John stood up and just left the school. The sun was still in around the same position as when he went into the other "world", he could call it, so he assumed that the event that granted him powers and a new purpose in life actually didn't take any time at all in this world. The thought was slightly humorous for him.
He did have obligations and he remembered that he was supposed to go teach golf to the underclassmen, but he couldn't bring himself to care much about such worldly affairs at the moment.
The assistant captain can take over today anyway, not a big deal, he reasoned. Then he walked over to the 11-7 convenience store and bought a spicy chicken taco. He was quite hungry after this entire ordeal. As he was munching on the delicious taco and strolling back home, he had some time to think about what happened, and let the implications sink in.
So these powers aren't free, he thought, there are dangerous, or at least painful, sides affects. I wonder what else is going to happen to me, now that this Titanic Power is slowly adjusting to my mortal body. I have to prepare for as many possible side effects as I can. Also, I.... have supernatural powers gifted to me from a Titan. Ha! Even I wouldn't believe it if I didn't experience it, he thought grimly. No one can know about this until I can physically prove it- all I have to do is not tell anyone and I'll be fine.
John felt that there was something wrong with that logic, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Not one to let these lapses in concentration go, John thought about any factors he may have forgotten to consider that may affect him somehow....
He jerked upright as he remembered this factor- Rax. Shit! There is a normal high schooler who got possessed and saw me in the other world, just wandering around and could have told multiple people by now! People might think he is crazy but it's not worth the risk. I have to stop him somehow!
John panicked and started storming around all over the town, looking for any sign of Rax, when he realized that he wasn't thinking straight. One of his only powers was to sense people! Obviously he could find Rax with this. However, he couldn’t forget the seemingly insurmountable pain it had caused him, and he knew that spreading his awareness in a dense area like this town is the last thing he would want to to.

There was a library down the block, and John always felt calm in libraries, so he went inside and sat on a table surrounded by mountains of books and shelves in order to think clearer.
The library environment is just so peaceful, he thought whimsically, I forgot how nice it was in here.
John started thinking about the matter at hand. He needed a way to... focus this power, so that it only looked for one person. He knew that he would recognize Rax’s “imprint” in his mind if he sensed him, so he tried to remember how it felt. He mentally brought himself back to a couple hours before when he first obtained his powers, and played out sensing Rax. As John did so, the feeling rushed back to him and he knew that he would be able to recognize Rax if he sensed him.
Now John needed to find a way to “tune out” everything other than Rax. However, try as he might, this is the supernatural, and John knew next to nothing but the history of the ancient universe when it came to these things. So John decided that it would be a waste of brainpower to come up with a reasonable solution to a problem he has no parameters for.
Well, John thought, if reason isn’t going to work, then I’ll just have to try crazy! After all, desperate times call for desperate measures.
John walked out to an alley behind the library, looked to a random direction, and shot his essence outward with his mind. No holding back. The pain hit him hard, and he dropped to the ground, but he had so much adrenaline pumping in his bloodstream right now that pain was just child’s play. He turned a few degrees clockwise, and repeated the process.
What he was doing was different from how he used this power so far. Instead of sensing everything around him for about thirty meters, he is just able to sense everything in the direction he is focused on, but much farther- about 600 meters ahead.
Pain wasn’t even a thing anymore. He kept trying steadily in all directions, without missing any, again, and again, and again. After what felt like hours to John but probably wasn’t more than a couple seconds at most, he finally found what he was looking for- he recognized Rax’ essence. John noted that this direction pointed to Ed’s house.
Well, that’s convenient, John thought, weren’t we supposed to play Starcraft later tonight? No, focus. I have to confront Rax...
Gathering his bearings, John sprinted as fast as he possibly could in that direction, using shots of his power to sense everything in front of him in order to correct his course as he got closer and closer to Rax. John felt as if he was running faster than he ever had before. In fact, he was even jumping over fences and barriers when no one was around or looking, not caring that he was trespassing into countless homes and other private properties in the process.
Before he knew it, John was standing in front of Ed’s house, genuinely surprised.
...What the hell is Rax doing in Ed’s house? Do they know each other?
