(Arc2) Chapter 7: The Jungle's Silence

So…… first of all I deleted all the arcs since people were clicking them expecting something…….. so those will be the arcs, but I may change the title based on how the story progresses like this one. Also i will not show the arcs anymore until they actually contain the story. Some people may be fooled into thinking their done. But if you saw them, those will be the exact same arcs, but may change title.

Second, I’m now sticking to third person. First person really doesn’t sound great with describing the surrounding and I really want to do that so the story wont be bland. Well I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 7: The jungle's Silence

It has been several days since Mikaila’s world was suddenly flipped upside down. No longer was she surrounded by lights and tall buildings. Now what laid before was a jungle filled with danger. Marshy swamps crisscrossed the many places she’s been and were filled with creatures of many sort. Some were peaceful creatures like the rabbit with spikes that could be seen nibbling on a fruit. Others were carnivorous creatures lunging at any creatures that passed by. One of these was a purple plant. It had tentacle like vines that instantly pulled any near victim. She had been caught earlier by one, but by now she had learned to free herself from them. The vines of these creatures were different from the regular vines seen in the Jungle. They were more hairy, and had a yellow tint. The jungle on the other hand had smooth vines and were purely emerald green.

She has been running through this jungle ever since a pack of wild dogs with two heads chased her. They had red bloodshot eyes, dark furry skin, and foaming white mouths. She feared them, knowing that she’ll probably die if she gets caught. For hours she ran, until finally the dogs gave up. Since then she learned how to survive as well as learned the mechanics of the world she now lived in.

She stared at the corner of her vision to see her status. A green health bar could be seen as well as an orange stamina bar. There was also space for a mana bar, but oddly enough it was grey. Mikaila guessed that she still hasn’t acquired the power to activate it yet. To add to practicality, there was even a time and date section. At least Mikaila knew that she’ll always know the time and date.

She also quickly learned about the inventory feature. It was weird system. At first, she was planning on making a makeshift bag but remembered that this was an RPG game world. She had played these types of games and immediately tried to access the inventory bar. At first she didn’t know what to do. She had merely yelled out

“BAG ACTIVATE” or “INVENTORY” but nothing seemed to work. After attracting a huge group of creatures though, and successfully running away, she accidently found the way of opening the menu. Apparently you had to place your hand out and flick your hands upwards. Instantly an inventory menu came in. Surprisingly it was filled with some useful equipment.

At least she gave me some stuff to use Mikaila thought, as she tried to access the items. She couldn’t really pull them out, but when she thought about them they instantly appeared in her hands. First was a set of beginner clothes and leather armor. They looked pretty worn out, but at least they were usable. She immediately replaced her ragged clothing with the less raggy but good enough set. The skirt that was mixed in honestly made her pause, but upon looking at the information (Which actually pops out for some strange reason), decided to wear it. Apparently, the armor and clothing had speed enhancements that would increase ones speed a little as well as having some enhancement for it not getting caught in any branches or trees. It was perfect.

Next, she took out the small dagger in bag. It was a decently sized combat dagger, but it was of really low quality. Taking a couple of practice stabs and slashes on a nearby tree, she began to get a good feeling from it.

[CONGRATULATION: you have learned the basic dagger skill ]

Mikaila immediately activated it.

“EIGHT SLASHES OF THE DEER”

Her dagger glowed bright yellow as she let her body flow as if it was normal. Eight slashes immediately appeared on the tree. Mikaila was stunned. She had only swung once, yet the tree had eight marks on it.

“woah……”

Recovering from her stun, she became confident in knowing that she would have no problem at all. Days went by as she continued to move south. She had no idea were she was going, but at least she had the tools to survive. Hope began to shine once more, but little did she know that a certain goddess was watching.

(Goddess POV)

"Well she seems a bit happy"

Pandora looked on with a smiling face. A smile that shows nothing but good. Without a word, she raised her hand chanting.

"ANSWER THE CALL, ENJOY THEIR SUFFERING- SUMMON GHOUL"

A bright light quickly filled a part of the forest as creatures suddenly rose up from the earth. Their faces were all mismatched, their skins were peeling off, and liquids of many type were oozing from several places. Their presence emitted death as the creatures and the forest died being in their presence. With a loud the four creatures ran into a direction, smelling for their newly acquired prey.

Let's see you try to beat this with confidence mortal.

Mikaila continued heading south. Her bag was filled with meat now, as every creature she encountered became her prey. She's even managed to hunt enough to make a make a drinking pouch for water. It was surprising. The amount of skills you can earn was endless. Before she knew it she had learned the various skills. She once again accessed her stats list, which can also be conveniently opened with her mind.

She was surprised to find that she had a name already.

I really became a girl huh, She thought as she stared at her newly acquired name. She then scanned the rest of her stats. It was surprising to find that she had no levels which is prevalent in many Rpg games. What's even more surprising that no stats for intelligence or strength could be found. She later found that the reason that their was no stat info for those was that the world system replied on pure skill. Your weapon as well as the places you hit a target influences the way you fight. In other words, this was just like Earth.

Mikaila had put this to practice later on some wild dogs. Though they had two heads, by hitting them near vital areas, the dogs were quickly put down. After checking her stats screen, she finally noticed that it was getting dark. Like all the days she's spent on the jungle, she quickly climbed the highest tree she could find. Clearing the top of viper type monsters and other pesky critters, she took a rope she made and quickly tied herself to the tree.

When can I escape from this hell. She recounted the many near death experiences she had. From nearly dying of hunger and thirst. From being surrounded by alligator looking lizards. From nearly drowning to being entangled by the carnivorous plants. She kept looking around, expecting to experience another attack. None came though, yet her fear is very prevalent.

She then recounted her previous life, how he would always walk down the streets with his friends. How they always made fun of their good friend Mark. How he first confessed to the girl of his dreams and how they finally had their first night together the second Christmas they had together. Before she knew it, Mikaila began to cry tears of sadness. The forest was silent as the cry of a girl permeated through the air.
