Chapter 11 - Relationships

I really wanted Levy to become queen, but that would end up putting an end to what Gray and I were living. Even if I didn't believe it, after all, he had made a promise to me that he would marry me depending on the circumstances. And I trusted him, after all, he loved me very much. He liked Lucy Heartfilia, not the Lucy who dressed up to look like a 'two', but the Lucy who didn't pretend to be what she wasn't. He liked me being what I was. He liked me for who I was on the inside, a simple 'room'.

"That girl looks like a Christmas tree, just missing the ornaments to complete."

Said my brother, uninterested, whispering so that only Soldier Macao, who was beside him, could hear. Unfortunately, we all ended up hearing that somewhat insensitive comment.

While we ignored that somewhat rude comment from my brother, Mrs. Ur ended up breaking the silence, giving her opinion on the matter.

"I still don't understand why some girls make so much effort to try to look beautiful. Look at Lucy, she didn't need to do anything, and yet she still looks magnificent."

Said Mrs. Ur complimenting me.

"Thank you."

Replied Lucy, somewhat embarrassed.

"You're welcome, my dear, but it's the plain truth. I'm very proud of you for not following the same path."

Concluded Mrs. Ur, turning back to look at me.

"Even though all of you think that, I know I'm not anything special. Let's be honest, who in their right mind would choose me with Levy and all those competitors?"

Asked Lucy, being honest with herself, but before she could argue anything else, Soldier Macao interrupted her, raising his hand in a super animated way and making all of us laugh in the process.

"Don't be silly, my dear. You're beautiful for being who you are, and my son doesn't stop confirming that."

Said Mrs. Ur with a wide and sincere smile on her face.

After she told me that, I ended up being surprised and at the same time very curious about that revelation.

"What do you mean, Mrs. Ur?"

Asked Lucy, trying to hide a little of the joy she was feeling for having found out that Gray also praises her to his family.

Mrs. Ur smiled, revealing a sense of complicity as she continued to share her view of Lucy.

"Well, my dear, Gray always emphasizes how special you are. He mentions your authenticity, the way you are true to yourself. Says that your charm lies precisely in being unique, and he values that immensely. And he always emphasizes that you passed twice in the line of beauty and intelligence, and I can't disagree with that."

Said Mrs. Ur, kind of winking at me.

"Is that true?"

Asked my mother getting excited out of nowhere.

"Yes, he doesn't go a single day without praising my little Lucy."

Replied Levy, kind of in a mocking tone directed at me that only I ended up catching.

"Gray is a great guy, he has always been very kind to my daughter."

Said my mother quickly, not giving much importance to what she was saying, and then quickly returning to analyze the competition in front of us.

"Gray is really a great son, and I'm very proud of him; he is so dedicated to what he does. I'm sure the woman who marries him will be very happy."

Concluded Mrs. Ur with a sincere smile on her face while praising her own son and then starting to look for some makeup in her bag.

"He will surely find the right girl, the one who will make him happy."

Affirmed Layla while still staring at that crowd in front of us, but after my mother said those words, Mrs. Ur ended up letting out a little laugh that caught my mother's attention.

My mother, somewhat intrigued by Mrs. Ur's laughter, turned to her, and with a curious look asked:

"Don't tell me he has already found someone?"

"Apparently, I think so!"

Affirmed Mrs. Ur with a wide smile on her face.

My mother, not holding back a second longer, started bombarding Mrs. Ur with questions.

"He found someone? Who is it? Tell us more."

Asked my mother, totally excited, while forgetting, for a few seconds, what we were really doing there.

My mother, at the same time that she was serious, could be weird, and that was clearer in this situation, even though at that moment she was literally forcing me to marry a complete stranger. She still had the ability to find time to gossip.

"I still can't say who it is..."

Said Mrs. Ur making a bit of suspense mixed with a drama that I know she likes.

But she breaks it, making me and my mother almost laugh with her response.

Because I still don't know who this special person is who made my son lie to me and keep so many secrets. But one thing I'm sure of: I know my children very well, and Gray is the one I know the most. So, for him to be hiding this girl from me, she must really be something special.

Completed Mrs. Ur, turning back to look at us, but still keeping that sincere and charismatic smile on her face.

While we processed that revelation, Levy seized the opportunity to subtly poke Lucy.

"Imagine, Lucy, if he's choosing someone so special, you must feel flattered. After all, in his eyes, you're also a special person, aren't you?"

Lucy, somewhat awkwardly, smiled and tried to brush it off.

"Well, I don't want to intrude into James's life. If he found someone who makes him happy, that's what matters."

Said Lucy, somewhat awkwardly.

Soldier Macao, noticing the girl's discomfort, decides to intervene by making a simple whistling gesture.

After the soldier made that gesture, Levy remembered something else that her cousin had told them about this mysterious person.

"Oh, I almost forgot; he also told us that this person can sing and very well, to be honest."

Said Levy, not hiding all her excitement.
