Chapter 1

Landon's life was normal. He was 16 years old, 5.8 ft in height, skinny, pale but not sickly pale, and had black hair, with amber eyes, in sophomore year of high school. Just your typical high school student. Well, sort of…

He got one of the best grades in his class and stayed out of trouble. He was the class president, and all the students admired him for his brains but despised his personality because they all thought he was a coward. He was thought of as a coward because of the way he acted.

In the high school he attended, there were bullies. Just like every other school. And of course these bullies had people they would target for fun and people they wouldn't dare touch. and he had an understanding, he wouldn't interfere with their business and they left him alone.

Now some people might take it as him being a coward or cold-hearted person. Thinking he was Indifferent about his surroundings, selfish, and cared only for himself, but in fact, it was quite the opposite. He really wanted to help those kids who were constantly picked on by those bullies, but he was ultimately a coward. He was too scared to stop them, afraid that they would come after him and beat him up. He feared pain the most. He hated pain the most.

He was born with a fragile body. Every time he fell, he would experience excruciating pain, every time someone would bump into him by accident, he would get bruised and feel pain. Oftentimes, he'd wonder to himself, "Why can't I be braver?" or, "Why did I have to be born with this weak physique?"

Everything was going on as normal until one day, he met this new girl. She was a very beautiful girl, not too tall or short, with a pretty face and slender shaped body, with slightly wavy brown hair that went just past her shoulders. He instantly knew at first glance that she would be the new top beauty of the school. The teacher told her to introduce herself and she told them her name, 'Annabella'.

All the girls in the class gave her looks of jealousy as she went to sit in the back of the room at an empty desk. All the boys fawned over her looks and tried to hit on her as she walked by them, but she just sent them death glares, which shut them right up.

"Perverts," she muttered angrily under her breath, "Why did Daddy send me to this dirty place." She humphed angrily as she sat down.

A few months went by and everything stayed the same, for the most part at least. Landon went to school and ignored the bullies, they left him alone, and he continued to be one of the best students in his class. Now what was different? A ton of boys tried to court Annabella, and of course, she rejected every single one of them, but that didn't stop them from treating her like a princess, helping her do her work, getting her food, massaging her, and many other actions to pamper her. They all hoped they'd be the winner and be allowed to date her.

Now, you all might be wondering, where does that leave our main character, Landon? What does this have to do with him? Well, at first he was very indifferent about her. He thought she was gorgeous of course, but he knew his limits, he wasn't from a rich family, and it was very clear that this girl, Annabella, was from a rich family. He felt like he didn't have a chance, so he just pretended to ignore the new girl. Of course, this caught her attention, and she took the initiative to seek him out one day. No boy had ever ignored her before as he did.

She cornered him at his locker one day after school, her crowd of bullies right behind her. The bullies were her biggest fans and did everything she told them, in hopes of becoming her boyfriend. Annabella knew why they acted like dogs around her, but instead of driving them off like every other boy, she let them follow her around and gave them orders, which they followed through perfectly almost every time. There was also the added bonus, that once those bullies stuck by her, the rest of the boys stopped trying to court her, and stayed away, saving her the trouble of dealing with them. Landon tried to shimmy his way out of there, but they blocked him every time.

At last, he stopped and asked, "What do you want? Have I offended you guys somehow? I keep out of your way and don't bother you. Please leave me alone, I don't want any trouble..." They looked at each other and laughed at him.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Then the leader of the bullies said, "You want to know what's going on huh, class prez?" he says mockingly. "Well, I'll tell you. You know this princess right here, right?" The bully points to Annabella.

Landon gulps and nods his head, "Yes, she's in our class, the new girl in town."

"Yes yes. Well, this princess wants to talk to you, so you will not be leaving until then. We won't give you no trouble if you do what our princess tells you to do, got it?"

Landon sweats profusely and shakes his head vigorously in agreement, "Yes, I understand, I'll do it. Just don't hurt me, I don't want no trouble here."

"Good," The bully pulls back his face from Landon's personal space and smiles in satisfaction. "Well Princess, he's willing to do what you tell him."

Annabella smiles at the bullies, who in turn blush and start to act shy, which completely shocks Landon. There is actually someone who tamed those bullies. The new girl walks up to Landon and he realizes that she is taller than him by a few inches. "Hello Landon, you're different from the other boys," she says while leaning in to study Landon's face, looking to see if he'd react like the other boys.

Landon blushed shyly and stepped backward until his back hit the locker, and he winced in pain, "Excuse me, but umm, could I have some personal space, please? You're a bit too close for comfort."

Annabella didn't respond. She was surprised by Landon's reaction and stayed frozen for a minute.

Landon, worried that he had offended her, was about to apologize, when she busted out with a huge grin and started laughing uncontrollably.

"You really are different from the others. I like you, let's hang out sometime, maybe we could be friends, you know?"

Landon was flustered and didn't know what to say so he just nodded silently.

"Good, good. That's that then." She smiled and stood up, walked away and motioned for the boys to follow her.

Landon frowned at his luck. He just wanted to be ignored and left alone. Now he would be the center of attention in his school. He could already see it. His peaceful days were over now, and there was nothing he could do to change it. He had unwillingly caught the attention of the most beautiful chic in the school and would now be picked on by all the jealous males in the school.

Landon walked home and his mother welcomed him back. There was a nice smell coming from the kitchen. His mother just finished cooking some food for dinner. They ate and talked about normal things. Everything was still fine at home, but he couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling he was getting from deep within his body.

Life went on as usual in school, except that Annabella repeatedly tried to talk to Landon and openly flirt with him, trying to get closer. This irked the boys around the school, especially the bullies.

For the first few weeks, they put up with it, thinking that Annabella would get tired of trying to befriend Landon after her many attempts failed, but to their dismay, she didn't. She pushed the bullies away from her and made them leave her alone, as she was tired of their looming, overbearing presence.

This made the leader of the bullies very angry. He wanted Annabella and would not let anyone take her away from him. It was then that Jack decided to do something about it. He called the gang in for a favor that they owed his family and used this favor to have them kidnap and threaten Landon to stay away from his girl. And that brings us back to the current time and with him being in the abandoned building, beaten and tortured by some members of the gang.

Thunder continued to rumble followed by lightning. Landon was barely conscious. His whole body screamed with excruciating pain. His condition did not make matters better, in fact, it made them 10x worse. He was so focused on trying to cope with the pain that he didn't notice that one of the many lightning strikes was coming straight for him.

The lightning strike came in fast and zapped him. To his surprise, it didn't hurt. He felt nothing at all besides a slight tingly sensation that warmed him up without hurting him. He couldn't see anything except for some white light that was produced by the lightning.

When it faded, he found himself on a stage in front of a huge crowd of strangers dressed up in Ancient Korean clothing.
