Chapter 2 : Training

Chapter 2 : Training

Over the next few days, Elurian heard the news that several guides were leaving the Violet Fortress, this sanctuary created by Rex Violet.

Also, the people who tricked him and framed him disappeared without a trace, it was quite terrifying. Elurian knew that Rex Violet was indeed the type who couldn't let people like that stay alive and kicking. It's quite cruel, but in this world, being naive is a big mistake.

From the information he knew, there were twelve shelters, each of which had a guide leader who managed it and around five guides who were his subordinates.

However, the number of guides is not that many, since the beginning of their appearance, around ten guides have shown themselves, and the rest have chosen to hide their identities.

His master was one of the ten guides because he was the strongest, so he held the highest authority of all the guides, that's why he didn't bother hiding his identity.

In the entire world, at least the current world where humanity survives in shelters, no one doesn't know about Rex Violet. What made it even more mysterious was that someone that powerful chose to remain silent and observe as the Tower of Desire grew stronger.

'Is it because they are just guides? So, they can't directly fight the Tower of Desire?' Elurian's guess was probably almost correct.

His mind was distracted by the question which made him unable to focus on practicing. Rex Violet, who was watching him, chided him, "Your training is useless if you don't focus. Try practicing until you can feel the aether."

After ordering that as Elurian's punishment, Rex Violet left to attend to other matters. He was so busy and his stupid disciple made him even more busy and annoyed.

"Master ...." Elurian's expression paled. He had disappointed his Master over a trivial matter. That's not good, he has to make up for it!

His instructions told Elurian to practice until he felt aether, a special form of energy that could awaken hidden abilities within him. However, that was easier said than done, he had been trying for the past few days and there had been no change. He didn't even know what he should feel.

The concept of aether energy was beyond his understanding, he didn't understand how to sense it, plus his Master only gave him some brief tips before leaving him to practice on his own. That also included a test, if Elurian couldn't even sense aether, then he wasn't worthy of being Rex Violet's disciple.

'My mission is to save this world, but how am I supposed to do that if I can't even sense aether?' Elurian found it ironic.

The next moment, he put the tips his Master had taught him back into practice. Meditate and regulate his breathing, allowing his entire spirit to calm down and fall into stillness.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

His training ground was specially made for him so that no one would disturb him. Also, the training ground provided an abundant source of aether from the open air, the surrounding trees, and the flowing river behind the Master's Crescent Manor.

The previous Elurian was just a modern person who suddenly came into contact with something magical and had a contract with a certain entity. He never had some kind of supernatural power, but that didn't mean he had never seen it in the real world.

His gray eyes gazed into the clear blue sky lit by the dawn star, feeling a familiarity with his previous world. Elurian then sat in meditation and closed his eyes. Calm himself, get away from his goals for a while, and feel everything around him.

The gentle breeze that blew seduced him, the refreshing aroma of nature, the light that warmed him, and something mysterious that roamed around him.

Time passed from morning to evening, and Elurian was still in the same position, meditating without moving from his place. Surprisingly, he didn't feel as tired as he thought, on the contrary, he felt more energized.

When the morning star began to set and was replaced by a beautiful blue moon, Elurian finally opened his eyes. The gray color in his eyes had changed, a violet light adorning his pupils for a moment before returning his eyes to their original color.

'Even though I can't feel it yet, those things are changing me slowly.' Elurian checked the changes in his body, especially his vision became sharper, and his other senses strengthened. Meditation made him feel less hungry and thirsty, but after he woke up from meditation, those natural needs came back.

Elurian heard his stomach growl, the feeling of hunger brought him out of his reverie. He was mesmerized by the blue moon that seemed to be watching him, but he couldn't stay here all night.

Even though his Master told him to keep practicing until he felt the aether, Rex Violet didn't forbid Elurian to rest.

When he was about to get up from his position, he realized that his body was weak and stiff, that was because he hadn't moved his muscles all day. Just before Elurian fell, a pair of cold hands picked him up.

Elurian looked up, surprised to see his Master suddenly appear and carry him.

"Master ...."

Rex Violet looked at him while saying, "You did well, you can rest now." He had been observing his disciple from the start of his training until now. He only pretended to leave but was watching him from somewhere.

Rex Violet felt that if he was too hard on his little disciple, he shouldn't force him to train all the time. Seeing Elurian's thin body, Rex Violet felt even more guilty.

Ever since he got this little disciple, he felt more emotions than before. It makes him more interested and more attentive.

He didn't say anything else and immediately took Elurian into the Manor. He had already prepared dinner, and even though he didn't need food, his disciples needed it.

...

Dinner is prepared by a chef who is one of Rex Violet's servants. Each guide had its servant, more like loyal subordinates.

On the dining table, there was a delicious-looking lamb steak, potato soup, salad, and cake as dessert. Elurian was always amazed by the food served, the chef's skills were definitely of a high level, and the lamb steak was so tender and juicy.

Elurian forgot about other things and focused on his food, while Rex Violet looked at him while drinking a glass of wine.

"It's almost winter, so you don't need to train outside anymore. I will take you to a new training ground, before that you don't need to do anything and just stay here." Rex Violet announced while tapping the table with his finger.

Elurian nodded, then asked, "Master, what date is it now?"

During the week since his arrival in this world, he had not had time to ask about the current period because he had to train and adapt. He estimated that it should not have entered a certain plot that he remembered would occur in winter.

But, he wasn't sure about the rest of the plot because he didn't even know the exact time now. Rex Violet in the novel often spends time in his Sanctuary and only comes out occasionally. Also, most of the plot in the novel takes place inside the Sanctuary.

Rex Violet was not surprised by his question because small children usually don't pay attention to the time. So, he answered in a low tone, "It is now the 9th day of the 10th month and 40th year since the Tower of Desire appeared."

Humanity's calendar now starts from when the Tower of Desire rose, so it is now year 40.

Celepuk!

Rex Violet looked at his disciple who looked shocked in confusion.

"Little rabbit, What's wrong?"

Elurian hid his horrified expression, he regretted not trying to ask for the date much earlier. That main plot starts tonight!

'This... I was too relaxed and forgot the gravity of the situation in this world!'

The main plot that will begin is the mutation disaster that wiped out three of the twelve Sanctuaries.
