Prologue; Part 1-
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20 years ago a new frontier for both the gaming industry and humanity as a whole opened in the form of virtual reality. The miraculous new technology allowed for nearly full immersion into a virtual world. Parliament, fearing the effect on the empire if Virtual Reality became public; only allowed the technology to be used by the military for training.
As time passes and Parliament grew even more corrupt; certain companies were kind enough to donate large "re-election funds” to the prime minister in exchange for allowing for the technology to become known by more than just the few. The first Virtual Reality game, Royal Road, was a resounding success with the general population, with the user base inflating to over 50 million within two years of the games release. However, after finding the plans of the creator of the game, restrictions were placed on the distributors of these virtual reality games in that they were now no longer allowed to offer rewards that could be redeemed in the real world. With the main draw of games gone the industry slowly declined from its peak until 12 years later and The New Frontier was released.
After all those years of looking up at the stars and wondering what was beyond our solar system, The New Frontier proved to be a haven for those who dreamt of journeying among the stars. Those who played often had aspirations of one day joining a mission to venture into space in real life. The game employed a system that was similar to Ki from literature in the Mongolian Empire; from the country formally known as China, in that you absorbed energy for the world around you in locations called nodes or by killing strong beasts and eating their core to make your own character stronger. The limits to this however was that you could not improve beyond the natural limits of your race, after which you had to use this energy to empower your equipment. Knives and swords and other such antiquated weapons were still I use inside the game (from now on I will be referring to The New Frontier as TNF to make it easier to type) as new metallic compounds had allowed for blades that could cut through armour like butter. Guns however, were the weapon of choice for many players as they provided a farther range and could be attached to your EBP, your Electronic Body Protector which was armour that protected and enhanced your own abilities. When the game was released, the governments were worried, because skills that you learnt in game could often be applied in real life, of course, being able to maintain a space ship would never be to useful out in the real world, but certain skills, such as combat or hacking were usable outside the game. However due to the corrupt nature of Parliament, these concerns were mercilessly crushed and the game continued uninterrupted.

A cold, grey, sterile environment greeted Alex as he logged on to The Finale Frontier.
"Welcome; Master", a refined voice said as Alex materialised on the command deck of his Titan Class Destroyer.
"Hello Jared", Alex smoothly said as he strode to the one seat in sparse room.
Jarvis was the AI or Artificial Intelligence that governed the systems of Alex’s ship, whilst AI who could do this were normally extremely expensive, Jared had been developed by Alex over a period of five years, allowing the AI to expand beyond its constraints as it was fed information from all over the know galaxy.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"What's up Ajax", said a cheery voice which seemed to be projected from everywhere and nowhere all at once.
"It's good to be back Hee".
Hee, was a friend from real life that Alex had met several years before in university and had stayed in touch with. Together they had created The Fey, a guild that housed over 5000 members and many more NPCs. Though the guild had only been created 5 years before; it had quickly risen to prominence after successfully defeating a much larger fleet with minimal losses and brilliant tactics. After the battle, the guild was flooded with requests to join and from then the guild had only grown. Now, with the guilds territory encompassing a galaxy and owning several Titan and Deity class star ships, each costing several million credits, the game seemingly held only one last challenge for the duo. Hee, was a dragonoid, a hidden race that had recently been unlocked due to their actions and which had several separate racial bonuses, such as scales that could withstand bullets, well, normal ones anyway and a tail that you be purposed into nearly any task that required extremely dextrous handling. Ajax was a Fey, a race that had previously been only a legend and indeed Ajax was the only player in the game who was able to gain this race, the Fey boasted extremely long lives and the ability to manipulate objects around them using Psi, a mystical force that supposedly dwelled within all living creatures and which could be absorbed from defeated opponents and beasts to make your character stronger.
"How far out are we?". As he said this, Hee slowly materialised into Ajax's command floor, smirking at his friends compulsion to keep everything clean and in its proper place as he looked around and saw not one piece of equipment not in its proper position.
"We should be only a thousand or two kilometres away".
"So, you ready to beat the game?" Said Hee, practically jumping with excitement at the battle to come.
“I’m always ready to beat Fallen’s ass”, smiled Ajax, revealing a bloodthirsty grin.
"If I may interrupt Sir, our fleet is approaching the Fallen home world", cut in Jarvis’s flat voice.
As they flew closer to their destination , noises could be heard outside the ship that was carrying the two guild leaders as they journeyed towards the home world of their sworn enemies: the Fallen guild.
