‘It’s actually pretty nice in here,’ Raph thought as he strolled cautiously through the woods. He had the hammer Hamish gave him in his hands, just in case something unexpected happened. Spending the next hour walking around the woods was actually quite peaceful for Raph as he was just thinking that he could get some levels out of this.
‘I should try out that skill I got too, I wonder how it works?’ Raph thought as he continued on. I wasn't too much longer until he found the goblins or has he had started calling the in his head: Gobbo’s
There was a large group of them, around a dozen, grouped up in a clearing in front of Raph.
‘Thankfully they didn’t notice me.’ Raph crouched down behind a fallen tree at the edge of the clearing. ‘I need a plan, preferably one that doesn't get me killed. If I analyze them I can get an idea of their levels.’

‘Right, this might be doable.’ The highest level gobbo there was only 9, the problem was that 12 versus 1 wasn't the ideal situation from a tactical point of view. Back on Earth, Raph was a veteran in a popular massively multiplayer game. He’d even led his guild on many clears at the highest difficulties. ‘Ok, how do I split them up?’ Raph thought to himself as he watched the gobbo’s. They were all sitting around what looked to be a carcass of some long deceased animal, clearly this was their food source. ‘If they go off to hunt maybe that could be my chance.’
Luck must have been on Raph's side today because almost immediately after he had the thought eight of the gobbo’s got up, one or two of them picking up some sort of makeshift weapons. The majority of them leaving, left Raph with the perfect opportunity to take out the remaining four. Raph waited for a couple of nail biting minutes before the hunting party was out of ear shot, now it was time to move.
With his hammer at the ready Raph knew he had to move quickly and go for kill shots, if he drew the fight out he would risk the hunting party returning. He crept up behind the small group and targeted the gobbo on the left, activating Forceful, he took an almighty swing as he moved close to the gobbo and aimed for its head.
CRUNCH
The blow connected and the noise it made was sickening, not that Raph had the time to think about it. He turned to the second gobbo right next to him, a second empowered swing.
CRUNCH
It was a success. Two down now, two to go. Raph though he had one more swing left in his skill before it ran out, unfortunately the other two gobbo’s lunged at him. He dodged out of the way of the two as they collided into each other landin in a pile on the floor, it was now or never; another swing connected to one of their heads.
CRUNCH.
That was three down now and the empowered blow had left the fourth gobbo basically crippled, finally Raph swung the hammer once more and finished off the final goblin.
Out of breath and juiced up on adrenaline, Raph decided to retreat to the treeline and check the notifications that he had ignored in the fight.

‘I really need to assign those points,’ Raph though as he caught his breath. Considering his option he decided his best bet was to focus on the two stats that his class was built on; Str, and End. But he also needed to make sure he didn't lag behind in the others. With that in mind this is what he ended up with.

‘I also need to find another weapon from somewhere, maybe I could ask Isaac?’ Raph thought as he waited in the tree line for the other gobbo’s to return. Around 15 minutes later they did, with some sort of deer-like creature being dragged behind one of them. The leading gobbo's noticed their dead friends once they came into the clearing and began to panic, they scattered around and started looking around. Two of the group moved over near to where Raph was hiding, as they came closer Raph prepared himself. He had the hammer at the ready and he was ready to strike, he was much stronger now.
The gobbo’s were a meter away from him as Raph took the initiative to strike, he lunged and hit the first one in the head with a successful hit that left it slumped on the ground. The second gobbo moved in to strike Raph but it was too slow, his hammer hit it in the chest and after a noise that sounded like a balloon popping it fell down.

Well he’d killed two, the problem was, now the other six of them were rushing him.
“SHIT.” Raph swore as he readied himself for the fight, taking a fighting stance he activated Forceful and rushed out to meet them. There were two of them leading the group, Raph swung as he was in range and hit the first in the head. The second of the two managed to claw at Raph's side, as he met the attack with one of his own. His side hurt, but he crushed the skull of the second gobbo and that left four.

Raph knew he only had a few seconds left of Forceful and he needed to make his next move count. He stepped back, dodging an incoming claw from one of the final group, sweeping his hammer in a wide arc that crashed into two of the gobbo’s. Finally with one more good swing he killed a third, leaving him with one left. By this point he was very tired, but he had to end it. The last gobbo clawed furiously, managing to scratch his arms as Raph sidestepped and hit it with a swing in its hip, bringing it to the floor were he finished it by aiming directly at its head and bringing the hammer down.

Raph sat backwards onto the ground with a thump and tried to catch his breath. ‘Well, I’m still alive so I guess that was a success. I should assign my points before I leave.’

Raph decided to point the extra points into Dex. to balance the number as much as possible, for his class it seemed Int. and Wis. weren't integral but he would need Dex. to keep him nimble even if he was a power build. He stayed sat down for around five minutes while he collected himself, after his stamina had recovered somewhat he got up and looked around at the bodies. He found a kind of makeshift knife sticking out of the deer-like creature that they had brought back and used it to cut off one of the ears of the bigger gobbo, Raph thought he could use it as proof to show Maria. With the ear in hand, he wiped himself down with some of the grass around because he was pretty dirty after that encounter. Then he made his way out of the forest.
It was well into the afternoon by the time Raph got back to the small farm, Maria was very grateful and gave him another kind of stew to eat. Raph got her to sign the slip he got from the guild to authenticate the job, then he made his way back to the guild. It was around an hour before sunset when he got back to the guild, the building was quieter than earlier but the same lady was still at the kiosk so Raph walked up to her.
“Hello again, I forgot to introduce myself earlier, I’m Raph.” he said as he handed her the job request.
“A pleasure Raph, my name is Tilly. I see you’ve completed the job, congrats!” Tilly said with a face full of smiles.
“Thank you Tilly.” Raph said as she went into the back room for a moment and came back with a small coin pouch.
“For the successful completion of the job, your payment Raph.” Tilly said and handed Raph the coin pouch. “And you can keep the pouch.” she added with a smile.
“Thanks, see you around Tilly.” Raph said as he was leaving the guild. With some money now he decided to go to the nearest inn on his way back out of the city, the inn itself was decently sized and according to the sign it was called The Lucky Pony. Heading inside he found it homely then he quickly found a table and sat down, a waitress came up to him a minute later.
“Good evening, what can I get for you today?” she said.
“Um hi. I haven’t been here before, can I just get the special and whatever’s good to drink.” Raph said.
“Yes of course, one daily special and a mug of the blonde duck coming right up.” she said warmly as she walked away.
‘Blonde duck?’ Raph shrugged, ‘I guess that's some kind of ale.’
The inn was alive at this time of night men and women all were here drinking and being merry. A few minutes later the waitress came back with a large mug of golden ale and a plate with some kind of roasted fish and vegetables on it.
“There you go sir, enjoy.” the waitress said and left with a smile.
The meal was one of the best things Raph had ever eaten, the fish reminded him of cod and the vegetables were moist and flavourful. After dinner Raph went home, it had been a long day and he had to visit Isaac’s place tomorrow to help him out.
