Vol Two: Into the Heavens, Part Two

“So, you know what you’re supposed to do then?” the woman’s voice seemed all around the space she sat in and looked down to the being she spoke with. The painted red lips smiled, and she lifted the cup of tea and took a small drink. Her eyes glinted as she looked down onto the being from her perched position.

The room was just a small audience chamber she had. The being was on his knees with his forehead pressed onto the ground in front of the woman. There were steps that went up to a sort of stage where she sat on her butt with her legs folded in front of her. She had her hair up stylized high and held up with ornate golden pieces. There were some that dangled down on either side over her ears. She had such control over her body that while she moved and drank her tea, they didn’t dangle at all. Her robes were fine silk but just black with golden trim that seemed to sparkle in the lights of the room.

The room itself was a smaller room, and when the shadow of a boy dared a look, he realized it was barely even a room. The walls just seemed like they were space. The walls seemed to stretch out beyond eternity but when he blinked and refocused, they looked just like wooden lacquered walls you’d see in any rich person’s manor. The eyes closed once more when he heard the woman set her cup down on the small table next to her.

“Yes,” he struggled for what to call her. What did you call someone that could simply think and destroy you? Ma’am, or Lady, or anything else he could think of just seemed to fall flat for him. “I understand.”

The woman stood and pointed to the small table and one of the two servants that was waiting on either side came over and lifted the table and pulled it away. She could feel the boy's nervousness, and she understood it. She stepped softly and leaned down and touched the boy’s shoulder.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Raise,” she said simply.

The boy didn’t hesitate of course, his upper body lifted but his eyes stayed tightly shut. She gave a soft laugh, and he felt the softest skin he thought ever felt touch his cheek.

“Open your raise my dear boy, it’s alright. You’re not in trouble, or won't be. You’re doing me a favor. You shall be smiled upon,” she said and he heard the smile in the woman’s voice.

She grabbed his face once more, a hand lingered on his cheek and thumb on his chin. When he finally opened his eyes, he took in her white painted face. Delicately painted, not over the top so it looked like the woman who called themselves geishas but were really just prostitutes. He gasped and looked in her eye, only for a moment, and he immediately regretted it. Her eyes were endless as the walls were when he thought he was losing his mind for that moment. His eyes were clenched shut once more and he heard the woman sigh.

“Open them, you’re alright my boy,” she whispered.

There was an edge to her voice though, he heard it and recognized it for what it was. He opened his eyes once more and the shadow of a boy smiled and looked up to her. She was smiling once more when she looked into his eyes. He struggled not to look into hers. Hers, while she may have been beautiful to look at. Her eyes seemed almost like a nightmare.

“So, you’re going to return to the mortal realm and do as I said, yes?” she asked.

The boy nodded his head. “Yes…” he paused again. Once more he didn’t know what to call her and he stumbled.

She just smiled and didn’t wait for him to finish. He may even have heard the heavenly woman give a soft giggle before he felt her push him backward. It was a simple motion that she barely moved to do. He fell back though, fell for what seemed like eternity.
