Chapter 4 : The Beginning

Chapter 4 : The Beginning

Inside Crescent Manor, Rex Violet's residence located in the center of the Sanctuary, there are three guides standing guard. They are subordinates of Rex Violet who serve him and fulfill his orders. These three were the ones who followed Rex Violet the longest before they came to this world.

Compared to some of the other guides who joined when they arrived here, the three of them were definitely Rex Violet's right-hand men. Of course, they knew of recent event of new guides that following their Masters without basic politeness.

Because of Rex Violet's firm attitude to obliterate the stupid guide straight away, the three of them understood that their Master's disciple really had to be taken care of or they would be the ones who would be punished.

Finnian, a man with long blonde hair and green eyes who looked like a poet, who was on guard in the reading room that night saw something surprising.

He was the one Rex Violet trusted to guard his important reading room, so he would always keep an eye on any abnormalities that appeared in the place.

'Master Rex suddenly left, it seems there is urgent business. But, what was the child doing inside?' Finnian could sense that his Master had left this Sanctuary, that was because the barrier set up throughout the region was activated a moment ago.

He did not leave the reading room, leaving the other guides to deal with the problem of the barrier being activated suddenly. Finnian was curious what Elurian was doing inside before Rex Violet suddenly left, he had a feeling that the child was not ordinary. Either he's dangerous enough or he's interesting enough for Rex Violet, Finnian would not allow the child to do anything dangerous.

At that moment, he heard a sound from inside the reading room and the door opened. Elurian walked out with his head bowed.

Finnian subconsciously asked, "Young master, are you alright?"

Elurian raised his head and looked at Finnian, momentary confusion filling his expression before he suddenly smiled strangely. Finnian felt a chill down his spine at the strangeness.

'What was that?!' thought Finnian, wondering if he had seen it wrong?

"Yeah, I'm fine. Master told me to stay here and continue my practice. May I ask for your help to train me to sense aether?" Elurian seized the opportunity as he ran into one of Rex Violet's right-hand men.

That was one part of his plan, first he had to be able to sense the aether before he could proceed with the next step. This world is very dangerous, it seems safe in the Sanctuary with the assurance of his Master, but Elurian doesn't plan to stay here forever.

Finnian was a little surprised by his request, he didn't expect Rex's disciple Violet to ask for his help to train him. However, that didn't mean he didn't expect it, that way he could also keep an eye on him while Rex Violet wasn't here.

"Very well, young master. I'm willing to teach you, so we will start the training tomorrow, now you should go to sleep," Finnian answered, agreeing to Elurian's request without hesitation.

Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.

"Sure. Good night, Finnian." The childish voice echoed as its owner went to his room.

Finnian stared at the little figure leaving in a daze, he felt a strange emotion for a moment. However, he chose to ignore those emotions and started thinking about how to train his young master without having to leave his duty of looking after the reading room.

"There's no other way, actually it's not a problem. I've been bored for quite a while, Master Rex won't get angry over this little thing," he muttered while rubbing his chin. His green eyes sparkled as he looked forward to tomorrow.

...

In his bedroom, Elurian sat pensively on the side of his bed. He needed to be careful not to be influenced by the remnants of owner true personality, something he didn't know exactly how it happened.

"Can I ask you something?"

The entity's voice answered, now its voice changed from a robotic voice, a woman's voice, and now a man's voice.

[Sure, what is that? As long as you have the right to know, I will tell you.]

Elurian was no longer surprised if the voice turned into a baby's voice, he was starting to get used to the strangeness of the entity which he had never seen before.

The entity seemed to like changing its voice at will, now it sounded like Finnian.

"What determines the degree of assimilation with the original owner? How do I know if I am too similar to the original owner and end up being controlled?"

Elurian had a headache thinking about how to do it. He didn't even know how the original owner was, so he couldn't avoid being different from the original owner. However, he might also do something that resembles the original owner and that makes the assimilation tied to him

[Don't worry, you can be yourself. If the assimilation rate reaches a dangerous stage, I will alert you. Apart from that, I can't tell you anything else.]

Elurian was slightly relieved by the assurance; he fell backwards. Staring at the luxurious bed canopy. Wonder how his Master stopped the destruction of the three Sanctuaries?

He was just trying to see if the future could be changed, if it could, then some of his plans could be carried out. Starting tomorrow, the plot of this world opens.

Elurian closed his eyes slowly, letting sleep swallow him.

---

"Master Rex, are you sure that kid isn't making this up?" One of the top level guides, who had the authority to manage the Sanctuary, asked.

He was a brown haired man with golden eyes. He was the one who managed the third Sanctuary in the Liyun region.

Rex Violet swirled his wine glass, ignoring Yan's protest Rex Violet doesn't want to brags at his words. He also doesn't care whether the prophecy is fake, he just wanted to confirm whether his disciple really had the ability to predict or not.

'If he can indeed predict the future...' Rex Violet narrowed his eyes. 'Should I kill him? No, I don't need to do that.'

Rex Violet didn't want to kill the disciple he just got. However, if that predictive ability hindered his goal, he would have no choice but to kill him.

At that moment, the air around him changed. Rex Violet stood up; his eyes noticed the changes that were starting to occur. A small earthquake followed the change, then like a wave, the disaster arrived.

Rex Violet thought bitterly, 'It turns out the prophecy was true. Well, what should I do now?'

Yan's expression turned worried, he also felt that way and no longer questioned the divination because this was an emergency situation. A whole wave of madness suddenly descended on the Sanctuary. D They could hear screams and sounds of destruction outside.

"Master Rex ... That... We have to stop it immediately!"

Yan activated the protective mechanism while running to the window of his room to check the situation outside. Unfortunately, he wasn't strong enough to block the tide of madness. His face turned pale as he saw the people outside one by one turning into monsters. Slaughter each other. It was practically complete chaos, a disaster.

Rex Violet also saw it and immediately strengthened the barrier with his power. He knew those transformed people could no longer be saved, so he exterminated them.

His figure disappeared and reappeared in the center of the Sanctuary square, becoming the target of all the terrifying mutated monsters.

Rex stretched his right hand forward as if to welcome them. "Okay, let's play for a while."

His red and violet eyes twinkled as aetheric energy with a mixed color like his eyes came out of him. The energy formed something resembling an illusory book that appeared behind him.

The pages flipped quickly and opened to a specific page with a picture of a time clock.

Clang!

With the accompaniment of the sound of the bell, he stole the life time of all the monsters. His right hand flips in a clockwise circular motion.

The monsters that were about to attack him suddenly stopped moving instantly. They froze stiff and the shine in their eyes slowly vanished, leaving behind empty shells.

Yan jumped down from the sky after watching Rex Violet take action, he said, "Let me clean them up."

"Yeah, I'm going to another Sanctuary." Rex Violet withdrew his hand and the illusory book disappeared. Then, he opened another illusory door in front of him and stepped inside. Travel to another Sanctuary.
