Chapter 02 part 2 First Quest

"Ya, ya whatever you say. So just to clarify I get free reign in the Library but there will be Undead watching me and reporting back to you, correct?" Micheal asked.

"Yes, just remember if you try anything I will destroy you." McGlord stated as two zombie walked in holding a long and thick iron chain.

After getting shackled to the chain McGlord ensured that it was latched with no possibility for Micheal to escape and left.

"Well now that thats out of the way, time to find what I need to find." Micheal said to himself as he walked to a random bookshelf. After rummaging the bookshelves for almost an hour Micheal had a small stack of books piled up on a small table in the center of the room. Grabbing the book at the top of the pile 'An Introduction to Magic', Micheal started to read.  "Magic is the foundation of all life on Terra Umbra. Within all beings is the potential to unleash magic, but Magic comes at a Cost. All Mages suffer a short lifespan due to the use of Magic, let this be a warning to all future Mages, Once you start down this road there is no going back, by tapping into your Magic you willingly sacrifice your life force." "Well that doesn't sound pleasent, but it would explain CorpseFace back there."  "The only known method to prevent a Mage from losing their life force is to become a Shaman. A Shaman is a mage who has made a pact with either a spirit of their corresponding Elemental Affinity or The Deity of that Element. To give an example a Mage with the Death Element affinity has the chance to form a pact with a spirit of death (the lowest ranking being a Will-o-Wisp and the highest ranking spirit being a Grim Reaper) or the Goddess of Death, Azrael. A Shaman has only three chances to form a pact, twice with a spirit and once with a Deity. Should a Shaman try to forcefully enter a pact or make a fourth attempt they would suffer from a Magic Backlash which in the worst case scenario is the death of the Shaman. A successful pact on the other hand, leads to the shaman gaining the power of the spirit or Deity which will be used to channel their Magic rather than their own life force." "Well, Maybe i should try forming a pact, who knows it might even work. I just need to find the proper book on how to do that." Micheal mumbled. "Magic is split into three tiers, each tier with its own system. Tier one Magic contains the basic Elements: Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, and Thunder. Tier two Magic contains intermediate Elements: Metal, Ice, Poison, Plant, Wood, Light, and Dark. The final known tier of magic contains the advanced Elements: Space, Time, Life, and Death. There are more Elements but these are the primary ones." Micheal continued to read and re-read the book until he could recite every word from memory after which he followed suite for the rest of the books he had selected 'A History of Magic', 'Ritual Introduction', 'Monster Manual Vol. 01' and at least ten other books. To Micheals surprise it only took him three days to memorize all of the books. Micheal decided that he would digest all of the information gained in what seemed to be the most logical way to him, Meditation.

As if acting on muscle memory he sat in a lotus position, and began going over everthing he had read. In the process of this however, the Dragon God Technique started on it's own and Micheal felt as if he had been pricked with so many needles that he would become a porcupine, inside and out, yet at the same time a calming effect took place in his mind and everything seemed to be easier to understand, the information itself seemed like it wwnted him to understand it and restructured itself in such a manner. Time slipped by and another eight days had passed during which Micheal had not moved an inch, if one didn;t look closely it would almost be like he was a statue made of Flesh. Micheal opened his eyes suddenly and released a gutteral growl that at first sounded like that of a newborn dragon.

"Well that's a nice surprise. I'll have to check that later but first i need to find the book that contains the ritual that created me." Micheal said.

After digging around the Library for three hours Micheal still couldn't find the book that contained the ritual so he decided on another plan of action, get McGlord into the Library so he could ask him where it was located. So he turned to a Wraith that was just floating next to him and said, "Hey resting corpse face get your ugly mug over here, I have a question for you. If you don't show I might have to destroy this library."

A few minutes later McGlord came in to the Library looking pissed. "What do you want you rotten little pile of wasted materials?" he asked.

"Where in the Nine Hells is the book that contained the ritual I am supposed to take a look at and see if I could understand." Micheal said in a calm tone.
