Ellena’s voice ask out as they walked through the corn maze

“Yes, I’m positive. No other combinations of words make any sense”

Josh replies back as the trio walk to the exit of the maze. When they get near the exit, Josh looks around. He quickly realizes that that attractive female worker is not around.

*That’s a little odd, we haven’t been gone for that long. Around 5 minutes or so. I wonder where she went?*

As Josh glances around the area, it dawns on him that not only has the worker disappeared, the amount of children and their parents has gone down too. When they were at the exit, Josh could see his parents waiting form them. Their backs towards them as they are talking to a police officer. His mother is holding onto his fathers shoulder, saying something in his ear

*Huh, I wonder why a police officer is talking to dad. Now that we are closer, it’s not just one either. There are a few officers around.*

As Josh thoughts wonder, Ellena loud voice rings in his ear, slightly numbing his eardrums

*FUCK girl, even gunshots are not as loud as your mouth*

“MOM, DAD! LOOK LOOK!”

Ellena grabs Jared and drags him with her as she bolts to their parents. There mother stops whispering to her husband and turns around, A happy expression overtaking her previous serious one

“Hey there little princess and Bear! I missed you two so much.”

She then plants a loving kiss on top of their heads

“What did you get there? A paper with words on it? What is it for?”

She then grabs the paper that they were shoving in her face, reading the paper with interest from top to bottom

“So so so, there are words hidden in the maze and once you get them all, you can turn this paper in for a toy from the toy booth!! Lets go lets go lets go, I NEED that stuff animal!”

Ellena's loud and excited voice rings out as she grabs one of the mothers arms and starts to pull her towards the toy booth close by. Jared joins Ellena and grabs the arm, supporting Ellena with their forceful takeover

“Hold on my little one, we need to wait for Josh and I still need to talk to your dad”

Her voice gets farther and farther as she gets dragged away. As Josh watches this happen, giving his small prayers to his mother, he walks to his father who at this point, stopped talking to the police officer

“Hey there son, had a good time?”

“Well, two of us did at least”

A smile on Josh lips and both him and his father watch the siblings successfully drag their mother to the toy booth

“Look at how excited they are! I haven't seen them smile that much in a while. What did you do?”

“I bought them both a paper that allowed them to get an object from the toy booth. I also wasn't a jerk. So that helped”

As his father looks at his face, a little surprised but super happy to see Josh smile, he answers back

“Well that's not like you. Usually you thrive in making them upset. What changed?”

*Not this Fucking shit again. Though now would be a good time to get a better idea of how I used to be*

“A lot I guess. Playing this game on my GameGirl made me think about something. I also met an attractive female worker around my age. We had a little conversation about being the older sibling”

When Josh stopped watching his siblings and look at his father all knowing smirk, he realized that he may have said something weird

“An attractive female worker eh? You finally have eyes for the opposite sex? And here I thought you were either gay or never had an interest in love. I need to hear all about this worker later. Mom is going to love this!”

*Now that he said it, it did sound like I was attracted to this worker. Love at first sight type of thing I guess? But this could work in my favor*

“Oh stop looking at me like this, I’m your son, of course I have those thoughts”

A joyful laugh escapes his mouth

After taking a deep breath and getting his words in order, he continues

“You never left your room either. You literally threw all of Jared stuff out of your bedroom. Even now I don’t like it that Ellena and Jared are sharing a room at their age. But I think you get the gist”

When he looked back at Josh, Shock and anger was all over his face. Then after Josh took a few deep breaths, his look became full of guilt

An awkward silence overtakes the conversation as Josh absorbs the new information

Josh’s hand then slams hard against the nearby corn wall

*I can’t believe that even back then I was acting like that. I thought that started in high school. I always wondered why they shared a room. Dad was right to think that it was wrong. In high school they stopped talking to each other. Hell, we all did…..*

With another deep breath to clear his head, he looks at his father

“Sorry, I….need to clear my head. I never knew I was that bad”

*Huh, dad is doing me a massive favor here. I think he is trying to make a stronger bond with me. Is it possible that I regret not being with my family?*

*Yeah, that's possible. If things were different, Jared may not have turned out that way*

Josh glances at the toy booth. He sees Ellena grab a few stuffed animals, trying to decide which one she wants, while Jared quickly grabs an army man action figure tightly in his hands. His mother’s attention getting dragged between them. Then after saying something to the worker, they start to walk back. Ellena has two stuffed animals while Jared has a tick and an action figure in his hands

“BEEP BEEP, testing testing. Alright alright alright~. Looks like this old thing still works! AHM, good afternoon everyone! I got great news! Thanks to the man upstairs, a famous country singer has not only stopped by and visited this place in the middle of nowhere, she even agreed to have a little concert for us! This is completely free and all are welcomed to join! The concert will take place in the red barn! It starts in 15 minutes! The workers at the booths please shut down for the day and go to the red barn to support the guard and police officers with the customers. Thank you!”

After the announcement, the people around the area changed their directions and went to the red barn. They all started to rush as if they were trying to get front row seats. Josh’s fathers voice then rings out

“Hey Honeybee, take the children to the red barn! We can't let this opportunity go to waste! Their first concert already, I’m jealous!”

His father’s eye full of love, however Josh can see something more hidden under them

“What about you, my love?”

When his mother herd what his dad said, her face crumbled before going back to a happy smile

As he thinks about all the plot holes from his memory, he realizes that nothing is lining up

*What fucking happened? Another question is how did Jared find her? Where was she found? How did he do it?*

With more questions forming and his mind starting to scramble, he reaches for his back pocket, but after feeling nothing, he watches the random booth start to close. He then walks to his mother

“Hey mom, can I borrow a dollar? I want to get something from one of these booths real fast”

“Really? Do you need to buy something now? We don’t really have time”

“Please mom? I promise I’ll be extremely quick”

After thinking for a moment, she remembers the talk she had with her husband, then she looks at her two angels who were holding their rewards from the toy booth and remembers how they got the papers in the first place. Then after a sign, she pulls out a stack of bills from her pocket. She grabs a dollar and hands it out to him

“Okay, here's a dollar, but you must be quick! I’m counting for only one minute. If you're not here by then, then you're in trouble!

Josh grabs the dollar bill and bolts down the walls of booths, after looking around, he makes a sharp turn and runs to a booth

“Excuse me sir, I know you're closing down, but can I please buy a small candle? The smaller the better, it needs to fit in my pocket”

After looking down, the worker behind the booth see’s the Josh

“Sure little man, but be quick, what candle do you want? Lemon? Blueberry?”

Josh was about to say peach, the flavor that he always used when he needed to keep himself calm, but when he thinks about that smell, he remembers what he had done earlier. When he looks at his hand, blood is all he can see. His brother's blood. After shaking his head, he looks back at the worker

“I don’t mind what flavor it is, as long as it’s not peach”

*I have used peach since I started this career…..Again, that female worker crosses his mind. If…..If this is more than a memory and something else, then the first very step would be a new flavor I can use. I hope you pick a good one man*

“Sure…Hmmmm….”

The man then looks at his pile of candles. After doing a quick glance, his eyes focuses on a red candle

“Let's go with this flavor then! This is my wife's favorite and I have a lot of good memories whenever I smell this”

The man then grabs a small candle and gives it a good sniff. A big, loving smile forms on his face and he then goes into a trance for a moment

“Here you go buddy, that will cost you 25 cents. You know what? How about 20 cents in total. Thanks to you I remembered a very good memory I had with my wife”

With that, Josh goes into his awesome looking turtle wallet and pulls out the cash he needs. He hands the few coins to the man and gets his candle in return. As he was about to smell the red candle and see what the man picked out, he hears his mothers voice in the distance

“C'mon dude! It's been a minute!”

Josh gives a small sign and puts the candle in his back pocket

*Forget it, I can smell it later. I’m not in combat at the moment. She always did warn me that overusing this breathing ability could cause side effects. Unfortunately for her I was always on death missions and never had the chance to take a break. Not like I want or deserve one*

After doing a small jog to catch up with his mother, he takes a few deep breaths to calm his rapidly beating heart. As they walk, the amount of officers and guards increases

*That would be the 15th police officer I have seen. And this is just one entrance. What's going on?*

As they got to the entrance. There is an officer who is holding a piece of paper and is writing things down. Once they are inside the red barn, Josh can see a store to his left and in front of him is a surprising large stadium that could easily hold over 200 people if they were all standing

“Wow, isn't that surprising huh? I wasn't expecting the entire inside to be a stadium! Makes you wonder what other uses this place has. What do you two think?”

His mothers voice asks his siblings. After they think for a bit, Ellena voice out her opinion

“I know! They hold parties here!”

“Really? That's a good guess! What about you Jared?”

He thinks for a bit before replying

“Maybe they do auctions here? To sell horses or other farm animals”

*Huh, that really is a good idea Jared. I was thinking more of the lines of what Ellena said”

“My, that's also a good idea!”

The mother and the twins continue to talk for a bit before the lights turn off. Then a bright light appears on the stage. The lights illuminate a female in a short white dress.

“Welcome everyone! I know that this was short notice! But after coming home and seeing how this place is still the same one I fell in love with, I had the strongest desire to sing! Thankfully the owner was willing to agree to my selfish desires and has allowed me to have a surprise concert! If you don’t know, my name is Aurora

After her speech, The crowd goes wild!

“NO way!! That's Aurora!! The biggest child country singer!”

“Oh MY GOD!!”

“Who doesn't know about her? Her first album broke the record as the most bought country album in history!”

While this was going on, Josh’s full attention was on that singer. After all, he was just talking to her about 20 minutes ago. But back then, she was wearing a workers uniform

*Well this was surprising, she was actually a singer, and a very famous one at that. She’s only 2 years older than me*

“Wow Mom, she's so pretty!”

Jared admiring eyes stare at Aurora

*Well she is a top beauty. I didn’t see it when she was in the worker uniform and I wasn't really paying attention to her*

As the lights go dark and the people stop talking, the music starts to sound out, then after a moment, the light returns gradually as Aurora starts to sing

As her voice rings out, it steals everyone's attention. From the parents to the children, everyone is enthralled with her angelic song. Josh was no different, though what is stealing his attention is how brightly she shines up there. Her shoulder length hair gleams within the light. Her color changes from black to a dark purple depending on how you look at it. The Dark green eyes filled with so much emotions. The white dress perfectly shows off her natural curves and her forming assets. Then with a snap, Josh breaks focuses

He then looked at the crowd and realized that it was not just him who was looking at her with a little too much interest. He then closes his eyes and listens to the song more

With a deep breath, Aurora looks around the excited crowd. When she glances to the back, she catches Josh staring at her with slightly cold and serious eyes

*I don’t get it. She is way too good for me to not know about her. I don’t know why, but she has a voice that makes it extremely hard to forget. Something must have happened to her to cause her to stop singing or worse. That's the only thing I can think of. Otherwise I would have heard of her at least once”

As he thinks about the future, his serious self slowly shows on his face. After getting bumped by a stranger, it breaks him out of his mindset

“Thank you everyone! For my next song, it's ~WHY~”

She then continues to sing 3 more songs. After each song, she would search for Josh and see if his cold and serious eyes have changed. However each time she saw him, he would have a look that always confuses her. After the first one it was cold and serious, then it went to bafflement, to shock, then it finally led to a look of guilt.

*I don’t get it, all thoughts lead to something terrible happening to her, and it must have been when she was young. Even when I think back to high school her name doesn't ring a bell. The few songs she sang were all bangers and still nothing. There is a slight possibility that I was so selfish that I purposely ignored her. After all, I didn't like country music at all growing up.*

With guilt showing on his face as he things and wonder on how selfish he was growing up, loud boos echo out

“Really? That was the last song?”

“Really….UGH fine, you all were such amazing sports that I will take a 20 minute break to rest my vocal cords then I’ll sing 2 more! Give me a WHO RA~”
