to hastily cancel his spell. His mind received a backlash, but he couldn’t care less about that right now. Ignoring the pain, he turned around hastily, taking out a spear in one smooth motion.

He was just in time to receive the massive claw slapping down on his body. Feeling the force pressuring him, the senator quickly realized that Eldrak was only toying with the two red guards earlier. He feigned weakness, prepared to land a surprise attack against the old man.

As his thoughts reached this point Tuv suddenly seemed to feel something. His head turned abruptly. His eyes radiating a terrifying light. Feeling helpless he had to watch as the left-over puddle of blood suddenly moved.

It shot towards the two red guards, catching them totally by surprise. Transforming into two claws, they shot past the guards’ throats before slowly dissolving into nothingness. Two heads had so quickly separated from their bodies.

Senator Tuv’s raging voice spread out:

“Eldrak! You will pay for this!”

The Zrathras warrior was slightly surprised by this reaction. For him only two insignificant soldiers died. On the battlefield this fate could overtake anyone. Naturally he didn’t know that the senator had trained those two guards for a while, almost seeing them as disciples.

Using his anger as a source of strength Tuv stabbed out with his spear in one hand. The claw barreling down on him was gradually slowed down. Meanwhile a spell formed in the senator’s other hand. It could be seen that an overlord was still stronger than Eldrak.

The Zrathras kept his focus. He knew that this was the real fight. He felt the mana gathering towards Tuv. Another one of his arms shot out, circling around the senator.

Two dozens of meters large palms shot towards each other, threatening to squash the senator to a pulp. But the old man wasn’t disturbed. Eldrak’s experience told him that the senator would manage to form his spell. He hastily gathered mana himself, prepared to counter.

Everyone watched the high-level fight in awe. Surprised shouts rang out as the senator vanished between two massive palms. Only Eldrak clearly felt that the old man’s spear stopped his hand from closing completely.

Suddenly a gigantic storm erupted. Sharp swords tore Eldrak’s hands into pieces while terrifying lighting currents jumped around the swords, numbing their enemy’s nerves.

Amidst torn flesh and blood, the senator appeared again. His legs showed some injuries from being hit by Eldrak’s hand, but he was otherwise fine. With a stern face he engulfed himself in his upgraded form of the storm of swords as he shot towards Eldrak’s head.

Instinctively using the runes in his blood, Eldrak quickly covered himself in a layer of metal. The next moment Tuv was already right before him.

Eldrak grew solemn as he didn’t gain the upper hand despite his surprise attack. Although the senator received some injuries, those wouldn’t weaken him severely.

Not leaving his enemy any time to think, the senator rapidly stabbed out with his spear. Meanwhile metallic sword and arcs of lightning assaulted Eldrak. As the Zrathras warrior welcomed the incoming attack, he realized that he needed to find a way to destroy his opponent’s spell. It wouldn’t take long until his defense crumbled otherwise.

Everyone watched in awe as the senator clashed against the massive body of Eldrak. With every punch of the giant, Tuv had to stab out multiple times to offset its power. But the old man still gained the upper hand. Eldrak could only retreat step by step, avoiding the storm of swords.

Suddenly Eldrak changed his tactic. He gathered his strength. His muscles wriggled visibly. He brought his upper two arms together. With a loud shout he delivered a vicious blow, ignoring the pain brought by the storm of swords.

Reacting immediately, the senator swiped his spear upwards. It felt as if a small planet burst apart. Space seemingly shook as they two enemies met. Both of them were thrown into opposite directions.

Suddenly runes lit up in Eldrak’s body. The giant vanished into thin air.

The senator felt something behind him, but he still hadn’t offset the earlier momentum. He blindly swung his spear behind him, meeting the incoming threat.

A claw clashed against the spear. It came from the normal sized Eldrak, who had suddenly appeared mysteriously. But the Zrathras had never aimed for the old man. His claw was only a distraction. A glint flashed past his eyes as he swung his arms. They swiped at the golden runes, ripping them apart.

The sudden turnaround surprised all the onlookers. The fact that Eldrak was able to use space magic wasn’t a secret, but this exchange still showed how hard it was to defend against this mysterious magic. It allowed Eldrak to gain a chance to destroy his enemy’s spell.

A pained shout came from the senator’s mouth. Having one’s spell destroyed violently would always result in a backlash. The stronger the spell the more the caster had to suffer.

But the experienced warrior knew that he couldn’t lose his mind now. He gritted his teeth as he hastily formed runes again. Casting one of his main spells, it only took a moment until a wall of lightning formed around the old man.
