Chapter one

~Kyuusyn-10 years old-Vampire-Beast-traited:Dragon~

Issy, one of Kyuu’s classmates, walks up to him.

“Hey Kyuu. we’re going to leave soon, for the human world. What job are you planning to do when you get there?”

“I'm going to be an adventurer, Just couldn't stand something more boring and safe. How about you?” Kyuu says immediately

“Ah, I'm going to be a seamstress, I always was good with a needle.” Issy replies.

~A few days later~

“Oh! We have to leave.” Kyuu looks back at his birth village one more time, and waves goodbye to his parents. I'm gonna miss this place… well, adventure awaits!

Kyuu begins to head out, dedicated to becoming an adventurer.

Kyuu’s journal: day one.

Just left town, and I'm feeling nervous already. I can't wait to see how humans live. That's the only problem living in a small vampire village. We never die, and so things almost never change around the village. I’ve heard humans only live one-hundred years! That's so short! But they can do such amazing things in that lifespan. Anyways, all young vampires in my village have to, at one point in their lives, go on a trip to the human countries, we’re supposed to get a job, and attempt to understand how they can do so much in so little time. Well, we’re also supposed to learn how to hunt without being caught. I’m ready for both of these things, and I'll make sure to bring back a ton of stuff for my parents… Anyways, that's day one, good morning, me.

Kyuu’s journal: day two.

I woke up just as the sun set today. I really want to get to a human town as soon as possible… I’m just about two days away now. Anyways; the food out here is horrible, animal blood just isn’t the same as human blood. I traveled all day long, but I swear, something was watching me. I keep having this itchy feeling down my spine.

So, I can't sleep, because of that feeling, and I'm writing again. I’m starting to feel lonely. And I, once again, can't wait to get to town.

Kyuu looks up from his journal. He shivers as the feeling on his spine rockets up, and he instinctively dodges to the left. A thin, long shape flies right through where he was. It was a giant snake.

“Aha! I knew it!”

The young vampire dives at the snake, with his claws outstretched, they tear through its scales, and he slides to the right, to dodge the snake's head, flinging at him. He slashes the snake's face with his claws, and it falls to the ground, twitching.

Kyuu falls over. He lay there, next to the dead snake, gasping for breath. “That was amazing! This is exactly why I'm becoming an adventurer!”

After the snake attack, he cleans his hands, and heads back to his tent to go back to sleep, ready to continue his journey tomorrow.

~The Next Day~

Kyuu’s journal: day three.

That snake was terrifying, and awesome. I could barely sleep! It was at least 20 feet long, with shining black scales. I’m going to make the scales into a cloak, because they look amazing! Anyways, I’m about three days away from human settlements now. Nothing else exciting really happened after the snake attack today.

I just noticed how beautiful this forest is. The sun is starting to rise, and it bathes the towering black-barked trees in orange light. And the moons! Those two glowing blue balls of light in the sky.

You know, our scientists theorize that the moons have air, and their blue glow comes from some kind of bioluminescent moss… what would I give to get my hands on some of that stuff.

Kyuu looks up from his journal, admiring the sunrise. Half way there…

~Day four~

Kyuu travels through the forest, pushing through vegetation. Damn, I really hate mosquitoes, is this how humans feel about my kind? Haha!

While he is traveling, nearby in the same forest.

-Human Adventurer Sam; Swordsman-

“Rhys (Rice), are you sure this is the forest the Albk Serpent went to?” Sam glances over at one of his traveling companions. She has black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. Her cat ears and tail flick and twitch, while she scouts with her bow at the ready.

“I don’t doubt my tracking skills, Sam. I’m certain it was in this area, " she replies, Her tail swaying in slight annoyance. She pauses, going still.

“I think I heard something, I’ll go check it out.” She says while dashing off into the forest.

Sam glances at their final companion, sleeping soundly, she is a young elf, with light skin, and blue eyes, not that he could see them right now. She is clutching onto her magic staff while she sleeps, and is in mages robes. A pointy hat sits next to her.

Sam walks up to her.

“Elsys, wake up. Rhys thinks she found something.” Sam says.

The girl wakes up, yawning.

“This better not be like last time.” she says. “I won't go near a marsh, even if the snake is there.” Elsys replies

The small group of adventurers headed in the direction Rhys had run off.

-Rhys, Archer/scout-

Ah, there it is! She spots black scales in a nearby clearing. She pulls out an arrow, and draws it back, intending to injure the snake. The arrow goes flying, piercing through the black scales.

“Eh!?” Rhys hears a voice, a very human, and not snake-like voice. Oh no…

“Who shot my pack?!” the person turned around, and she saw that it was a kid, who looked at most 10. Rhys hops out of the trees, and approaches the kid, after hearing the rest of her party nearby.

-Kyuusyn-

“Eh?! Who shot my pack!?!” Kyuu shouts out, he looks around the clearing, but can't spot anything but plants and trees. A little while later, he hears something again. He turns around, and comes face to face with a… female Cat-kin 2 archer?

“Who are you, and what are you doing so far out in the forest?” she asks him.

“I'm just traveling from my village to the nearest town. I’m hoping to become an adventurer. How about you?” Kyuu asks cheerfully even after his pack got shot.

“Ah. Okay. You can call me Rhys, I’m an adventurer, my party is heading over right now. Oh! And I'm sorry for shooting your pack, we were hunting an Albk serpent, and it came to this area. The snake-skin on your pack made me think you were it.” She laughs.

“You’re adventurers? That's amazing, and you were searching for that snake? It attacked me on the path a while back. Barely got out of that fight with my life.” Kyuu says.

“ You know, as an apology for shooting my pack, you could take me with you to the town.” He asks, as the others of the archers party arrive.

“We can probably do that.” Rhys says. She is still mulling over the fact Kyuu killed the snake.

~Later that day~

-Sam, swordsman adventurer-

“I don't trust him, Rhys. He seems too naive.” Sam whispers to his friend.

“He did say he left his village for the first time, and is only 10. I think he would at least be a little naive.” She replies

“And besides, it's only two days away from town.”

“Fine” Sam answers “I let him stay with us for two days.”
