Shopping

It was morning, and for the first time in two years, I slept well. The room temperature was comfortable, not too hot or cold like outside. The room had a small window, so I couldn't see the streets, but I guessed the shops were open, which meant I could start getting ready to go out.

I got out of bed, washed my face with water from a bowl in the room, and then left for the stairs.

As I descended the stairs, I reached the inn's lobby. In the dining area, there was a man who seemed strong, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a beard. He looked at me and greeted me.

"Good morning, you must be our new guest, Allen. Nice to meet you, I'm Swen, the inn's owner."

So, he was the silver-ranked hunter.

"Yes, I'm Allen, nice to meet you too."

"I heard you're staying for a week. What are your plans after that?" Swen asked.

"I'm not sure yet. It depends on what happens in the next few days," I replied.

"I see. Well, Allen, you're always welcome here. If you need anything, just ask. What are you up to today?"

"I'm going to buy some things," I told him.

"Like what?"

"First, I need clothes, and then I want to buy a weapon."

"A weapon!?"

"Yes, I'm planning to start training so I can get into the academy in two years."

"The academy? That's ambitious," Swen commented.

"Well, I think it's natural for a kid to dream big," I said.

"Yes, you're right. Well, about the clothes, is that all you have?" Swen inquired.

"Yes, these are the only clothes I have," I admitted, realizing they were in bad shape.

Just then, I heard footsteps on the stairs, and a young girl with light brown hair appeared.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

"Good morning!" she greeted us.

"Oh, Sonia, good morning! Are you going to buy food now?" Swen asked her.

"Yes, Dad. Do you need anything?"

"Yes, you see, Allen needs to buy some clothes, but if he goes to the store like this, they might turn him away. Can you go with him?"

Sonia agreed with a smile. "Sure! I'd love to help this cute boy. Can I pick out clothes for you too?"

Cute... Am I?

I didn't mind, so I said, "That's fine."

"Great! Let's go," Sonia said, taking my hand.

"Be careful out there," Swen cautioned us.

"We will!" I assured him.

We left the inn. It was 7 in the morning, and the streets were mostly empty, but the shops were open.

"Do you want to go buy your clothes now?" Sonia asked.

"Is that okay? Don't you need to buy food?" I wondered.

"That can wait. Don't worry," she replied.

"Okay then. Do you know of a good place?" I asked.

"Yes, I'll lead the way."

After a while, we arrived at the shop. Above the entrance was a sign with a spinning wheel and the words "Enchanted Sewing." Now that I think about it, how do I know what written in the sign? Could it be that I... I should buy some books later to confirm my teory.

Inside the shop, there were many clothes on display, and there was a door leading to a sewing room.

"The owner of this shop is an old friend of our family. Miss Grenver, are you here?" Sonia called out.

An older lady came out from the sewing room. "Oh, Sonia, it's you! My, you've grown since the last time I saw you. I still remember you as a baby 18 years ago. How have you been?"

"I've been good, thank you," Sonia replied warmly.

The lady noticed me. "And who's this little angel?"

Now I am an Angel...

Sonia introduced me. "This is our inn's guest, Allen. He needs to buy some clothes, so I brought him here."

The lady offered her help. "I see. Feel free to ask if you need any assistance."

"Thank you," said Sonia,"Shall we pick out some clothes, Allen?"

We chose practical clothes soI could train without looking like a beggar. Sonia also picked out some clothes that she liked.

"Try this one, Allen!" she said excitedly.

I tried it on, and Sonia seemed to really like it.

"You look so cute! You almost look like a prince. You should get this one too," she recommended.

Thinking it wouldn't hurt to have some more formal clothes for emergencies, I agreed. "Okay, I'll take this one as well."

"Good choice," Sonia said.

We went to the counter to pay.

"Your total is 480 Loris, but I'll give you a discount and charge only 250," Miss Grenver told us.

I thanked her and paid her with coins from my ring. Then I changed into one of my new outfits and left the shop.

"Is there anything else you need help to buy?" Sonia asked.

"No, thank you for your help, Sonia," I replied.

"Don't mention it. I had fun. It's getting late, so I need to buy food for lunch. You should come by the inn and eat with us," she suggested.

"Sure thing," I agreed.

"Goodbye, and be careful," she said.

"I will," I assured her.

Now that I had clothes, it was time to move on to the next item on my list: finding a weapon.
